  1. Yep stoongal, the 3 week stall is a mess! But we will get through this!!!!!! We must hang in there
  2. Feeling pretty good. You know you are right, it is a great weight loss. I should be ashamed of myself for feeling so bad about this stall but like all people that have been overweight, we want so bad for this to finally be "IT" for us!
  3. I have been/still am going through occassional dizziness (prior to VSG) and sometimes now. I have found that sometimes when walking and standing I get dizzy or walking for long periods of time. I have come up with my own NURSING diagnosis- ORTHOSTATIC HYPOTENSION. I think my b/p gets too low due to the HTN meds, particularly when my new dietary changes and the reduction of salt. I told my MD about this, they ran tests- found nothing, so its probably just the transition from sitting to standing or walking. Just make sure you are getting in enough fluids and to slowly rise from sitting to standing positions (allow at least 3-5 mins) as it takes the body a few moments to recognize the change in position and for it to fully register. This helps me. Who knows, for awhile I thought I had some sort of inner ear disturbance or something but that was ruled out. Hope this helps.
  4. The sad part Vegas, is that I know that its water weight. My little mind is very emotional right now, I guess. LOL I dont know why Im so freaked out, every time that I have lost weight, I never loose weight during my TOM and I usually gain, so this is NOT unusual for me. I usually loose after my cycle. Thanks for the pep talk.
  5. TOM = Time of Month, not really "TOM" sorry if I confused you.
  6. Yeah, I think im getting weird and nutty (Thanks TOM). I see why people see this journey is like a rollercoaster ride. I was on such a high until a few days ago! LOL As Tiff stated earlier, "This Too Shall Pass":svengo:
  7. I have actually lost a lb but I dont consider that a true loss since im +2 lbs still. Boy, this really is frustrating, my TOM still has not arrived but I "feel it coming" if you know what I mean. I am sitting here thinking "why dont you come on already so I can start back loosing" LOL. Sadly, most of the positivity that I had when I first discovered that I was stalled is fading. :smilielol5: Now the negative thoughts such as: "what if this doesnt work for me, etc" is creeping into my vulnerable mind.....I have been tracking my calories EVERYDAY, getting in water and protein and nothing. Boo!!:fencing:
  8.:fencing:Yep...Its all the scales fault. Me and the scale will have to go to battle. LOL
  9. Thanks for the advice guys......Its so hard though. Good luck about it, I was somewhat prepared for it. I didnt cry and eat something that I shouldnt like I wouldve in the past. I decided that today and for the rest of the week that I am going to try "extra hard" to give my body a push. Thanks guys............
  10. Ok guys..... (Ive posted this on OH) but decided to post it here as well.... The inevitable happened. Got on the scale this morning, not only am I "stalled" I guess. I am up 3 LBS! LOL How the heck does that happen?? When you work out at least 4 days a week and consume less than 700 calories per day. I must add that I was sleeved on 9-15-09 and have lost 30 lbs, well, 27 since I gained 3 lbs back. I see posts about this ALL the time but gosh, until it happens to you.....you really dont know what it feels like! Also. TOM is usually between the 12th and 15th of the month, so that could be why im retaining.........This really sucks!!!! Just venting. Help, I knew it would happen, just didnt know how horrible I would feel when I did. Thanks for listening!:001_tongue:
  11. Dont know if any of you saw the Oprah special about "women wearing the wrong bra". Anyway, there was a store on there called "Intimacy" that specializes in bras. They reported that most women wear the wrong bra size. So, I went there thinking I wore a 40 D but turns out that is the wrong size. Anyway, I have bought some of the BEST bras from there. They sell all sizes. I would recommend you all checking out that store too!
  12. You will be fine!!! I remember people telling me that prior to my VSG. I even had an anxiety attack the night before, I was horrified! However, its much easier than you think. Think positive, pray and you will be here posting your progress in no time! Be Blessed!
  13. Yes, I am feeling great! 30 lbs down since 9-15-09. Still getting use to eating. LOL. Still not able to eat much but I am supplementing with my Protein drinks. My emotions are back to normal (that didnt take long) since im only like 3 weeks out now. I enjoy watching the scale go down. Im almost in ONDERLAND.....I am so excited about that! You will be fine, just think of how good you will fine when the scale starts moving downward! Keep me posted on your progress!
