  1. I don't think anyone on this thread IS right in the head, are they? J, well, I am glad that I know what restriction feels like. What I am wondering though, why do some people have it without any fills and some don't. I have the bigger band. Don't get me wrong, I am glad I have it, but just wondering what the reson might be. Are we still swollen from surgery? I would think not, but who knows??? Congrats, on getting the riding in. I know how much you love it and so glad you are getting some really good time in this weekend. BG, where are you??????? Annie??? Hp????? probably out riding their bikes....
  2. July 20, 2007 Friday a.m. strength training on Bowflex p.m. 11 miles on bike!!!
  3. I truly hope that it is going to be the best thing around. THAT would be awesome!!
  4. JC, you are so awesome. You are such a better person for what you have gone through. You can really tell by what you say that you are alright, and you will succeed!!! Annie, so it that what stuck feels like???? COOL BEANS!!!! I mean, not that I like it, but if I still have restriction then no way am I getting a fill. Now, turn around Annie, your getting an ass kicking. NO MORE JUNK FOOD!!!!!! I mean it!!! NO MORE!! What good is that going to do your body??? Now, lesson learned, and no more. I WILL stick you in the corner next time. You will not be happy about that. No, seriously, under 2000 on a binge is pretty damn good girl.....think about before banding. 2000 was just a drop in the bucket!!
  5. The other night I had a pulled muscle and all I wanted to do was go to bed. After showering, I just got into bed and forgot to put the mask on. I fell asleep and did wake up a lot during the night, but I didn't wake feeling like I was dead, or clawing my way out of the bed trying to get air. I did put it on about 4 a.m. and then did not wake back up. I still think I have a little ways to go before completely going off of it.
  6. ok, I had posted a long response last nite and LOST it. Sometimes I hate this laptop!!! I keep pushing some key that erases everything I write, and sometimes this happens several times with one post!!! Pisses me off!!! JC, I really didn't want you to think that I was feeling sorry for you. I hate when people act like they feel sorry for me. I just know some of the pain you were talking about, and it sure does a job on your self esteem. This time though, JC, you are NOT going to gain it back and you are going to be healthy for the rest of your life!!! Isn't that the best feeling. BEING HEALTHY FOREVER!!! I love that thought. I am now down to the lowest weight I was in 2001 when I was doing WW. I started at 270 and got down to 244 but it took me SIX MONTHS TO DO IT!!!!!! So, I am officially so happy with myself!!!I really don't remember when the last time I was under 220. I know when I got married in 1993 I was a size 20 dress, but I don't know how much I weighed. SO, I am very happy and trying to focus on those good things instead of worrying about getting filled. J, do you ever feel like you get stuck even though you have no fill???? I was very good about eating slow and chewing 30 times for a long time, but then I figured, why? since I don't have a fill, so I got out of that habit and sometimes, like last night, if I eat too fast or dont chew I get this huge pain smack in the middle of my chest!!! I have to stop eating and move around and put my arms above my head and then sometimes I will burp and the pain is gone, but I am no longer hungry. Just wondering if you had experienced this with no fill. Thanks!!! EVeryone, lets get our asses on our bikes this weekend!!!!!
  7. I am not doubting the sweat and heart rate. I just don't know what kind of workout it really is with your heart rate only being up for 4 minutes. That is what I am skeptical about, not the fact that it is a good workout and makes you sore. I would too be interested in knowing what would happen if you stopped doing all the other exercising that you do and see what would happen. Also, the other exercising getting easier might not be from the ROM but that you are getting stronger and more stamina in that particular exercise. I sure hope it is the ROM, cuz 4 minutes would be a great way to go!!!! I think I will print out the info and take it to my exercise physiologist and see what he says. Maybe he can verify somethings. Good luck and keep on sweating!!!
  8. I totally agree Jacqui!!!
  9. Jacqui, YOU win the nightly prize. This is kinda like the lotto. We don't take it lightly when someone invests a lot of their time reading about cycling, among other things. So, here you go!! You deserve it. You know I love your philosophy on the band and what it means to be banded. JC, my heart is breaking for you this very minute. I am not feeling sorry for you, but rather sorry that you have lost your self esteem from the things that have happened to you. I know, we all know, all to well, the look that people give us at a store, either the "oh my god, I hope the fat person doesn't come talk to me "or the "how embarassing to know them". It is all so sad and disheartening. You sound and act so strong and you are sooooo lively and full of life that I have no doubt that when all is said and done, those same folks will be knocking at your door and the door is not going to be answered. Its their loss, and I for one, think that you are one hell of a guy!! By the way, does your boss get cranky once a month too??? If so, that could be reason behind his name!!!! J, I know you are so right, and I am not going to get a fill. I am just not going to do it. I exercise like a freak as it is, what the hell am I going to run on if I can't eat???? I am just going to have to realize that my body is not trying to catch up with my weight loss now and I may never see those 4-5 pound a week moments again!!! :cry But, I will continue to plug along....
  10. I say get someone who KNOWS what it is like to have WLS!!! I think it is so hard to get the obese issues, unless you have been there yourself. Kinda like I don't get skinny people. How they can say no to cake and cookies and desserts, and just food in general. I say go to the banded one!!!!!.... I think I am doing pretty good outside of TOM with the eating it is just this week before that is killing me!!! I want to eat ALL the time and pretty much have been, except when someone else is home, then I don't feel like it so much. Eating broccoli right now...with ranch...I just feel like I need to have something in my mouth....you can imagine what DH said when I told him about that....
