  1. I haven't been on in a while - do you still need 18 and 16s?
  2. I have told no one but my husband and a close friend and I am not sorry at all. You might have had surgery but you still have to do the work (diet and exercise) to lose the weight.
  3. BJean if you like slushies try this ... I bought an Hawai-ice machine at Target. You freeze ice in a little container and then put it in the machine and crank - you have slushie ice. I then top with sugar-free syrup. I buy mine at Sams at $4.50 a bottle but I've seen it at Publics too. Love it!
  4. My sleeve was 3/3/2010. I weighed 201 the day before surgery and I now weigh 156. My goal was 120 but now I hope to get down to 110 (I'm 5'1"). From the post here, my nut and my Dr - all this is doable. Good luck.

    Third Month is the Charm!

Anna, great post. I'm almost 4 mos out and love the way I feel. I love walking and my thighs don't rub, my knees don't hurt as bad (arthritis is still with me) and I'm not looking for the next place I can sit and rest. Sleeve life is good.

Folks - I am really scared of VACATION!!!

I went on vacation 6/11-6/18. I ate small amounts but I did have a michelob ultra 2 days during the time. I had been at a stall for the 2 weeks before and was glad to get home and find I had lost 4 lbs. Go, eat small amts of what you want and have a good time.
  7. I'm looking for 12 and 14 petite or short length pants and/or jeans. Capris are good too. PM if you have any that have outgrown you.

    puking vitamins

I also threw up the Bariatric Advantage so I switched the adult gummie vitamins. I take the Centrum Calcium and throw it in the blender with my protein shake.
  9. My Dr say no pills over 4mm for 6 months.
  10. And the think I drink Atkins for breakfast every morning...and fight constipation. Glad it doesn't have the same affect on me!! lol

    Knee arthritis anyone?

Texaschick - I have 2 bad knees and the need 2 knee replacements. I also have arthritis in my back. One of the major reasons to have this surgery was to help my arthritis and to have a better result when I have knee replacement surgery. My surgery was 3/3 and my knees get better every day. For the first 6 weeks it was all I could do to walk slowly on the treadmill 3-5 times a week for 10-20 minutes, but it helped. At 6 weeks I began using my recumbent bike again and doing power pilates (both are arthritis friendly). I recently had synvisc injections done in my knees - talk to you ortho about that - it helps the bone on bone pain.
  12. Cheers to you Tiff! I love the pix! I want one! The only problem is I'm 9 weeks out and I WANT IT NOW! LOL My weigh loss has slowed but your pix was a pick-me-up. Thanks for posting it.

    I need size 16 clothes!

Samie - how tall are you? I have some 16s but I'm 5' and wear petites. I'm moving into 14s - anyone have any petite 14s or maybe 12s?

    Not Happy.

Before surgery I went to the bookstore and bought a diet journal entitled 'I will lose weight this time'. I love it - it has a place to write everything - serving size, calories, fat, protein, carbs and also track fluids, exercise, weight etc. My plan from my Dr is 600 calories - <30 grams fat - <30 grams carbs, >60 grams protein and 64 or more fluid ounces. I checked amazon.com and it is available. I highly recommend it.

    Staple Question

I was so glad to see this posting and thank you heartonmysleeve for the information. I too have back problems and I have had a MRI of my lower back but I am now also having mid-back pain and see a possible MRI in my future and had been wondering about the staples and my feelings were that it would probably be ok after about 6 months as you would be well healed - but it was great to read that it is actually ok.
  16. Way to go Gary - looking good!

I just found this forum so I am new

Welcome. I too started looking into the band and my Dr. suggested the sleeve. I'm 5' also and started at 201. My surgery was 3/3/2010 and I did 2 weeks of clear liquids, 2 weeks of full liquids and I just completed my 3 weeks of mushies. You didn't say but I think you are probably referring to 2 weeks of liquids after surgery (some are instructed to diet prior to surgery). You will find after surgery you can only get 2 oz or so down at a time. You will do fine - it is really not that bad as you are not hungry. May 19 will be here very soon. You will find this is a great site for support. Keep in touch. K

  19. My sleeve was 3/3/2010 - thus far I have averaged 4lbs. First week was 10 which was the biggest weekly weight loss (of course) and after it has been up and down.
  20. My surgeon had me on 2 week of clear liquids and then 2 weeks of full liquids and THEN the mushies for 3 weeks.
  21. There are have been times when I doubted my decision not to tell everyone, but while reading the comments above this is not one of them. I decided that this was my decision - my body - my life and so the only people who know is my husband and a good friend (who is now considering it for herself). Yes, they know I'm dieting (again) counting calories, carbs, drinking lots of water and making sure I exercise. The only thing they do not know is that this time I have help. I have a new took to help me be successful but it will be me that will have to do the work. I did not discuss it with them while I gained weight so I am not discussing it with them while I lose it. And everyday, I am glad. Sure, I want to shout when the scales go down 5 lbs but I'm happy I have no one asking me how much I have lost on the days the scales go up 2 lbs. Will I ever tell them? Maybe, if I think it will be a benefit to them.

    Protein

Saffrondust - I love cream brulee...can you tell me where to buy believe?
  23. Ash - I had a similar experience so I kinda know how you feel. While pregnant I was in the grocery store when the elastic on my pants broke. Fortunately I was able to catch them before they hit the ground but it was embarrassing. But to have that experience from weigh loss --- you are doing awesome girl!!
  24. Tiff - when could you swallow Prilosec or Nexium?

    6 days post op

My Dr. also said don't worry about the protein the first week. Have you tried unjury chicken soup? Also their unflavored protein is ok - I got the individual packets and would add one to sugar-free pudding starting day 7. Biggest loser also make a protein you add to water - I like the blueberry, you can get it at target.