  14. Welcome, I just wanted to lend support to you. I felt down right after being sleeved as well. As your BF said, it takes time and everyone's body is different. WE all must hang in there and do the best that we can with our sleeve.
  15. Tia, I was in your shoes a few months ago, trying to decide to go the Mexico route or the local route. After speaking and booking my date with Dr Aceves (who im sure is GREAT), I just could not get the nerve to leave not knowing all of the what ifs, I guess I wanted to feel comfortable that if something had happened that my family could be there and vouch for me. Therefore, I chose to spend the extra money to stay home. The bottom line is: WHAT is most important to you??? That will give you your answer, unfortunately, we all have different experiences, thoughts and financial situations as it relates to having this surgery. I would vouch for Dr Alanis anyday but if you cant afford it, then you may have to go to another skilled surgeon in MX for less money. Its totally up to you. I guess what im trying to say is, you have to determine what factor is most important to you, in this equation. I spent a good deal of money but my health is worth it but if I couldnt have spent that money, I would have tried an alternative route. Good Luck:thumbup:
  16. Yep, it has been helpful, I guess the answer is just continue to supplement with Protein drinks, which is what I have been doing anyway. Thanks for your feedback.
  17. I recently did a post on my experience- Im about 2+ weeks out. Im down 24 lbs. Recovery for me was EASY,I felt like myself within 3-4 days, I had surgery on a Tuesday, I was back at the gym on the following Sunday. It is a challenge to get adequate intake in though, as we are adjusting to our new tummies. I am thrilled with the results, I am 79 lbs away from my goal. I work out at least 4-5 X per week. I am really trying to get these 79 lbs off as soon as possible! LOL I went back to work at 2 weeks, couldve gone back within days but I wanted to get adjusted to my new life without the distractions from work. So far, im loving being sleeved! Are you sleeved yet? If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
  18. Glad to know that im not the only one who feels that way. I just dont know how im going to get my calories up there. Hopefully, the more experienced sleevers will know what to tell us. LOL
  19. Hey guys! Its me again with yet another question! Hope you dont mind! I am now on mushie foods and im finding that I am completely stuffed after 4 tsps or so! How am I ever going to get adequate caloric intake? I mean due to the nature of my job (a nurse), I cant just eat all day long. Any suggestions, I am only eating Proteins, I dont even want to get into the carb thing. My surgeon told me to maximize the next six months, so that is what I am going to do. When I drink Protein drinks, I get some carbs from them but not many. I do not want my body to go into starvation mode. Help Please! LOL
  20. Welcome to the forum, I had my VSG on 9-15-09. I am in my 20's as well. I have been very satisifed with my VSG! I went with Dr Audencio Alanis in Houston, TX. I absoutely adore him as a person and a surgeon! He was so knowledgable and skilled. I am 2 weeks and 2 days out and Ive lost 24 lbs! I had my 2 week follow up appointment today and he was THRILLED with my results. Cost: 11, 500 K 2 nights in surgical center (ICU care 1 night, regular med surg unit 1 night) ***The price has gone up since then though, I think its 13,5K. I loved the hospital, the nurses and the surgeon, I dont regret it, I received TOP NOTCH care! Good luck on your decision, everyone here has given you great advice, its just up to you to decide which direction is best for you!
  21. Very nice, Congrats!!!!!!!!!
  22. Ok, good to know im not the only one experiencing this! Thanks!
  23. Im glad that you are recovering! Take Care, post when you feel up to it!
  24. Congrats on deciding to get the VSG. That sounds like a GREAT price! I hope you have a great experience, you and your wife both. I dont have any personal experience with that doctor but I did want to welcome you to the site. Keep us posted:wink0:
  25. Question all. It seems that my restriction varies from day to day. Some days, I can drink my Protein drink within an hour and other days it takes about 3-4 hours! That is amazing, I also find the restriction is greater in the morning, therefore, I really cant drink or eat hardly anything until lunch time. However, today was the tightest restriction, that Ive ever had. It wasnt a problem, I just noticied that I couldnt take in as much as I have on previous days--- I mean I drove all the way to the other side of town to get this Soup and all I could eat was about 4 tsps! I was so disappointed BUT so GLAD all at the same time. I will just sip on it for 2-3 days until im done. Is this normal for your post op VSGers? :001_cool:
