  1. Good luck and enjoy your journey!
  2. I love eggface, love her attitude about life also. Two more sites that I think Tiffy posted was Recipezaar and Bigoven.com which both I believe break it down for you. I want to try them all! My husband is getting into the low carb healthy eating too. Always helps if your significant other is on board with the new eating habits.
  3. Cajun, just saw this post. No I don't get this pain. I think you had your gallbladder out also? I have heard several referred pains through and around to the back with gallbladder dz but that isn't your case. I've never heard you say this bf, is it just recently? What about your issue with the diverticulum? Just tossing that out there. Linda
  4. That is my question also. I am a selfpay and thank heaven I haven't had any complications, 8 weeks out, but when I go for my 3 month check up with my PCP I am to have an upper GI x-ray. Can I get past the insurance with say stomach issues? I have Cigna.
  5. Go on Youtube and put in zumba. It looks like so much fun but good cardio. I plan to take one at the back of the class bc I know I won't be able to finish the whole thing at first. One class does it with weights for some sculpting. Can't wait!
  6. Lan2K, I just saw your post, thank you so much for your thoughts. I feel for you having to deal with this issue while you are post op and maybe this has hindered you from healing like you should, our kids can hurt us so much! Your daughter is only thinking of herself and not her son. I am afraid of the same thing with my two grandchildren, that she might lose them and I will be on the outside and not part of their lives. You give so much of yourself while you can and hope for the best. If my son in law gets primary custody he will not care what is good for them, he has turned into a hateful person, really mental. The only saving grace is he loves those children and they love him. Thanks again for your thoughts and lets hope that our daughters will shape up soon! Linda
  7. Tiff, You are in my prayers, this will be over and behind you soon. I'm also so glad that your husband and son will be able to be with you to help post op. Speedy recovery! Linda
  8. Hoorayyyy Dee dee! So happy for you, I have to admit that you have looked normal for a long time in your pics. BTW, when I open this post it takes up the whole page, don't know what happened. Just your post. Congrats you hot girl!!!

The pre op diet depends on the surgeon. Some of us only had to do an Atkins type, low carb/ high protein diet and others had a liquid diet of protein shakes, depending on how much weight pre-op and again what the surgeon wants. Mine was the low carb one and was very doable for me, (one week). It is very important to follow their orders to help your surgery risks.
  10. Hey Stoongal, so good to hear from you again. You will be able to help Marilyn through this with your good upbeat advice. You know my husband brought home a 35lb bag of dog food and I could hardly budge it off the floor and that is how much weight I have lost. Amazing what the body accommodates and no surprise that your ankles, knees, joints ache. Good luck Marilyn on your journey! Linda
  11. I am so sorry you went through this. There is another poster, Shontel, I believe that had an abscess also, very painful. Please take care of yourself and start working that sleeve!
  12. I am excited for you to get rid of all these meds you are taking and it certainly is possible. I was on BP meds and after surg don't take any and I know of several bloggers that are off their diabetes medicines after the sleeve. Good luck on your journey!
  13. Tiffy, I am so sorry, and you were feeling so good for so long! What were your symptoms? I have heard some patients are given a certain medicine by their surgeon and sometimes helps, were you? Take care and the best on your surgery next week!
  14. Thin, I know the feeling you are talking about, you have to get up to give your stomach room and walk around. Uncomfortable but its that or up it will come. Also I have to have very soft scrambled eggs, almost runny mush, just too thick and heavy. Carol, good for you being on the other side! We stayed an extra day bf going on our cross country flight and I walked the halls which helped me so much prepare for the flight. You are going to do so well on your journey!
  15. I don't know about that much 5 days out from surgery. I do know that I could handle a lot more liquids than when I went on to thick soups and mushies. I could not handle very much and had to get used to the slow chewing, slow eating. The liquids slide down so much easier.
  16. Yay Chancie, I'm so happy for you getting into a new relationship. Its so hard to guard your heart all the time and never experience someone new. You have the right attitude and I hope you have a wonderful relationship. Glad you are skipping tonight, we have such nasty weather also, south of you in northern Alabama, sleeting! Linda
  17. Everything will get better from here. The initial nausea is rough but each day it gets better. We also had an extra day to rest up bf we flew home and I ended up walking the halls back and forth moving that gas. I think the hotel was fine but so glad to get home after a long flight. Wish I was down in the keys right now!! Good luck.
  18. You know it, good luck on your surgery, you will love Dr. Aceves and his staff. Or maybe you know them already with the band. Post when you can and we'll be thinking of you!
  19. This is very hard for me to say but my daughter is getting a divorce, and it is turning out to be bitter. The hard part is the two beautiful grandchildren that I babysit for so that she can go back to school. I realize that the degree she gets will help her and her children live a better life but she has totally become absorbed day and night studying and everything is on hold, including her children who also love their dad. The father has been verbally abusive to her in front of the kids and the separation has been good for that, but he is a better father to them than she is and they miss him so much! I am torn and try to talk to her to be there for them, prioritize but she says this is what I have to do for now. The children are young, 3 and 5 and they need her! I cannot stand the father other than he is so good with the children but feel they would be better off with him? I don't know what to do. I am doing all I can to make them know they are loved...
  20. Thin, I don't know but maybe you have a virus or something. Your intestinal tract was irritated by something and it is the time of year for viruses. Also keep up your liquids, maybe some gatorade to keep up the electrolytes, warm teas, popsicles anything until this passes. Don't eat if you start throwing up, but the liquids are very important. Let your doctor know if this doesn't improve. Good Luck Linda
  21. Greatful, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your surgery date. Just have to say that's my birthday so I will definitely be thinking of you and sending you good thoughts! If you have any questions please ask away, this is a very giving forum that will get you the answers!
  22. Dr. Aceves told me after I ran out of Nexium, (about 2 months worth that I bought in Mex), that I could switch to prilosec OTC. I was to stay on these meds atleast 3 months, not 6. The prilosec also is a small pill easy to get down. I do want to wean myself off this but will not do it bf then. I sometimes get that empty feeling with the Nexium and think it might be acid production in the stomach, so am glad of the meds now. Don't know of the difference between prevacid and prilosec.

Thanks for the nutritional hints. Good for you on your exercising, you are doing great! Give Cooper a big kiss for helping you stay on track!
  24. Thanks for sharing Tiffy, I knew you had complications but didn't know you were on your own, how awful for you. If anyone had a right to regret you did. Now look at you, what a strong role model and support for this forum!
  25. My stomach will still knot up on me occasionally, just like a spasm, feels good to rub it. Don't know what causes it but is more prevalent in the early evening. Something warm does feel good like Tiff said. The other night I cheated and had popcorn that just dissolved in my mouth and went down so easy...too easy. Got to be careful.
