    If given the choice younger

i had the surgery at 23 1/2, i have been overweight my whole life. i'm excited that i'm closer to "normal" now, but unfortunately my body is still very miss-shaped....i at least have a fighting chance now.
  2. Tomorrow will be my 7 month mark of being sleeved!!!! I have gone from about 252 (day of surgery) to 162!!!! that's 90lbs in 7 months! I am very very happy and very very proud! I would do it all over again in a heart beat! but my weight loss has stalled, almost stopped the last 3 to 4 weeks. the scale only seems to go up or down 2(+or-)lbs. it's very frustrating. i have NOT been a carb counter. i eat everything, just in small amounts, and make healthy choices, like i always have. i still have trouble getting 64oz of Water in. but i digress. for those of you that are 1+ years out....when did you stall/stop? is this normal? will i continue losing? is there some sorta 6 month stall that happens that i don't know about? i know everyone will give me the advice; lots of water, watch the carbs and sugar, stay active etc etc. but i'm just a little concerned. i now eat about 1000-1200 calories/day. is that too much? i get really hungry if i only eat 800 (i'm proof that the hunger DOES come back). is it normal that my hunger came back so soon? anyways, i know 90lbs is a great loss. but i am still a size 12/14 and can't buy a lot of the clothes i would like to buy :-( i'm hoping if i lose another 20lbs i could be a size 10...maybe! can anyone give me some insight or support? i would love some feedback!

    My APRON ----UGHHHH!!!!

tiffy, what kind of ab workout do you use? i have the most problems with my belly :-(
  4. you should always follow what YOUR doctor says. with that being said..EVERY doctor has a different plan! i'm a vegetarian and tried to do low carb at first, but i couldn't stick to it. now i just make good whole food-type decisions. yogurt (even the kind with sugar!), cheese, whole wheat Pasta, eggs, cottage cheese, lentil Soup, bran Cereal, milk, veggies, fruit, sf popsicles....those are the things i don't think i could live without. i was always a healthy eater, i just ate too much. my sleeve allows me to stop before i go crazy. i'm eating whole grain crackers with brie cheese right now!!! anyways. i think if i went with a low carb diet i might lose more...faster....but if i could live on a low carb diet i would have never needed the sleeve! i have lost 67 lbs in 4 months, and i have 45 to go. the last month has slowed down a lot. but i'm confident i will reach goal!
  5. ah! i thought you were supposed to lose hair at 3 months! i have a ton of hair so i'm not really worried. and the trampoline is really fun. i got one called the urban rebounder, it seems like a really good work-out, i'm so out of shape i can only do 15 minutes...ut i do it everyday and i'm sure that will change. it folds up really small, i have a tiny san francisco apartment, so i store it under the bed. but lately i've used it so much it never gets put away. anyways. i hate going to the gym, and the only thing i really liked at the gym was the eliptical, i would say this is the closest thing to an eliptical without being an eliptical! just google around...it's a fun workout. thank you everyone SO much for being there through some of the scariest parts of this experience! i'm so glad i found this forum!
  6. I haven't visited the forums in a long time! But things have been great so I wanted toupdate all of you that helped me so much in the early part of my journey. And just a few questions for old-times sake! 1) I am 4 months post op TODAY! and I have lost 67lbs since surgery, and 72lbs since my highest weight. It's amazing!!!! I didn't think I would lose THIS much! now I'm dreaming of weighing 140lbs....I'm only 45lbs away from goal! it's insane! 2) I FINALLY started an exercise program. I bought one of those mini trampolines, and I've been doing "rebounding" it's great, and really fun, easy on your joints. I think everyone should do it!!!! 3) I am a size 14! 5) I don't count my carbs :-x I know everyone was so worried about the carbs. But I haven't been counting them and I do just fine. I make sensible food choices (yogurt, whole wheat Pasta, cheese, veggies, fruit, seafood etc) and it seems to work just fine for me. Lastly....I haven't lost my hair. AT ALL! Is it going to happen still? I keep waiting, and no sign of hair loss!
  7. so this is my first month sleeved....and i'm still finding so many new questions! i'm pms'ing right now....and feeling quite hungry for sweets and carbs....nothing like before when i wasn't sleeved. but on a daily basis i don't feel very hungry or have strong cravings. do you still get cravings before your period? i used to eat SO much more the week before my period than usual. i'm not really eating more right now, but i feel myself getting hungrier! is this normal??? thanks for the help sleeve sisters!!!
  8. the first few days i had terrible vomiting and dry heaves. but they subsided by day three.
  9. so i'm officially 3 weeks post-op! i feel so much better, i've already lost 24lbs! yay! it's so exciting! what i'd like to know is how many of you are super strict with the low carbs? i have drasticly reduced my carbs, but i still go over the 30g recomended. right now i'm still eating mushy/soft foods....but in the future i'd like to be able to have apples, vegetables, maybe a cracker or two with my tofu egg salad. will i sabotage my weight loss if i keep a low calorie count with a slightly elevated carb (maybe 40-60g/day) intake?
  10. What about carbs too? Some of the things I can actually get to go down are really mushy oatmeal or mashed potatoes, I feel guilty about the carbs! And the dehydration....how does it work? I mean why does that cause a stall?
  11. already tried the crystal light :-/ no difference
  12. so i'm 16 days post op. i've lost a little over 20lbs! but i can see my weight loss slowing down....and i think it's my low calorie intake. i have yet to get all my Water and Protein in....try as i may, it still hurts going down!!!! just a few bites of something (sf pudding, thick Protein shake, yogurt, even water!!!!) and it feels terrible....like i swallowed rocks and they're churning in my stomach. does this go away? my calorie intake is only about 200-300/day, is that okay for the stage i'm at? i know i'm dehydrated....but water almost seems to cause me the most pain. am i sabotaging my weight loss? it just sucks!! i'm not hungry at all....just thirsty, but again, drinking is so uncomfortable. does this get better with time? megan
  13. so would water be an exception? i can understand not consuming more than 2oz of food in a 15minute period....but water....is that going to stretch my sleeve?????
  14. so i'm finally feeling ok when i drink Water. and i'm able to drink maybe 1/2c of water in 15 minutes...maybe more....i still have not met 64oz/day because usually it's been painful just to drink! anyways, i was going ovr the paperwork dr aceves gave me and it says not to consure more that 2oz in a 15minute period. i can consume more than that in a 15minute period....but just with liquids, water, thin Soups etc is that ok??? can i consume liquids that quickly without stretching my sleeve? it doesn't specifiy so i'm concerned!!! anyone that knows let me know please! <3
