  1. Funny how my story is the same as yours! In August 2006 I had the first stage of the DS. I realized I didn't need or want the switch once I began losing and the more I read of complications from the DS. I have no regrets! I went from 316 lbs to 167 lbs; no longer diabetic; no sleep apnea; no spinal stenosis pain that kept me a prisoner in my home....I can walk, and stand without pain! Congratulations on all you have accomplished! I believe we are both very fortunate that we did not have the DS. Linda
