  1. 2 years have passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary hypn!

  2. As it so turned out my phobia in life is diaree - you can dish up anything else place me in a spider chamber when it comes to upset stomachs - not my thing - As you mention several people I spoke to mention that the problem with fatty food dissapears, being sleeved and only 3 months post opp means that my fatty food intake is little at best and I hope this will survise. The Doctor warned me that since this is my third laproscotic surgery, it makes finding the gallbladder a problem because the intestines get moved around during the surgery's. Then again he is one of the "warning's first" doctors which always helps, no matter how bad the surgery you still think you did well - lol More nervous about this than the sleeve !!!!!!
  3. Nice to see the positive comments. Because of the Gastric sleeve surgery they might have to do a open procedure (not sure why) - this is like having wisdom teeth removed - easier to deny and look away than face it head on - One thing I know for certain is that I don't want to experience that pain ever again.
  4. Hi All I am three months post - op today but last night I experienced the worst pain I have ever experienced, after all the blood tests and xrays today the Dr. informed me that my gallbladder has to be removed. A "google" search on the topic left me wondering if it is a good idea, warnings of diarria and constant pain has me slightly concerned. Any people who have undergone this surgery that could share the pro's and con's. Could I ignore the operation or should I just face the fact head on ? Thanks Andre
  5. What a incredible reply "tiffykins" truly appreciate the help. Have to admit I have never been a salad person and because the band was not all that salad friendly I avoided it at all cost, which as you say could be part of the reason. South Africa does not sell benifiber but I am going to try and get my hands on some. The funny thing is that I hate Yoghurt and also only eat eggs, not the worlds most incredible food. I stopped at the chemist and purchased Probiflora daily, which I will take with the change in diet. I think my problem is lack of healthy food versus my normal obese food my entire life. I also ran into the problem when I had the band but only ever so often which at the time I decided must be some form of lactose intolerance. Thanks again Andre
  6. Hi All, Please help I am 2 months post opp. this week. My meals consist of very little food (which I understand and I am happy with). Mornings would be egg on toast (one quarter), lunch for the most part quarter glass of milk to get tablets down and then supper would be a little experimentation such as possible chicken or pie (small portion). The problem is that I do not need to ever use the bathroom (which is fine being that I am eating less) but then suddenly one day I would have to rush off with a mixture of diarrhoea and normal stomach. I usually counteract this with immodium This is normally followed by a week of nothing and then the same story again. I am obviously doing something to irritate my stomach but because I work on the road this type of unexpected problem needs to be avoided. Need to mention that I was a ex. bandster and I wonder if the carbs could have some contribution (had no carbs for 5 years) Any advice will be helpful Regards Andre ps I drink coffey and tea during the day, I know "liquids in - liquids out" but how do you avoid this :party4:

    eating has become a problem

I am so sure I had "mash" at KFC in Orlando on my last visit. Glad however to report that the MASH is now sliding down, as a matter of fact as the group predicted healing makes eating easier. A observation that someone in the group might be able to explain. With the band I would not touch dry food. chicken was a guarantee to a sliming episode for hours at end, yet it seems to me that the opposite holds true with the sleeve. Dry food gives me no trouble what so ever (obviously in very small quantities). Another quick question is the liquid in Liquid out problem. Although it's no longer a massive problem I explore caves for a hobby, when I finally reach the surface Water tastes like heaven in a bottle but the next day I will suddenly suffer from a upset stomach ????? Slightly annoying if you are in the bush with no ablution facilities. Any surefire remedies - I am one month and 20 days out - down 16.6 kg's - (36 pounds)

    eating has become a problem

Thank you everybody for the help. I think I must have had a heart burn attack of a nature never experienced before and maybe mash (South African) will be on the "do not touch" list for now. I put myself on heartburn meds, my Doc is still very new with this procedure but will consider staying on it for a longer period (did go off it two days ago). Love the idea of the salty cracks with some cottage cheese. It's funny I am in perfect health and I suppose that is why I expect more than what my body can actually deliver. Back to the "old school" for now. After all I do have my entire life to eat, a few months is not a killer - lol Thanks again everybody Andre

    eating has become a problem

thank you for the support. I found a site which made reference to "byle" which could cause the burning sensation. Either way the burning is gone for now, but would hate a repeat.
  10. Hi All, I am now 4 week post-op and I am finding it near impossible to get food down. I would make a egg, and eat a little of it after which I will "burp" for the next 20 min and feel terrible. Tonight I had mash from Kentucky, but three teaspoons full and this was followed by the worst burning sensasion I have ever felt. It felt like my stomach was on fire. I manage to stop the sensation by sipping on tea (took about 60 min) At a meeting this weekend I picked up a crisp from the treats table, thought I would see what it does, and no problem what so ever - I did not even feel any discomfort. Obviously I am not doing the eating thing right. I was banded prior to sleeve and learning the eating pattern was easy, what am I not understanding - please help :biggrin0: Any idea's on the cause of the incredible burning sensation would also be appreciated, first time I ever experienced this and that after such a small amount of mash ? It really felt like my stomach was on fire Thanks in advance Andre
  11. Thank you for the help, had a Imodium last night after reading the posts and the best nights sleep in a long time
  12. You guys are great, had a leak test on Wednesday which I knew was going to trigger the diarrhea and as per clockwork it did (my stomach is never that stable.). I have now had three days of the same problem but as a newbie now six days out I will admit that I drink a lot (sip a lot) up to a litre of Water over a few hours and the Liquids in liquids our rule seems to excists. I find that the minute I sip and sip and sip, it's like a bucket spilling it's content. Would less liquid over a longer time make a difference and does it ever disappear completely ?
  13. Thank you SO much for the welcome and the brilliant advice. I have committed to start walking a lot as of today, as I was a self pay it would be a bit senseless ending with complications because I did not keep my side of the deal. I have to admit that I have been privileged with Water in being able to sip the entire day in very small amounts. I have to admit that I started doubting my conversion yesterday, probably because the permanence of the operation set it and because you always wish to believe that there is that one diet that you would have succeeded in but after 25 years and so many diets and the "lap-band" the truth should set in Thank you for all the valuable replies and please keep on mailing, unline with the band I have found the sleeve info limited Thanks again to all Andre
  14. Hi Everybody, Quick introduction, my name is Andre, I reside in South Africa. Am I band to sleeve revision and I was sleeved 2 days ago on Monday 19th at 4pm. Tomorrow I need to go for a leak test as a safety check and then it's up to me to create my destiny. Since discharge from hospital I have stuck with only clear liqueds (mostly sports drinks) and today tried to sip down my second cup of tee this week. I am not aware of Isopure in South Africa and will look for a replacement to drink from next week. Only real pain I have is when ever I need to "burp" more like air escaping than burping. Has any of the more experienced sleevsters got a tip for this problem. Other than that I am incredibly tired, sleeping approx 22 hours out of 24 but I trust this will also dissapear pretty quickly. Any advice that members might have would be appreciated. Regards Andre
