  1. I'm 2 weeks out I can drink normally - I can't chug, but I can drink normally.
  2. oxycodone comes in many varieties - not all are the extended release that have the high street value. I didn't have a problem swallowing pills - I did cut them to make them smaller and easier, but no problems. If the pain meds aren't working for you, please request something else- even oxycodone comes in a liquid form so if the doc insists on using that, he can prescribe liquids.
  3. All I can suggest to get rid of the "angryness" is to walk, walk, walk. Good luck!

went down easy, but couldn't eat much - VERY filling!

I made chili for dinner and its going down absolutely great. I can't eat much, but it is my first meal with meat - and my sleeve is taking it just fine. That's very good news to me Thus far, nothing has given me any trouble and I'm so thankful for that. Hubby was very happy to have a nice hot meal waiting for him today - he had a rough day at work. Went to costco and got more protein shakes - got vanilla this time because my syrups came in and now I can do whatever flavor I wanna! Gonna try eggs tomorrow for breakfast.
  6. Its funny (not humorous) how so many people think that Canada's healthcare system is so easy and carefree. You just walk into a hospital and get what ever you want!
  7. Your weightloss will be slower because your bmi is much lower. I think this surgery is a great preventative measure to becoming obese. Overweight is just the doorway - its easy to open that door and become obese.
  8. This WILL pass. Set aside another time to talk - instead of over dinner - maybe go for a walk and hold hands - that way you get some intimacy, albeit mild, but it helps! Also - are you on any pain meds or antibiotics still? Sometimes wild dreams can be a side effect of meds.
  9. ok, this is so weird. I know I'm done eating when I can feel my heartbeat in my NOSE! Its so weird.
  10. I cleaned everything and butterflied it - Its not as bad as it sounds Wouldn't have even known if i hadn't looked
  11. That's why I said that not one person was to blame - it wasn't you that was blaming the surgeon - other people were.
  12. This is why you should speak to the doctor. Instead of getting information from 3rd and 4th and even 5th parties, or perhaps people that aren't all that happy about a loss in income.
  13. So I tripped and smacked my tummy into the desk (not hard) but it actually opened one of my incisions back up. Its not bleeding or anything - just well, an open incision - so now I gotta go get some more butterflies to get it closed again (I have some on it now but I'll want to be able to keep them on) If this is my setback then hell yeah - I'll take it!
  14. So what woud you do if your patient advocate was suddenly fired or quit? Would you change surgeons?
  15. Please. remember your body is going through changes. You will NOT lose a certain number of pounds every day. You just won't. Your body is adjusting. You're 2 weeks out from surgery. There's nothing wrong, you're just hitting a point where your body needs to adjust. THROW OUT YOUR SCALE. A watched pot never boils.
  16. In a heartbeat. I'm 2 weeks out and already feeling so much better than I was prior to surgery.
  17. I think you need to talk to the surgeon himself. Give him a call.
  18. I think with the fact that you haven't dealt with the sweets issue is the biggest thing. Peanut butter is about 240 calories for a serving and ritz crackers another 170 per serving, which is about 6 crackers. That's 400 calories right there. Try snacking on some cauliflower or cottage cheese or something instead.
  19. I get them if I take too big of a drink, but never when I eat.
  20. The skin irritation from staples isn't something you'll have to worry about with stomach staples. Typically, staples on the outside of the body are stainless steel or nickel plated. The ones they use on the inside are titanium. They staple, sew and glue the stomach, typically.
  21. drink before you're thirsty. When you feel thirsty, you're already starting to dehydrate. Fluids are so very important. try to discipline yourself against sweets. If they're your downfall, don't buy them. Don't have them in the house to fall back on when you're bored. If you feel you can't, maybe talk to your surgeon about the optional second part operation of the duodenal switch. exercise. exercise. exercise. How much Protein are you eating? How quickly after are you drinking?
  22. I don't understand other people's obsession with other people's food intake. WHY does it matter? You paid for it, you can eat it if you want, or you can throw it out the window and give it to the sea gulls circling over the parking lot. Its YOUR food to do with what you please.
  23. fluid is very important to dilute the uric acid buildup that can cause gout. Whey protein powders won't have anything to do with gout, however, collegen protein powders can. Make sure she's buying a quality protein powder. Secondly, beans are typically high in purines, which create uric acid - if she's eating a lot of beans for protein or organ meat (another culprit), have her cut those out and go back to lean meats for protein along with a quality whey protein.
  24. I did use a protein drink - one a day and that's it. First week I didn't, but the first week out is really not something to worry too much about. I have liquid vitamins, just haven't started taking them yet. I bought them at costco.
