  1. eva: When you fall of the horse you get back on and keep riding. We've all fallen at one time or another. We are fighting a lifetime of bad eating habits and you can't expect to get it right all the time. You just have to keep getting back on the horse. I am doing great, but it's still a battle. Even when I'm not hungry I find myself standing in front of the refrigerator just looking inside for something to put in my mouth. I have to remind myself that I'm not hungry and look for something else to do. Wishing you the best. Bill

    Eating before a fill?

Best to check with your doctor, but mine said no eating 6 hours prior as they did a swallow e-val during the fill. Good luck and don't worry there is nothing to the fill. Bill
  3. I had my surgery in March and haven't lost a pound in over a month, but I have lost 2 pant sizes. Remember the Protein turns some fat into muscle. Muscle weights more than fat. Anyway I'm not to worried since I know I am losing mass. Had one fill after surgery and they hit the green zone first time. Just keep up the good work and start taking measurements (I think you will notice a change). Best of luck. Bill

    first fill next week!

I, like you, had worked myself up to it being a real bad thing. There's nothing to it. Several little numbing shots (like a bee sting, but not as bad). You never feel the big needle going in. It takes just a couple min and then they pull it out and put a band aid on it and your on your way. Going in for a fill tomorrow myself. Best of luck on your future weight loss.

getting my first fill on Monday

There is nothing to worry about. I had my first fill April the 5th while doing a swallow eval to make sure the band was working. They Give you several little shots around the port prior to doing the fill. I didn't even feel them. They then put the needle into the port (no pain at all) and then put the amount of Fluid into the band. They then pull out the needle and put a band aid of the site. ALL DONE> I was put on Protein shake that day and went back to eating regular diet the next day. I have a 10cc band and they put in 6cc. I couldn't tell any difference. Maybe a little restriction, but then last week I forgot and took 2 large bites of salmon and they got caught. YOU WILL ONLY MAKE THAT MISTAKE ONCE. The pain was awful and reminded me of a gull bladder attack. I coughed the salmon up and laid down for several hours until the pain was gone then got up and had a sip of Water and it went down just fine so took my evening pills and went to bed. REMEMBER CHEW CHEW CHEW and small bites. I wish you well on your fill and don't worry about the weight thing.......it will come off. I was at one weight for a month then finally lost another 5 lbs. Dry food that sticks versus sliders

I am pretty new to this, but my Dr. said keep dry foods moist. If I boil a chicken breast I put 1 teaspoon of BBQ sauce on it to moisten it. If I have a hamburger patty (once a week) I make a mushroom gravy and put a can of sliced mushrooms in it. I then only use one tablespoon of gravy with mushrooms to moisten the patty. This can also be used for chicken etc. etc. I use a little mayo with tuna. The important thing is to get the Protein. I have found some good ideas on UTUBE under lap band diet/cooking. You might give it a try. Good luck. Bill
  7. Hi all: Congratulations on all who have had their band placed and all those about to. I had my surgery on the 5th of March. Had to stay in the hospital 4 days as had a slow comeback from the operation. Other than that it went well. I get my first fill next week. I have lost 18 lbs since surgery and have had no problems what so ever. I have not experienced hunger. Keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but so far so good. Have some trouble getting enough protein each day. I feel great and had to buy new pants. Have lost a total of 60lbs and went from a size 59 to a 54 inch waist (a little loose on me). I'm on my way through my new journey. Come on board everyone.....we can do this. Bill
  8. Hi Everyone: Had my lap band surgery on the 5th. Had to stay in the hospital for three days because my vitals were not stable. The operation took an hour longer than expected. The surgeon saidshe had a rough time getting it in. There has been no pain other than soreness. Didn't take any pain meds. Had my post op yesterday and everything looked good. I had lost 10 lbs since surgery. Have not felt hungry yet (waiting for the other shoe to drop lol). Get my first fill on the 8th of next month. Not nearly as bad as I expected. Good luck to all of you that are waiting. Bill
  9. Well everybody. I'M BANDED ! Had my surgery Wednesday. Was suppose to go home Thursday, but wasn't released until Saturday. My surgery was longer than expected and my vital signs took awhile longer to get stabilized but other than that it wasn't that bad. I have not taken one pain pill and the only discomfort has been the gas and that's improving by the day. I have to stay on stage 2 diet for a couple weeks. Was so glad to get in my own bed. Slept 12 hours last night and just took a nap this afternoon for 1 hr. Feel great. Have been walking a lot and no problems there. I think part of the problem was my age. I will be 69 in July and the body just took a little longer to bounce back. I wish everyone success with your surgeries and maintaining your diet. So far I have had no hunger or urges to eat. Am enjoying my protein shake. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE WE CAN DO THIS! A new journey has begun. Bill
  10. dlove: Congratulations we have the same surgery date. I just had my last meal and will start my pre op diet tomorrow. Have to go see the dr. in the morning and get final instructions as to where to go on my surgery date. I live more than an hour's drive to the hospital so found out I will have to stay in a Motel for 5 days. Well, we have to do what we have to do. Got all my diet stuff at Walmart and now set to go. Good luck. I'm not taking my computer so won't be able to post until after the 11th. Bill
  11. This is my very first time writing anything. I have my surgery date set for March 5th. Have not started pre op diet yet, but going to Walmart to get Protein drink mix and Vitamins Monday. I am excited, but a little nervous. Good luck and just keep thinking of the end results as a positive thing. Bill
