  1. Hmmmm....I'll be interested to hear this . The only thing I can think of is the sugar and carbs? I chew sugar free gum sometimes but I'm 7 months out. Not sure if that's bad or not? Can't wait to hear the answers!
  2. What an interesting topic. I have to admit I've had some sleepless nights myself and also woken up at strange times. I really never thought it had anything to do with the surgery though. Will be interested to know what others think
  3. Try the blog World According to Eggface b/c it is SO great for food recipes and ideas!
  4. I am 7 months out and I noticed myself feeling quite hungry a lot more than normal. This really bugged me and I started researching it here on the forum. I found several threads discussing that others had this experience and it was from acid in the stomach. By taking a tums or some other similar medicine like prilosec, it went away. Apparently acid in the stomach can mimic hunger. Now I'm not sure why this would suddenly be happening. I just know that some said it does and that by taking prilosec or tums it killed it. So I tried it. And it worked! The next time I was feeling hungry when I knew I shouldn't be feeling that way I took 2 tums . It went away. I wish I had known long ago that acid in the stomach produces a similar feeling to hunger . It makes me wonder how many times in my life I've confused that with hunger . For me, this worked. I hope it helps!
  5. I can be my own worst enemy as well. Did you write those lyrics above? If so, you're a great writer!! I look forward to following your journey

  7. I definitely stopped buying clothes when I was close to surgery. I have gotten by with just replacing pants when I've dropped about 2 to 3 sizes and it becomes really really loose. I've bought 2 pairs of jeans in the past 7 months. I still wear some of my shirts and blouses. they're just really big on me! Shopping is getting a lot more fun now though!
  8. I find that the more I eat...the more I can eat. The less I eat..the less I can eat. I don't know if this makes sense or not. I just know that there are times when I seem to be able to eat more and other times I can't. I really havent' figured out why this is. I just know that if I let myself get into the habit of eating more...then I find my stomach will hold more. But when I back off, I find my stomach holds less. I wonder if anyone else feels similarly
  9. That is funny about getting cold. I can't believe that I get cold now too!! I have been hot for so long that I never thought I'd ever be cold. I have literally saved probably 200 dollars on my electric bill since this surgery. I had to keep my house so freezing cold that I was paying unbelievable amounts. Now I'm cold! I love it!
  10. Yes!! It will help with everything. I sometimes feel like I'm floating. I am sure I feel much lighter than I am in reality but having so much weight off of you makes a major difference. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it is not to have that extra weight killing your back and knees!
  11. Hi there!! I am right there with you. I have 300 to lose. I've lost 128 so far. I'm almost halfway there!! I am glad you posted b/c we all need that encouragement. I do post a lot on my blog about what I'm going through. I try to get over here too and meet others going through the same thing. we can do it!
  12. Yes, yes and yes!!!!! I went through a major depression for about the first 3 months. I wasn't quite expecting it either. I thought once my ability to overeat was taken away from me and I wasn't hungry all the time...that those 2 things would end the problem. I will say that it did get me about 75 percent of the way there. Unfortunately, there was that other part of me that just wanted the food. The act of eating, the taste...the emotional angle. This is a combined issue. A lot of it is biological, physiological...but a lot is emotional. And that truly takes time to work through. I went through a mourning period. LIke a break up. And I just missed food. But I will tell you this . Hang in there because it will pass as you work your way through it. We may always struggle on some level but it gets easier. For me, it's like breaking a habit. The longer I was away from the act of overeating and the foods that I craved the easier it became. Once again like a breakup....it's so hard at first but as time goes on it gets easier. I know how hard it is but I also know that with time and new habits forming it will get better!
  13. Congratulations! I think you are doing great!! Your weight loss sounds great to me. I'm very happy for you. good luck on your continued success!
