Cost?
WASa, Are you saying that for any sleeve surgery there is insurance policy you can get for complications? Tell me more-how do you get this and how much is it?

Surgery August 10th with Dr. Aceves
Congrats on your sleeve date and I hope many others from here will be buddies getting sleeved at the same time. That will probably be too soon for me to get the financing together. Will look forward to hearing about your journey.

Change of Plans
Judy, Maybe you and I can be sleeve buddies-I haven't set my date yet but am looking for it to be in Oct. Have to find the rest of the money first. Please continue to keep us posted on your journey and I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

MexicoWeightLossSurgery.com The Facts
rere50 & dollarsterno- I have no issue with you supporting your surgeon and having success with the surgery you chose. I welcome you to continue to post on threads that interest you. I know nothing about the two surgeons mentioned here. I find it strangel that zsflower states that she is once again trying to set something straight and yet this is her first post. Why did she change her identity? I don't think that you are "used cars"-you researched your surgeon and made your decision. I am merely saying that I mistrust people who benefit from my making a decision that lines their pockets. I don't trust zsflower. I had another surgeons' patient cooordinator email me stating she was emailing because I had not answered my phone when she tried multiple times to reach me. I am a crisis worker who is tethered to my phone. I always know and respond to it ringing. She never called. She lied. I looked for another doctor. You have your standards and I have mine. If you don't like how this board is run, start your own. I am satisfied with this one. Have a great day!

MexicoWeightLossSurgery.com The Facts
I neither need nor want your Pity or your help. You are not posting anything on this board related to your experience as a sleever(if indeed you are one); you are not posting in any way to help me figure out if the surgery is for me or not. I don't care to hear anymore from you. I see your above statement as a pot shot at two administrators on this board who post daily their opinions, support and experience for those others of us who come here for information, understanding, and help. Do I find it strange that they post so frequently--no, I am thankful that they care enough about a topic which so evasively consumes my life. I can relate to them. I understand their purpose and appreciate them. I believe that they are compensated emotionally and authentically by their involvment on this board--not at all financially--they talk freely on the board about their real time jobs, personal struggles with weight loss, head hunger, etc. They belong here and you ???Come again, what exactly is your job and purpose on this board?-whoops- I think you said that in your signature.:scared0: Now, have I made myself perfectly clear? GO away, you are annoying and useless here.

Vitamin D
[QUOTE=WASaBubbleButt;5005]Ahhhh, but I didn't tell you all the other stuff I ate! I was sooooo angry! The whole entire weekend was like that, one piece of stupidity or frustration after another. I couldn't decide if I wanted to run or eat so I did both. ;o) WASa, OMG woman, we must be twins! I can not believe the similarities of your weekend with my life and the stupid mistakes that people at my work make which cause me to run around putting out fires all day! Last night after re-reading your post about getting back on track and being straight about the hard road it is to be fat and how we have to change our habits and yes, exercise--I dreamed about running on a treadmill trying to reach a bagel. Woke up at 4am to the dang alarm and went to the gym to do cardio and was so pissed about it(exercise not the bagel dream)! :scared0: I was mad half my day-not at all the stupid mistakes that my workers had made but because I am sick of being Fat and damn mad that I haven't been able to just pay for the surgery and schedule it and that I will have to exercise daily cause diabetes insulin resistence is going to ruin my life if I don't. So I went to the gym, avoided white carbs today, hungry as hell because I crave them so bad, and now will have to do it again tomorrow. Tom, my trainer, had the audacity to call me today and tell me that he enjoyed your post as well and that he wanted to see me tomorrow and that he wanted me to be happy about it rather than pissed. I told him to watch out because he is treading on thin ice around a big mad fat chick dealing with carb withdrawal.:scared0: Anyway, thank you, sister!

Keeping track of Medical history
It is a bracelet or a necklace. The first responder can call the number and get the info over the phone or in email or online from putting in the code and security number from the backside of the id. A mechanical voice "reads" the info over the phone. The ones with printed info only give you 4 lines of info. That is not enough room to list my allergies alone. By getting the interactve one, I can update my medications, family contact numbers, etc anytime I want to. If I change my phone number of next of kin or change my doctor's numbers or whatever, I can make that change without have false information on the bracelet or needing to order a new one.

Hyaluronic Acid-would it help with recovery from surgery?
Why-I'm going to have the good doctor Aceves squirt some on while he's inside!!!!! LOL:001_tt2:

I hope someone reads this
WASa, A round of applause for saying what every one of us needs to hear from time to time. In fact, it is comical that my personal trainer from 4 years ago who got me down 127 lbs of which 70 is back, called me today on why he has not seen me at the gym for the past month. (Could be that I am playing head games with myself and purposely hitting the snooze 4 times till it turns itself off every morning.) LOL Anyway, I had just read your post and so told Tom, "I'll see you at 5am". His response was "Are you just blowing smoke up my ass or are you really coming?". I told him that you had written out the motivator speech for him to use next time and that I will give him a copy of it tomorrow. So, thank you, I have been blowing smoke at myself and your heart to ass kick landed square on my Fat Posterior! See you in the gym!

I hope someone reads this
I hear you. What worked in the beginning; are you still doing those things? Just breathe and take it each day at a time.

At the Hotel Lucerna...and confused.
Tomorrow will be brighter! Get some rest. Enjoy the fact that you are getting the tool that will help you. I think the answer is that you won't need the trainer and will be able to eat better with less work(mental).

Hyaluronic Acid-would it help with recovery from surgery?
I use a topical lotion that contains this for my knee, shoulder and back pain. I saw that they have a oral liquid too. Anyone else use this? Hyaluronic Acid (HA) occurs naturally throughout the body but diminishes with age. New research shows that HA may be the specific component the body uses to block the process that produces inflammation and pain. HA appears to reduce the body's overreaction to injury or trauma. Pain and inflammation occur when white blood cells in the body move to the site of the injury, a process called The Adhesion Cascade. Research shows that HA binds to some of the white blood cells preventing their overreaction to the injury. Thus, HA appears to reduce the body?s overreaction to injury or trauma by blocking the Adhesion Cascade. Enough white blood cells reach the site for effective healing, but not enough to cause swelling, inflammation and pain. In the body, HA breaks down into glucosamine, providing additional support for joints.

Surgery this Friday (PV, Mex) Tell me what to take!
I've had lots of surgeries--most common is feeling a little nauseous, dry mouth and maybe cold. Just tell someone and they will help you with it.

I hope someone reads this
I read it-what is your problem? I have not been sleeved yet but will help if I can. I was a little surprized that this section had never been used too.

My own room!!!!
Just a question, but what exactly do these men "do" when they are on "lend"?
-
not losing anymore!
As a therapist, I will attempt to tackle the question of food/weight related therapy. Lots of people need the accountability-to-self piece of writing down what they eat and how much they exercise, other people focus on the head hunger issues-why am I eating? what emotions am I stuffing?etc., EMDR focuses on dealing with traumas to disconnect the heighted emotions/inaccurate cognitions that are stuck together with relationships, dating, sex, self esteem, self beliefs, etc. There is a lot more, but this is a start.

I have a date!
Congrats, yes you sound a little excited! I will look forward to watching your progress.

Reflections from a Fat Chick
[quote I still struggle with chronic depression and am on medication for bipolar disorder. I am a very blessed person. There are so many things in my life to give thanks for. My husband loves ME the WAY I am, and the more I hate myself, the more he loves me! blessed with a job I LOVE (teaching K-8 music education),I am the mother of four goofy dogs. Things are going so great for me, yet, there has always been that one thing that has been like a dark cloud over my head- and that is my weight problem. Sometimes I feel so guilty for allowing myself to be sad over my self-image when I have so many good things in my life. I want to go hiking with my husband or travel places and not feel ashamed in my own skin. I want to break the obese curse of my family and not be "the fatty" anymore. Rose From one fat chick to another-welcome! I relate to your story and have days that I think I'm kidding myself that the sleeve will work for me. I am so glad to see that you are going for it at 24. I will be 50 before I get there but hope to find the financing within the next 6 months. My sleeve will be my birthday present to myself. I want my life back. I want to reverse my diabetes, sleep apnea, joint problems and maybe even go on a date for the first time in my life:001_wub: Congrats on having a wonderful hubby. Take the dogs for a romp and stick to your pre-op diet. You are gonna make it. Keep posting!

Vitamin D
[quote It should be noted that a strong craving for sweets can potentially be a symptom of Vit D deficiency. Many studies show that obese people are severely lacking in Vit D. As we lose weight it often times becomes worse. Many doctors still go by what used to be thought of as normal blood values of 20-50. This is no longer accurate information. We should shoot for lab values of 50-80. I did this and realized I was severely deficient in Vit D. I started supplementing and deep bone pain is gone as well as my craving for sweets. I am going to order the kit. Will let you all know if I test low. Anything I can find to help with the sweets cravings and with body aches-shoulders, back and knees-I am willing to try. WASa, got any ideas about carb cravings? I am a sucker for hot buttered fresh baked bread or chips and salsa at a mexican place.:thumbup1:

My future babies
I am with WASa:001_rolleyes:--I am fine with 4 legged furry babies but not interested in having the human kind--especially now that I'm almost 50!:thumbup1: But good luck to you. I'm sure that there are sleevers out there who have healthy pregancies.

?How many ibs a week do u lose?
Been there; done that! :thumbup1: I agree that therapy works and the best therapists are the ones who did the hard therapy work themselves. I like EMDR becasue it has helped me deal with past trauma and with food issues. I believe that once school starts for you again that things will get easier. Keeping your mind active will help by giving you less time to run around up there in your mind second guessing yourself. Keep posting

Is the sleeve a second WLS surgery for most?
I knew immediately that gastric bypass was not for me. I had settled on the band because I had met people who had gone to Mexico and done well. I guess that I am lucky to have been financially challenged and had insurance companies that did not approve bands. That's how I got to be in the group who will list sleeve as my 1 and only WLS. Now, I would like to be less financially challenged :blush:so that I could get on with my life sooner I hope to be able to set the date sooner rather than later. I am tired of living vicariously through this board.:001_tt2: Hope you guys don't mind putting up with me for a while longer!
