  1. Ruthi, you are in my area! I am in Anaheim.

Your weight loss slow down could be due to building muscle? I want the weight to just fall off like it did for Susan. LOL anyway I know I am getting smaller even when the scale does not move.

    Surgery 10/15/2009

Hi Janet, I had surgery in 10/15 also! we are sleeve sisters from a different surgeon. ahahah Lets stay in touch. My burping subsided after about week 3. Now at one month out, I do not burp at all. I used to giggle when I would burp, and say my new tumm is saying howdy. Just introducing herself into the family. Ya gotta laugh at these things, right? good luck keep posting.

    slight setback

Norma, I need knee replacement also. Please post your research and results here. I had both knees injected with SynviscOne in Sept. Dr. wants me to loose weight first. I want me to loose weight first. Plus I want to try to wait until Medicare will cover (2 years). I am mobile now with out cane or walker. And taking it very easy on my knees. I am exercizing on a recumbant bike. and doing upper body strength training in a sitting position. My Dad had both knees replaced. I went through the first surgery with him. He was hospitalized for a week. He was home and a therapist came every day at 1PM for two weeks. He was in moderate pain during this time, but handled it well with meds. His second knee he went to water therapy after and that recovery went much better for him. Mind you he was 78 and 79 for these surgerys. If he would have still been working I think he could have gone back to work (limited) after the third week. and fully by the 5th or 6th week. People go to work with a cast on limbs all the time while recovering, so depending on your work activity, you will be able to determine when you can go back. Good luck to you, keep us posted.
  5. twobluecats: yea! good for you! I am so glad you could re-schedual Disney! All for the good. It is so inspiring to hear everyone talk about their trials and how they overcome them. Road blocks, look out here comes the loosers bench to knock you outta the way. I would say "sister power" but their are guys on this bench, so "looser" power instead. lol. Rock on.

    Depression After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

You need to re-focus on the positive side. Come on girl, pull up your big girl panties. Instead of being disgusted with the gurgling sounds your stomach is making, think- hey, my brand new tiny tumm is talking to me, getting reaquainted with my brain. I am gonna get myself outta the way and let them talk to each other. Think I will turn up the music while they talk. Sex drive on the up swing? and you think this is a bad thing? How old are you--I mean how young? Crimminey, sex drive on the up swing is a good thing, it is a perk of this surgery that I did not know could happen. Along with the better bladder. I love these extra little perks. Now how to deal with the sex drive in a positive way, being as you are single. (you are not the only single girl in the world) Exercize. Yup exercize, it burns off all kinds of energy. Good and bad. Get creative. Paint, draw, write, sculpt, scrapbook, clean your closets. Seriously, when you use your creative side, a passion comes out that takes over and the sex drive goes there and kind of redirects. Think of this as a class you are taking. You are learning a little each day. It will all be revealed in the course of a semester. or two. Comfort, comfort yourself with pampering. Long hot baths. Manicures, pedicures. If on a tight budget give yourself the Mani, pedi. go get movies, comedy's, from your library. Great old movies and have hot soup/broth instead of what you used to eat. Setup "dates" for yourself to have a time to read, walk in a new place. I go to a different park once a week and read a bit and walk a bit. I am near the ocean so I walked a pier and saw some dolphin it was so cool. I would have never done that before. BTW people fish from thoes piers and catch the littlest fish and eat them! um not for me. Looks like they are eating bait fish. lol. anyway, nature is a great distraction and uplifting experience. Even in bad weather. Try some of this, see how you feel. Mourning the loss of food: I miss my Mom, but she would come back and kick my butt if she saw me wallowing in depression about loosing her. You have the power to change how you feel. Come on, try! You are getting on the loosers bench with me and I want a funny teammate. If not funny at least interesting Okay? If you do try and your depression is still continuing, then it is time to get some professional help. I really want you healthy and happy, so what ever it takes--do it.
  9. Wow! Congrats to you! You have prevailed in all your "road blocks" you are going to do soooo well with the sleeve on your side. (your inside, hahahaha) Keep reading and posting here. I am so excited for you.

    new to forums & vsg

You are doing fine. You would know if it was wrong. Vomiting, not being able to swallow. Your tumm will let you know what is does not want. Just remember to chew you food too tiny liquid bits. I learned not to swallow a "wadded up " bit. Just to spit it out. take it slow.
  11. carolyn24seven

    I still have questions...

yes, you are right on target. Do not worry if you do not loose on the pre op diet. When you have the sleeve, you will loose. I am one month post op today and I am down 26 lbs. I am so loving it. THe liquid part of the diet was tedious, but, I knew my brand new tiny tummy needed time to adjust and so I gave it the time as I knew I would be able to eat normal food soon enough. I have fallen in love with the protein shakes, and soups. I am glad I had the surgery in the fall, cause all the hot liquids are so soothing. I guess in the summer you would just have a lot of SF popcycles. HA anyway, good luck to you and do not worry.
  12. Just look to the right. click on any of the ads. and Yes alot of us have done surgery in Mexico. Dr. Almanza in Tiajuana Mex, and, Dr. Aceves in Mexicali Mex, are the two Dr.'s mentioned here the most. Both are good according to the posts. You have to do the research and decide for yourself. Take your time, keep posting your questions. We will help you. Welcome to the VSG board.