  11. My exercise physiologist says it is fine...AFTER you heal!!! At least 4-6 weeks. Someone else probably has had different advice. I say call your doctor and ask them what they want you to do.
  12. I know....wont that be great!!! Did you try it? Did it work???
  13. It seems that if you hold down on the two buttons in the middle and then plug the machine in, a few seconds go by and the machine unlocks. There is a little icon on screen that shows a lock that is unlocked. I think the first numbers you see are the ramp numbers. push the left gray button and go to the cpap pressure you want.. Mine was at 10 and I could not make it go any higher, but could lower it down by two points a button push. I have a humidiefier on my machine, the humidifier button and the ramp button are the two that make the pressure go up or down. When down, press the on/off button. Hope that helps.
  14. Serena, No need to pay for it. I had a respironcs viruoso LX and that is the instructions that I have it for. I do have a Remstar now though and I saw the guy change my pressure. You unplug your machine. Hold down the two middle gray buttons and then plug it back in while holding these down. That should take you into your menu to change your pressure. I have not tried to change mine on this machine as of yet, so I don't know what happens after you get in the menu, but I will go do it right now and see what happens and get back to you.
  15. Damn it, I keep meaning to comment about the comment BG made about the nutritionist shitting her pants when I told her I ate peanuts.....I think she may be taking ALLI...hence the shitting her pants!!:whoo:
  16. BG, you ARE a cutie....I wish I was 27 again....I will be 37 on July 31st...:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry I have a ninteen year old and a 12(almost 13, a week after my bday) and I feel OLD!! Maybe I should start racing!!!
  17. Yeah, I KNOW what you are all saying. I want to be able to eat good food so I can do all the exercise I do too. I just don't want to slow down on the losing part!!!! I am going to up my riding to 15 miles each time instead of the 10 I have been doing. I don't know!!! I am just a basket case who needs to be hung out!!!I guess I will see what happens when I get to fill appt. on Monday. I will def. take the exercise physiologist advice way before the nutritionists. I am hungry....all the time...TOM though, so I think it is just that. Today I am staying away from all snacking except tonight...sugar free fudge bars!!!! I know you all feel the same way as I do about your weight, you want it off faster than tomorrow!!!!DH is very very frustrated with me because I keep telling him I am not getting anywhere and he keeps telling me I am doing fine. I will post my picture tonight after I take my three month post op picture..... I hope you all don't think I am too fat!!!...LMAO....that was a joke, kinda like posting on a dating website... JC, I definitely want to hear more also. I know you are at work, and cannot talk right now. Do you all think we over compensate for our low self esteem by trying to overachieve in the exercise field????? Just a thought!!
  18. You don't have to go to your PCP to get approved for the lapband. I only saw the surgeon. But, I was self pay too, so that might matter, I don't know. It is your body, and your life. If you find your doctor is not with the idea, then go else where!!
  19. ok, I just noticed that none of us regulars have anything about fills in our signature. Are any of you filled????? How much, and when did you get your first one? I have none so far, am going this Monday for appt. and am considering asking for one. I don't want to only be a 10 pounds a month sorta gal!!! They would not give me one the last two times I was there because of all the weight I had lost..
  20. Thanks BG!!!!!! When is your weigh day???
  21. Way cool Annie!!!! My DH and DS used to race stock cars. On the pavement and the dirt!!! Yes, you do have to be fit to do that. You put out all of work sitting in a car racing!!!!!
  22. I also found that I was sleeping terrible. I found my mouth was sooooo dry in the morning. So, I put my mask on, in the day time, and laid down. Soon, I found the cause of dry mouth. THE PRESSURE WAS WAY TOO HIGH!!!! It kept opening my mouth. Before the weight loss, 14 was a good pressure for me, but down some and it was not. I tried to get it changed, but the doctor wanted to see me and then I had to go for another sleep study. SO, I looked on Ebay and someone was selling the instructions of how to change your CPAP settings. Of course, this is a very well guarded secret to keep you going back and spending more money with doctors and sleep institutes. SOOO, I order that and reset my pressure at 10 and it was like night and day!!! I was so amazed! I couldn't believe the difference. That was at about 30 pounds down, now at 60 I think I need to do another adjustment to it. I don't know why they can't let you know how to adjust these things. It IS our bodies and I think we know when something needs changed and shouldn't have to pay up the yingyang to do so. Hope that all made sense.
  23. what is the race season about? Cycling???? Do tell!!
  24. LOL, J, we posted at the same time...and said pretty much the same things!!!!!! I think Annie does have short brown hair too!!! You guys are just an awesome, awesome bunch of people!!!! SO, glad that we have all met!!!
  25. its ok BG...thats why that is your name BABYgirl... AND YES, that is what we are here for...the good, the bad, and the ugly....or should I say fat... JC, do you have some self esteem issues also? I wanted to get a mans point of view on this. I think most people assume men have great self esteems and its only woman who suffer. Also, if you don't mind the question, do you have lots of loose skin? How do you deal with that while running, if you do? Ok, I sorry for all the questions!!! Hugs to all!!!!!! We are in this thing for the LONG HAUL!!!!
