  1. I have been lurking but not had the time to get "official" until today. I am scheduled to have a VERY troublesome band converted to a sleeve on 3-18 and I am honestly scared. Not of the surgery but just at the loss of everpresent friend Mr. food. I have a few questions for you sleeve veterans. Thank you all in advance for taking the time to answer. #1) Do any of you regret the sleeve surgery or wish you had done something different. (ie RNY) #2) I only have about 60-70 pounds to lose. When you reach your goal weight how do you and your body know it's time to stop losing? What do you do differently? #3) I have a 1 year old and a 3 y/o. I would really like to be able to take 3 or 4 bites of birthday cake with them once or twice a year. (This is why I did not want a RNY. No dumping) Can you do this without a problem on a special occasions? #4) I have had a lot of problems with food poisoning and stomach virus's and other lovely things my kids bring my way. This has been agony trying to puke your guts out with the band in place. Is it the same with the sleeve, or just back to normal puking? #5) Speaking of puking. I have had nothing but trouble trying to eat with the band without drinking anything at all. Either drink with food or have it in my throat. Is this any different with the sleeve or do you feel tummy full not in your throat full? #6) We travel in Europe every year. Has anyone had trouble finding "easy" food to eat in other countries? #7) Since I have 2 very young kids, I will only have my husband to help me for 4 days after my surgery. Should I start planning my nervous breakdown now? Sorry, I know that is a lot of questions but, you know, I have saved them up for a long time and it's not that often my husband and kiddos give me this much peace and quiet for this long. Thank you all again!!! :001_rolleyes:
  2. Hi All! I have asked loads of food questions but is it just me or did anyone else kinda obsess over all the food and big meals you are going to miss out on? I keep thinking I will be miserable watching everyone around me eat whatever they like and I will be living on Protein shakes and Soup the rest of my life. I worry about complications and leaving my husband and 2 very young kids alone. I worry about having the surgery and waking up and thinking what the hell have I just done. I have asked it before but, does anyone regret having the sleeve surgery? I have searched all over the forums and I cannot find anyone so far who regrets their choice. Nor have I been able to actually find anyone who has dies from it. (In my mind, I'm sure I would be the first) I could use a little reassurance. Surgery date is 2 weeks from today.
  3. Sorry if this is a duplicate but, my computer locked up when I tried to send the earlier one. Please put my Dad in your prayers tonite. He is on life support in critical condition at Baylor Dallas. My surgery will be postponed for a while.

Second Thoughts. Did anyone else feel this?

You guys are the best. Thank you for all your support!
  5. Grapevine Mills has the best shopping around DFW (on a budget) they also a Chilis inside and dozens of great places to eat outside the mall. Also, right around the corner is The Gaylord Texas Hotel that has BEAUTIFUL places to eat inside. They can handle any number of diners and it is not expensive. This really is a stunning place on the inside. It is very easy to get to and has easy freeway access. Just a thought....

    Fried Food Hell?

I will be traveling to the rural England when I am about 2 months out of surgery. All they ever eat is bacon sandwiches with butter, (can you believe they put butter on this. No mayo in that country, especially not lite mayo) Fried fish and Chips, and Roast Beef (Not a healthy lean kind) Please, does anyone have any ideas here? Can any of you veterans handle fish at 2 months out maybe with the coating removed? I am afraid I will be malnourished by the time 1 month of this food is complete.

    Fried Food Hell?

It is nice to hear that. I too am a fat chick but I hardly ever eat really fattening stuff. I just eat a whole lot of not so fattening stuff. I don't even keep real butter in our house. But I do love me some toast with fat free butter and sugar free jam on it. Problem is, I can polish off a lot of it. Kinda defeats the purpose. I keep every spice known to man also. I hope crazy, spicy ethnic food won't be a problem after surgery. (grilled or baked of course)

Scrambled eggs were not what I expected

Does this hold true for eggbeaters as well as real whole eggs? Due to be sleeved on 3/18 and I was already looking forward to my fat free eggbeaters. (And I haven't even had surgery yet!)