    First Procedure

Would someone plese sart chiming in with the surgerys they have had done? How much and where. Like how much did you pay for a TT and where did you get it done. the same for Boobage. and bat wing removal. How about leg lift? lipo? I want in on a group discount in vegas if you all put one together. I think for me a TT with lipo is gonna be first. (hopefully only) nah who am I kidding. gotta have boobage done too. I love my girls and am gonna be real sorry to see them go. ~sigh~
  14. Joon: My thoughts and prayers go out to your friend. I wish him well, hope he gets in "remission" if that is the correct term, and lives another long time. The "gross" subject: I have gotten 2 boils in the last year. I never thought it was about the weight. That just never occured to me. Facial hair, yeah, some. no pimples or acne. I will post here if the facial hair thins out as the weight comes off, and if the boils go away. My husband has them too only smaller. maybe his will go away if mine do? thinoneday: funny story about Indians and no hair. when I was in High school and complaining/whining about having to shave my legs every day (think mini skirts) a male friend told me if I would sleep with him I would not have as much hair as he was 1/2 Indian and they do not have hair on their bodies. He would inject me with the Indian gene. HA HA I am blonde but not that blonde. I was young but not that young. He was really cute though, and he did not have much hair on his arms like other guys.

    Wisdom about the sleeve

    1. Drink water, sips, often . I carry a fresh bottle into the car with me every day. 2. Get your protein, I like Myoplex by EAS chocolate cream. I drink 3OZ several times a day. 3. walk, move, reach, breath deep. get into a regular exercise progam as soon as you are allowed to by your Dr. even if it is just walking around the "block". Exercize is the key. Making time for yourself is paramount. 4. Yes, 4. I need to add one more. Enjoy the little Non Scale Victories that come daily. Even write them down. Just the little feelings of happiness that come along so unexpectedly. The way my husband is looking at me now. I met some nice neighbors since walking. There are beautiful leaves falling now, that I get to kick with my feet-that I can see w/out bending over. Looking forward to finding a new soup. Having my hairdresser notice my skin looks better, (she did not notice/comment the weight loss) Painting my toe nails without getting winded. Bladder leaks gone. Those are a few little things I am enjoying. So, that is my 4 top things you need to do/expect after surgery.

    Urinary question

I am better since surgery. Do not know if it is becase of the weight loss or because my stomach is so much smaller and not pressuring my bladder? I do not have to wear a pad any more. No drips/leaks anymore. I pee normal. The surgery helped me in that reguard. I did not expect that little bonus!

surgery - just under 3 wks ago

Piglet you are doing great. Just listen to your body/new-tiny-tummy. If it feels full, stop no matter what you have eaten. I had a bite of something the other day and went, um-no. Just did not eat any more of it. I still love my soups. and there is always cottage cheeze if you are eating out. I haven't started ordering anything for myself yet. I just eat some of what ever my husband gets. I drink the protein when we get home. Keep posting and good job!
  19. gingin33: I am happy you are going forward. You will be fine. You are on an amazing journey. I feel so great loosing this weight. You have done your research and are informed, and ready. Go with the positive spirit, and my prayers for your healthy recovery to a new great life! You will not be sorry.
  20. I am behind you 100% You will do fine. Please do not leave us. We care about you. I am so sorry you have this trial to go through. You will prevail. It will be interesting to see what different post op issues you will have as compaired to ours. Bet there are not as many as we thinkk. Keep posting, please.
  21. I could not have done Disney either. I am almost a month out, my energy levelis not back to normal yet. I still take naps. I am gaining strength every day and am working out at the gym (bike) but to go to Disney and all the walking and rides etc? don't think so. I would be back at the hotel a lot and feeling bad because my husband would be "curtailed". That in mind, know yourself. Do you recover quickly? the post diet is really easy to follow. It is soup, protein and water. You can do that anywhere. I hope you get the surgery in before Thanksgiving, then you will have more recovery time before Disney. Do what is best for you and your healthy recovery. Good luck!

3 weeks and 3 days post op STALL?

keep drinking the protein drinks. I have found myoplex by EAS, Chocolate cream is good for me. I just pour out 3oz. at a time 4 times a day. I am working on getting to 5 times a day or one bottle a day. I still only get down about 4 or 5 oz at a "meal" 30 min to do that. I am 3 1/2 weeks post. So I "snack" on protein drink. Water is hard for me to get in as much as I should. I am a work in progress. I will not give up.
  23. I looked at alot of before and afters. I have to say they look younger to me. Vegas Angel for example. wow she looks like she dropped 20 years. Now these are not close up pictures so we cannot see the wrinkles. Just far away full body shots. Another really good looking after is Susan the supermoderator of this site. She just looks hot. I did see a close up of her face and it looked fine? So I am not going to worry about it. I think I will just deal with what ever comes. At least we will be healthy enough to deal with it. LOL

3 weeks and 3 days post op STALL?

Can you kick up the exercize a bit? Since I have been going to the gym riding the bike, wow it is sure coming off fast. are you still losing inches? you need a nsv. Non scale victory. Think about it, have you had anything happen that was kinda cool? Pants big? Have to use a pin in your blouse to keep it on your sholders? Watched someone eat and not had any hunger for that item?
