    Why Lie?!?!

Because to some, it's very personal and frankly none of anyone else's business. Some people feel defeated by admitting they had to take a surgical route. They've provably also had instances where they confided something personal in someone - only to have it blabbed all over the place. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    I hate this surgery.

Don't judge a life long decision by one week. Bowl parties that center around good isn't a good place for a 7 day post op person to be. Know where you are in your process and surround yourself accordingly. WHY would stuffing yourself with crap food be better? You'll feel gluttonous and crappy for having done it. Miss soda?

I've had a few sodas in the last month or so- I was a diet coke addict. Now I have regular soda (made with sugar when I can findit) but it doesn't have even close to the same appeal that it used to. I've yet to finish a soda. Doesn't really seem that great to me. But makes the jack Daniels a bit better! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  9. I guess the best way to describe the reasoning for some people is as a preventative measure. That horrible struggle that you, I, and many others face with the morbid obesity isn't something I would wish on my worst enemy- so for someone who can stop that from happening - which, for many, it's inevitable, more power to them. Why wait for something to be so bad that its hardest and more dangerous!? If you have a toothache, you don't wait for the tooth to abscess before dealing with it. Or at least you shouldn't! 10. Totally normal- all I can say is walk walk walk! That discomfort will get better and better each day. Keep moving. Don't force anything, Take your time and sips. That gas from surgery can take a good week to go away. Totally normal to not be hungry though. You aren't going to get everything down for a couple weeks or so. There's a lot of swelling that needs to go down - you have pressure on the inside of your sleeve and the outside too. Let it heal and just look forward- it DOES get better. Nearly. Year out here - Down almost 150 lbs and the only regret I have is not having the surgery sooner Sent from my iPhone using VST
  11. Nothing. I researched every big and little aspect of this surgery. No surprises at all Sent from my iPhone using VST
  12. I lost probably 2/3 of my hair. I was fortunate to her extremely thick hair. I felt like I was bald though. I was in near years with my stylist. She reassured me and even took pictures to show me that it wasn't noticeable by anyone but me. My loss lasted about 3-4 months and now, even though in still losing hair (always have) I'm getting it back faster than its falling out. Rest assured - it's normal to have the hair loss. Anesthesia alone can have this effect. It will get better. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  13. No one who hasn't been through this will ever understand. There's a certain obliviousness that you will probably have to address. Give them a calm, logical and reasonable explanation if it bothers you to have them eat in front of you. Pre op it Kinda bothered me - just because I was hungry. Post op, it didn't bother me at all. If it is bothering you post op, ask yourself why. It's very important to get yourself in the mindset that food is for survival- not entertainment and comfort. That being said. I enjoy food more now than ever before. It's easy to enjoy now because I can't overdo it and there's no guilt. You can get there too! Hubbies tend to need some direct and complete instruction though Sent from my iPhone using VST
  14. nah I think I get it. Is it maybe that you don't regret the surgery, but you regret the path it took after - which can be exclusive of each other. I'm very glad you lived and are healthy now
  15. so...now the question....is the regret still there?

    From the album: Circa's pics

8.5 months out from surgery - down about 140 lbs. Feeling GREAT!
  17. You're right on track for success! Everyone has these nerves! Even for outpatient surgery The best thing about this part of the procedure is that you don't have to do anything! The professional is the one doing all the work! You'll be fine and he'll be a successful surgeon, as shown by his track record!

    Lost

Is there NO other doctor that accepts your insurance? Can't you switch to a different surgeon?

I Have A Conundrum Need To Vent....

Is there any reason that would lead you to believe he's taking this opportunity to replace you? Or are you just nervous about the surgery and reading too much into it? It can be a scary situation dealing with training someone to do your job while you leave. Chances are they just don't want you to come back after surgery to a giant mess. I would definitely talk to the boss and ask if you should just show her the priority issues in your job and not focus on the small stuff that isn't necessarily time sensitive that you can deal with when you come back - afterall, you don't want to overload the temp!
  20. Well, I think the fact that you're "backed up" has a lot to do with the limited amount you can eat and drink as well as the stall. Everyone stalls - don't stress about that - stay away from the scale. I recommend moving back a stage from solids to mushies and definitely find yourself a laxative or stool softener - find out what your doc suggests!

    Before And In Progress Pics

Thanks. Its been a pretty easy road - the hardest part was getting to the actual surgery. I'm fortunate that I was never really a binge eater and never really had a sweet tooth. I'm also very fortunate that the cravings I DO get are for things like steak...venison...ya know - protein powerful foods.
  22. I finally added before and in progress pics. Took a lot for me to do that. Feel good about it now though I don't think I even look like the same person - not even in the least. I know I don't feel like that person anymore

    Sleeve Vs Bypass

that is a big pro for the sleeve - if you're having hunger hormone issues, the sleeve ends that - many people still have that with the bypass.
  24. circa

    Quick!

in talking to different surgeons, the no caffeine thing started with the bypass - caffeine is a stimulant. It can have different effects on people - some it makes hungry, which means you're eating when you shouldn't, others it can stave off hunger, which means you're not eating when you should be. The other main issue is the slippery slope between coffee/tee and carbonated caffeinated beverages. Early in your surgery, caffeine can be a diuretic and you're trying to INTAKE enough liquids, not get rid of them. Is there a medical reason where your stomach will eat your liver if you have a cup of coffee? no. Its just good health practices according to several surgeons that told me this - many of whom were drinking....a cup of coffee at the time Follow your surgeon's orders - they're there for a reason. Ask when you can have a cup of coffee or tea or whatever your caffeine of choice is - I'm sure they'll give you an answer.
