    Boughie size comparison

I like that AJW, right to the point and pertinent questions answered.
  4. Just to add another note for putting your complaint out there for the public. When you go online for a phone number, yellow or white pages, sometimes they have a place to rate this doctor. Its worth it to get the info out there for the public. The office staff needs to have some consequences for their poor treatment of you.
  5. My doctor used a 36, and I know there are others that have smaller, 34 I believe. I know the difference is very small when you compare. Good luck on your decision.

    The new me???

I will be seeing my mom and sister next month and have not told them beyond that I have been on a diet, so will see if I tell them after the reaction. My sister is heavy and struggled all her life and now has diabetes and I wish she would have this surgery but of course it is a big decision and I wouldn't want to encourage it and then maybe not be right for her. Hope your visit is a positive one for you with no drama concerning your new healthy body.

    Four Weeks Out

Good luck staying focused. When I was that early out it seemed I wasn't getting enough protein in and water for sure and the more I pushed the protein the faster the weight came off. Guess your body has to get used to not holding on to every pound if it thinks you are starving.

    Coffee... How Naughty, Really?

I have been drinking 1/2 caff/decaf, about 3/4 cup, with sugarfree choc syrup and top it off with soy milk every morning after my prilosec and it goes down great. I have to say by the end of the day my stomach is still full from lunch but I get that hunger feeling so wonder if my stomach acid is too much, or need more/better medicine? I only take one prilosec 20mg. Do I need more?

    Family issues

I had a very difficult weekend with my husband and his daughter, who can do not wrong. We've been married 17 years and I also have a daughter, close in age to his. Long story short, his daughter has gotten a college education/ condo money for downpayment and the hands off treatment and I mostly just go along with it. My daughter has been through a lot growing up and has had problems with my husband but he never sees her side. I'm not saying shes perfect for sure but not the shining daughter he has. His daughter said some hurtful things about me and when my daughter told me I said "thats enough". Before I would have swallowed it and hoped it smoothed over, certainly never confront my husband. Well....not any more. I think this surgery has helped me be a person whos opinion matters, I had a big problem causing fights and avoided them at all costs, with the result of stuffing myself with food. Well...not any more. The roof shook and it felt SO GOOD!!! I told him I would not be second to anyone and he could go live with her, well you get the idea. I was spitting nails. We have had several talks since then and I stood by my opinions and he backed down, told him I would always voice my thoughts whether he liked them or not and not stuff them again. The same thing to his daughter. I am sure she could continue to cause trouble and know these things break up marriages but it is his decision to live with that, not mine. Long story but I just wanted to tell you that you will change if you push your new boundaries and believe in yourself. No going back.

    VSG & Chest/Sinus cold/infections

Gee, I never thought of the drainage filling your sleeve, and I know how that darn sinus junk can drain/ plus coughing. I would hate to have to deal with that. Hope your tummy is o.k. This is the season for everything. Forewarned and feel better.

    Valentine's Day

Thanks for the update. When I think of things to do to celebrate I am starting to move away from going to a restaurant for now. Used to eat out so much and will for my husband but can think of other things I'd rather do, movie, travel weekend etc.

so lost, what do you do?

Are you in a lot of pain with the endometriosis? Will it be an elective surgery for you that you can wait until later after your VSG? If you lose the weight first I would think it would help with the GYN surgery as long as you are able to wait. Usually endometriosis causes scar tissue in your pelvic area from endometrial tissue implantation and can damage the fallopian tubes, ovaries and also be very painful. I would be very interested to hear what your VSG surgeon says, who should be able to help you make that decision. I'm sorry for this news from your GYN, and surprised at the recent dx after all this time. Good Luck

    TnTPoP Sayin' "Hi!"

Welcome TNT! Whoever "pops", we get it and wish you the best on your journey. If you have done 5 years of research you are definitely ready! Good Luck!
  20. Look how little you look...great pic!!

  21. Welcome determined! I am from Evansville but had my sleeve surgery in Mx in Dec. My bmi was too low and my insurance would not cover the sleeve now. I didn't want all the hassle of prepsych, weight loss and extensive out of pocket pre-ops tests that the local bariatric surgeon wanted. (I don't live in Evansville now). There is a site here that you can go to for evaluating your surgeon to help you decide if your surgeon is right for you. Center for excellence sounds great and they probably have a lot of follow-up care that isn't provided with a Mx surgeon, other than prompt emails with concerns. Good luck on your journey and please post any questions you have here, everyone is so open and helpful, I could not have done this without them.
  22. Ky.hen,

    Question

I have to say I am self conscious when we go out to eat and all the food they bring you at restaurants and only eat a couple of bites, and especially the other night it was standing room only waiting for a table. I had an audience. So don't think going out to eat is a treat any more, not for now. For some people, they eat and sleep about food, and this surgery, I don't care how miserable fat they are, will not work for them. Food is their life and they would have to do some serious psychological counseling, very serious decision to make. I am not regreting this at all but for those on the fence, please be sure this is right for you.
