  1. There are exceptions to the rule, but most smokers DO NOT, WILL NOT AND CAN NOT exercise. Like I said, not all smokers are non exercisers, but for the most part, they don't. That is why it is to your benefit to NOT smoke!!
  2. Hey come look through the exercise threads!!! They are great and inspirational. I know that I want to not only lose my weight within a year but also to look good afterward. I am not about to lose that much weight and not work on my muscles. I workout hard and I love it. I am now thinking of getting into some running. I bike about 100 miles a week and love it, absolutely love it!!!!! There is no better high than riding around seeing everything breathing in fresh air and feeling your muscles working at maximum potential. In fact, today I am off on another 32 mile ride!!!! Yea me!!
  3. My husband keeps telling me he can't keep his hands off of me!! I love hearing this!!! I tell him, "you have always been like that though" He tells me it is different now though. I am almost the weight I was when we got married, so maybe he is seeing that!! I don't know, but I LOVE ALL THE ATTENTION!!!!
  4. If I had not had the lap band, I would be laying in bed, trying to drum up enough energy to just get up and get dressed. I hated that the most. It seemed like such a choir to even shower!!!! I love my band!!
  5. JC, I am sure that you know that any of us are here for you anytime!! I am sure that what he said will come back to you or you could call and have the nurse tell you again. I am sure you are numb and right now you are in shock! Rest, rest and rest some more...please..
  6. I was getting charley horses A LOT before surgery. Almost nightly!!! But since banding, I have not had one!!! That, I am glad of!! Good luck in finding the culprit and solving the problem!!
  7. I think the mashed pototoes and refried beans were my favorite thing to eat in mushy stage. I also like spaghetti sauce, ricotta cheese and parmasean cheese, baked until hot.
  8. Yeah, I can imagine how you feel. What would you think in this situation. So, when you say you are going in for pre surgery stuff, what does that mean? I wonder if you should get ahold of your original surgeon. What did the doctor do today? Any tests?
  9. oh god, JC, I am soooo sorry!!!!! I am so hope that he can fix it!!! What was your sisters feelings about it???? GOd, keep your chin up man!!!
  10. Friday August 10 a.m. strength training on bowflex p.m. 9.21 miles on bike
  11. First off, WHERE IN THE HECK IS JC???????? This is like waiting for a kid to come home when it is past midnight!! J!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a hawwwttttttttttiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! That is soooo cool that you got to meet up with someone from LBT!!! Awesome. It looks like you are having a really good time. And nice new pic for your avatar.
  12. I agree! Don't start again now!!!! Why would you want to? You are an ex smoker!! My doctors would not do the surgery if you were a smoker. You had to quit before he would do the surgery. I have been an ex smoker for several years now, so it was not a big deal for me, but for heavens sake, think of how much healthier you will be without all that crap filling your lungs!!
  13. I am almost four months post op and have lost about 50% of my hair. It is so frustrating!!! The drain in the tub must be cleaned out daily. There is hair everywhere in the bathroom. When I wash my hair my hands are covered with hair, hair wrapped around all my fingers...it is gross and I hate it. On the other hand, the hair that i have left is soft and smooth and manageable. I had very thick hair and lots of it. Now I am down to 50% of what I had....I eat everything and do not exclude any food groups so I know it is not a nutrition thing. I also took very expensive vitamins the first three months and have now gone to Flinstones Complete. I might try to go back to the other vitamins to see if it helps.
  14. Here in Idaho, where I go to get fills, it it RN's that get the privilege of handling my stomach!!
  15. I had heard that before too but it is still funny!!!
  16. Thanks, I also try to eat more beans and lentils. Try the Lentil Taco Bake that I posted also. It is pretty good.
  17. WOOOO HHOOOOO chim.....you go girl!!!! I promise in a few weeks, you will be begging to get in your exercise!!!
  18. Good job Ragdoll, that is awesome!!!! The scale moving is such a NICE way to wake up in the morning. HP, maybe you should go have it checked out again??? I know I had a parathyroidectomy a few years back and it affected how I felt. I was sleeping a good 18 hours out of the day. And I mean SLEEPING!! The parathyroid affects your calcium levels in your body. They are right by the thyroid but have nothing to do with it. The one they took out of my neck was the size of a walnut. The pathologist said it was the biggest he had ever seen. I am a bitch by nature, so watching my moods is like watching Godzilla turn into Dracula!!
  19. WTG BG!!!!!!!!!!! You are MORE than half way there. Nice weight loss!!!!! JC, good thoughts and vibes going your way!! HP, life can be sooo stressful sometimes and those are the times when we need to do for ourselves the most!!! Exercise takes that stress and pushes it out of our pours!!! Maybe you could get some videos to workout to in the home when you have the days you can't ride. At least something to get you moving!!! What about a trainer for your bike? You could hook your bike up to it and workout in your house. That is what I am going to do this winter when I can't ride outside. We get snow here, so no riding for several months. Just a thought! Good job on the gym!! That will be great as you can go as a family and workout together!!! Good luck! J, hope you made it home safe and sound! Am looking forward to a report of vacation! I am off to do my strength training, so will be back later. JC, just wanted to get one more positive thought in for you!!! Good luck, guy!!!
  20. Oh god, JC, if you have to go into surgery PLEASE PLEASE have someone let us know!!! Just know that we are all pulling for you and are hoping for the best for you!!!!! What time are you going in for your appt? You will do fine, just know that we are all here for you, no matter what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will probably be out running your heart out on Saturday morning, trying to make up for the lost days!!!! You are such an inspiration to all of you!!! You really rock!!! Thanks for all the congrats on the half way mark. That is half way to 170. That is what I told the doctor I wanted to be at, but I have been thinking that I really might want to be 150. I will see when I get to 170. I told my DH that if he thinks that I look good enough at 170 then to tell me to stop and I would. I am seriously doubting whether I will believe him enough to stop, but I am really getting fit, so by then, I might look as good at 170 as I did when I was 150. I was young young when I weighed that last, like after I had my son. I was 17 when I had him, so probably at 18....more than half my life ago. WOW, I can't even believe that I weight 237.5 right now!!!!! The lowest I ever got when I was doing WW in 2002 was 244. It took me 6 months to lose 29 pounds then!!! Ok, I am rambling on with my thoughts here, so I am going to go to bed. I had a mini bag of popcorn tonight. I sure am getting brave with my food choices. I think I need another fill before school starts and the late nights studying come!!! When school starts I won't be on as much, that will be a bummer, but it takes all I got to pull my 3.9!!! Ok, folks, talk to you tomorrow!!
  21. Thanks jm Thursday August 9 p.m. 10.45 recovery ride

oh my be careful!!! We don't want to hear about a lost hiker!!!!
  23. BG, good job on the weights. I really think they are important. Your muscles are what makes you get through the day. I think way too many people concentrate on cardio and forget the strength training!!! WAY TOO GO!!! You are doing so awesome!!! You have a ton of work related stress which I think I would be gaining from, but NO NOT you!! YOu rock girlie!!! Hey J, can't wait to see some pictures of your vacay!!! JC, ok, so what time tomorrow can we expect an update from the doctor? I am on pins and needles here waiting!!!! LOL, I sound like such a dork... HP....where are you?????????????????????????????????????????
  24. I hate tv. I watch VERY little of it. I hate all of the ads using sex to sell products. I hate all of the ads using food to get us to buy stuff. I don't have cable. If I do watch something, it is a movie. So, that is the thing that I think would suprise most people about me, is that I don't watch t.v. I don't really consider this a bad thing either!!
  25. I also am on the cheese wagon. I eat it a lot!!
