  1. Around that time I started drinking Atkins shakes. Personally I like the Caramel Cafe flavor. I still drink a lot of them. I pretty much lived off of these, eggs, and tuna fish. After awhile you might be able to tolerate wendy's chili. I'll admit I don't do a lot of variety in my diet so I'm sure others will come along with better answers!
  2. Thanks everyone!! I wanted to reply to each comment individually but for some reason it's not letting me do that. But thanks so much for your sweet comments. I really appreciate it . I am so encouraged by all of you . what a great community we have here.
  3. My week in pictures. Follow the link--->300 pounds down blog
  4. Woo hoo!!!!! Fantastic!! You look awesome! I am so happy for you!
  5. I use fitnesspal too. You can add friends on there. I really like it
  6. It takes awhile for the hunger hormone to get out of your system. I was a lot hungrier in the beginning than I am now. Add your period to it and I can see where you'd be hungrier than usual. I agree with others. Stay away from carbs if possible!
  7. We were told that a lot of restaurants don't honor the cards anymore. I've never tried. Personally, I don't bother with any of that. I share meals all the time with my daughter. It's great! We split it and save tons of money. If not that, I get a take home box for later.
  8. I agree with the others. Skip the dinner and just go hang out. You can always sip on the water! The good thing is it makes you a cheap date!
  9. Every surgeon is different . My surgeon never ever got into the nitty gritty details of how and what to eat. He left that up to the nutritionist. I think it's interesting that your surgeon is getting so detailed about that. Mine literally was all about the surgery. That was his domain. he left the other stuff up to the nutritionist. , Personally, I think you sound like you're eating the same as everyone else. It concerns me a bit that he might be making you paranoid . That is not cool! I had a PA at a follow up appt criticize me and try to undermine me. Getting me very worried about everything. All this did was sabotage me and really screw me up for a good few weeks until I got her out of my head. Keep doing what you're doing I think you're doing fantastic!
  10. No advice but hoping you're feeling better. Did you figure out what it was? I would not hesitate to call the doctor though. Better safe than sorry!!
  11. I would think that it's not technically dumping syndrome because our intestines were not reorganized However, I will tell you that there are certain things I can't eat without getting an upset stomach. I find my stomach is a lot more sensitive than it used to be. There are certain things that really keep me in the bathroom. I'm pretty happy about it actually ! lol...it keeps me away from them!

  13. Im so sorry you're sick. strep sucks!! Have you tried popsicles? Sugar free popsicles would probably be good on your throat. Hope you feel better soon!
  14. Wow you are lucky!! I am coveting your vitamix even as we speak. I have no suggestions just wanted to say congrats on this and good luck!
  15. When you can move to shakes I think it will help a lot. I pretty much lived on atkins shakes for quite awhile and in fact I still do. I like the caramel cafe and I keep them stocked. I remember being on clear liquids and feeling like I wanted to go crazy. Finally I was able to have a cream soup and it was like I won the lottery. Trust me...it will taste better than you could have imagined. I believe I ate cream of chicken but cream of anything would do. I am sure once you move onto that it will be awesome!
  16. hahahaha....and a sense of humor to boot! Love it!
  17. I probably shouldn't answer this b/c I never had the band. But I just wanted to tell you that I have met soooo many people who converted to the sleeve from the band and they have had wild success!! The lady staying across the hall from me did this and we have kept up a bit as we see each other at the doctor's office for follow ups. She has told me every time that her life is like night and day. She said she loves the sleeve and it has made a world of difference. I'm really happy for you! I think you will love it. As far as the sensation of fullness...I will tell you how I feel. I don't know if I am different from others. Basically I get a feeling in my throat that tells me no more . Initially that is where I first feel it. It is almost like indigestion but not really. I can just feel the food doesn't really want to go down. And soon thereafter I feel full as well. My throat is the one that really keeps me in check. I don't like that feeling! Good luck!!
  18. I struggled with depression after surgery. It took quite a toll on me. It was very hard b/c I felt like this should be the happiest time in my life .I'm finally losing weight! Yet I'm so depressed you would think I was going through a divorce. And essentially I was!! Divorcing cupcakes and candy and bagels etc etc. and pretty much all the things I had lived and breathed for. I was in loooove with the food and this surgery is kind of like cutting your heart out in a way...if your heart is with the food. I know it may sound silly but I mourned for it like I did a great love that's time had come. The good news is with each day it gets better. One day you will wake up and see things shining brighter. Just don't give up if you're walking through a rough spot. This journey takes you on many ups and downs. But in the end it is worth it!
  19. Hey there!! I hope you're doing ok and I just wanted to tell you that I completely and totally understand the compulsion to eat. I really do. I also want you to know that there is a lot of hope out there for you so don't despair. Something that is really important to be aware of is that it takes a little bit of time for the hunger hormone to get out of your system. I know many people have lost the majority of their hunger a month or so after surgery b/c that part of the stomach that produces it was removed. I vividly remember still being very hungry in the first few weeks and this was shocking to me. It scared me. I immediately became panicked feeling as if this isn't going to work. That I'm the one person it will fail. So let me tell you that you're not alone feeling like that. However, you must realize that it takes time for your body to adjust. I was told by several people on this board that the hunger hormone would go out of my body over time and it did. It really and truly did. I know we all have slightly different experiences but for me personally it took some time but it did leave my system. Once this happens you will find it much easier. Secondly, it is hard to go 100 miles an hour to a sudden stop . By that I mean, you're overeating one day and the next day you're suddenly without 80% of your stomach and on liquids. That is a drastic overnight switcheroo!! It's almost impossible to stop and do a u turn that quickly and yet that is what we're all trying to do here. To struggle with it behaviorally and in your head is totally normal. Again, you're NOT alone in this . You're NOT a failure. You are struggling with what all of us struggle with. I would advise you to stick with the plan the doctor gave you as much as you possibly can in your own strength but do this knowing that the hunger hormone will most likely be leaving your system a little every single day. And remember that it takes like 30 days to form new habits. So every day that goes by will get better. I have to advise like the others to heed the warning of not overdoing it and causing a leak. I don't want to scare you though. I just want you to be aware. But most of all you must know that you're NOT a failure! You can do this . You really can.
  20. I think you have a really good attitude. If you have researched and feel comfortable with the surgeon then it should all work out. I totally agree with you that it's important to have that support network . Will be interested to find out if you told your mom! Good luck!
  21. 12 weeks to recover?? Did she have some complications? Wow that seems unusual to me. I really think about 2 weeks was what I needed. Of course take more if you can!!

Hey I'm really excited for you! I will definitely be watching your videos. Good luck with everything!!
  23. I definitely have found this site in particular to be awesome. I used to visit another website that has been around for probably a decade or longer. At one time, it was the main place I went. However a few years ago I stumbled upon this place and thank goodness I did. Without it, I would never have chosen the sleeve and the sleeve is the best thing that ever happened to me. Which I guess means so are all of you!!
