Allergic to the tape? Anyone with advice?
Itstime replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know what you mean. My sites were irritated and red with the tape, worse on the last to heal drain site. I took my shower, put alcohol on them then covered with dermatape that was especially for sensitive skin. I was told not to put anything else on them and especially caution putting any creams/antibiotic on the sites. Air dry if possible, I used the hair dryer, and then recover them. I have really sensitive skin and was able to finally heal. Last cover I used was a small spot bandaid and the tape left a little ring for awhile. Please let your doctor know if it looks infected. Good luck. Linda -
Sleeved yeterday and feeling bad
Itstime replied to tennessee1031's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember sucking on ice cubes, felt good to me. Just depends what does it for you Your tummy is swollen and sore and won't feel good for a day or two. It does get better! Please make yourself walk, it moves the gas. Dr. Campos kept asking me if I had passed gas and if I had he high fived me. Never was glad of that bf!! -
Gallbladder issues and surgery
Itstime replied to Tiffykins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Charity, Please don't do that, too risky. Your gallbladder duct is incredibly small and if one of those stones breaks loose you will create an attack that will force you into surgery. Not to mention what those liquids could do to your sleeve. I have scanned patients with gallbladder dz and it is so painful. Please find a way to get your surgery with a good surgeon, it is worth it. Good luck, Linda -
You know, it sounds like it was a good thing for this to happen. He was able to remove scar tissue that could have hurt you down line for sure, so with a clean bill you are on your way. So happy for you! Linda

I miss food also. We went out to eat to sushi and I always loved most everything there but of course I could only eat about 4 bites of the best tuna, but no more would go down. Its almost a mourning for the comfort food gave me. Have to replace it with something, I know and I am so happy with my weight loss, but your right it is very complex. Stay away from good restaurants for now.

I hear you, I believe you don't have as much to lose and it might come off slower. I do the same thing, lose a lb here and half lb there, few days later it goes down again, so I don't get uptight in between. Stay the course with protein and fluids and exercise and it has got to budge!

What is everyone's exercise routine? New and long timers
Itstime replied to kermit_ojp's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Well I did my first Zumba class and what fun! Small problem at the start of theclass, some tmi, I've been really constipated lately and last night I had some fresh cherries. In the back of my mind I knew they can give me cramps and bm's but I figured no problem with nothing moving anyway. WRONG. Had to run to the bathroom twice and I was loving the class! Success!!! So will not eat cherries again but the instructor lets you watch her first and then do it for the neebies. Also some weights for upper body that kicks butt or should I say arms. Reminds me of jazzercise with latin music and moves. Definitely worth a try. -
Good luck and enjoy your journey!

I love eggface, love her attitude about life also. Two more sites that I think Tiffy posted was Recipezaar and Bigoven.com which both I believe break it down for you. I want to try them all! My husband is getting into the low carb healthy eating too. Always helps if your significant other is on board with the new eating habits.

Cajun, just saw this post. No I don't get this pain. I think you had your gallbladder out also? I have heard several referred pains through and around to the back with gallbladder dz but that isn't your case. I've never heard you say this bf, is it just recently? What about your issue with the diverticulum? Just tossing that out there. Linda

That is my question also. I am a selfpay and thank heaven I haven't had any complications, 8 weeks out, but when I go for my 3 month check up with my PCP I am to have an upper GI x-ray. Can I get past the insurance with say stomach issues? I have Cigna.

Go on Youtube and put in zumba. It looks like so much fun but good cardio. I plan to take one at the back of the class bc I know I won't be able to finish the whole thing at first. One class does it with weights for some sculpting. Can't wait! -
Lan2K, I just saw your post, thank you so much for your thoughts. I feel for you having to deal with this issue while you are post op and maybe this has hindered you from healing like you should, our kids can hurt us so much! Your daughter is only thinking of herself and not her son. I am afraid of the same thing with my two grandchildren, that she might lose them and I will be on the outside and not part of their lives. You give so much of yourself while you can and hope for the best. If my son in law gets primary custody he will not care what is good for them, he has turned into a hateful person, really mental. The only saving grace is he loves those children and they love him. Thanks again for your thoughts and lets hope that our daughters will shape up soon! Linda

Tiff, You are in my prayers, this will be over and behind you soon. I'm also so glad that your husband and son will be able to be with you to help post op. Speedy recovery! Linda -
Hoorayyyy Dee dee! So happy for you, I have to admit that you have looked normal for a long time in your pics. BTW, when I open this post it takes up the whole page, don't know what happened. Just your post. Congrats you hot girl!!!

The pre op diet depends on the surgeon. Some of us only had to do an Atkins type, low carb/ high protein diet and others had a liquid diet of protein shakes, depending on how much weight pre-op and again what the surgeon wants. Mine was the low carb one and was very doable for me, (one week). It is very important to follow their orders to help your surgery risks.

Hey Stoongal, so good to hear from you again. You will be able to help Marilyn through this with your good upbeat advice. You know my husband brought home a 35lb bag of dog food and I could hardly budge it off the floor and that is how much weight I have lost. Amazing what the body accommodates and no surprise that your ankles, knees, joints ache. Good luck Marilyn on your journey! Linda

Hematoma Hell after Revision

I am so sorry you went through this. There is another poster, Shontel, I believe that had an abscess also, very painful. Please take care of yourself and start working that sleeve! -
It is not enough to be thinner...it is much more.

I am excited for you to get rid of all these meds you are taking and it certainly is possible. I was on BP meds and after surg don't take any and I know of several bloggers that are off their diabetes medicines after the sleeve. Good luck on your journey!