  14. Sorry you've been sick but YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!
  15. I'm not sure about this one. Plain water is the best thing to drink! Personally I haven't had any change in taste for water. The only difference is that I can't gulp water. I can't down it. That goes for any liquid or food for that matter. However, I can drink it and it tastes fine to me. As for chewable vitamins...I use them!
  16. Wow this is really interesting!! Thank you so much for posting this!! I think this is one of the biggest fears people have about the sleeve. We always hear about this "window" that will close on us at a year or so out. But I think a lot of that is our anxiety. It's true that we can eat more as time goes on than we could in the beginning. But it's also VERY true that the stomach will never grow back and can only stretch but so much. Here we have an example at 4 years out even!! I love it. You have done a great service to everyone by posting this.
  17. Periodically I go through stalls. And the further out I get the slower the weight loss goes. I do believe that your body is always searching for a balance. It wants to be stable. It wants to hold onto the weight. I find that you have to shake it up every now and then. Shock your body in a way into not getting too comfortable. I switch up what I'm eating sometimes and what I am doing for exercise. Your body adjusts to what you're doing so switching it up confuses it lol I don't think puree would really necessarily help but I definitely would go with the low carb. For me personally, carbs and sugar are absolute killers. I basically have to limit my carbs to under 30 a day or I'm looking at slow losing. Hang in there! 300 pounds down
  18. Yeah!!!!!! That is so awesome!! I feel this way too and I also love that my sleeve reacts fine to pretty much anything . One of the reasons I picked this surgery! You're doing great. Keep turning back the clock! 300 pounds down

I completely claim that verse too!! That is my verse! It completely rings true for me and it helped me come to terms with having this surgery. Trust me...the further along you get the more you are going to love your sleeve. Before long you will probably look at it as the true stomach you were always meant to have rather than just a second choice. Honestly, I feel like I had some kind of disorder and this corrected it. I can really relate to how you're feeling on so many levels. There are a lot of emotional things you deal with after surgery and I started going to a counselor early on for that reason It really helps! Good luck with everything! 300 pounds down
  20. I feel this way sometimes but then I quickly push it out of my head. This can be self destructive if you focus on it too much. I get anxiety when I hear about this window of opportunity. It makes me depressed. But the reality is that 80 percent or so of your stomach is gone. It's not growing back. Even if it stretched out a bit it still wouldn't be what it was. So to me that isn't a window that shuts. It's a permanent open window!! lol It may be faster in the beginning but that is the way it is with all diets. All people lose weight quicker in the beginning of something. Your body is constantly trying to stabilize itself and hold onto the weight. It also adjusts to what you're doing. I think we have to constantly shake things up. Change our routines. Change what we're doing in our exercise plan. Even change what we may be eating. For me, this works. When I find my body has gotten comfortable at a certain weight, I have to do something different to shake it up. As long as I still am going down then I'm ok. Right now I've been stuck in the same range for awhile and it's frustrating. However, I know that in time it will go down and down. As long as we keep working it!! I know you can do it!
  21. I am very sorry to hear this is something you have to deal with. That really stinks!! I have heard a lot of people don't like shakes. There are some protein drinks that are not shakes but more of the clearer liquids or like fruit punch. I am pretty sure you can order them on netrition. I'm sure someone on here knows what they are. I've heard people who don't like shakes prefer those flavors...orange etc. Similar to gatorade.. And I agree about diluting them down as much as you need especially in the beginning. The most important thing is to get your liquid in and make sure your doctor stays on top of it. I hope you feel better soon!
  22. As others have said, this is the 3 week stall. I totally know how you feel!! It does happen as your body tries to stabilize itself from the loss so far. It will pick up again!
  23. I'm really starting to hear that. I wonder why that is happening. I hope your doctors are monitoring you. Hang in there!
  24. You've felt like this for 3 days? I think I would call the doctor. I've had food get stuck before when I ate too fast or drank to fast but it didn't last more than a few minutes. I'm wondering if maybe you got some food stuck and then your throat became sore afterwards. maybe you're just feeling the soreness?
