I've been banded over 14 years and still it happens on occasion. Sometimes it feels like there's actually a knot or kink when I bend over a certain way. It goes away. Then sometimes the pain (not severe) does radiate up into my left shoulder. You may be on to something about not going to the bathroom regularly. That's something that I have dealt with so I take Dulcolax to help with that. And I drink a ton of water! If in doubt or really worries you be sure and check with your band doc.

I am banded over 10 years and am alive and healthy and have had no problem with my band. The only "band" problem that I have encountered is the same one anyone would have if you choose not to stay on task of weight re-gain. I would hope everyone does their pre-surgery research to decide what kind or even IF WLS is the way to go. There are no magic bullets! Repeat NO MAGIC BULLETS. I lost weight well and steadily and reached my goal and then hit an emotional rollercoaster and tried as hard to put the weight back on as I did to take it off a few years into my journey. I totally believe that the band is an excellent tool to assist with good eating habits and exercise. No matter what a person decides it takes dedication andd focus. A lot of us are more familiar with being a caretaker than taking care of ourself. I have addressed the emotional component to my weight gain and am back on track. My long term caution to anyone considering the band or newly banded is to NOT DEPEND ON FILLS as being the total answer to losing weight. I believe the less fills the better. Using your band as a tool, listening to your body's "full" signals (and you will acquire some with the band) and staying focused on living a healthy lifestyle will take you where you want to be. Seriously, don't waste your time on any "haters".

I feel like I've come home. On February 10, I will have been banded 6 years. I have had no trouble with my band, but like others, I am not where I had hoped to be, due to emotional eating. I got back on the treadmill today, and that felt good. My band works, I haven't been. That's going to change, because I still believe it's the best thing I could have done for myself.

10 1/2 years post and very thankful for my band. Not to say I haven't had my issues with some weight gain and difficulties but I attribute that to me learning about the reasons for being overweight, emotional eating and learning to life a healthier lifestyle. I am very blessed to say I have had no issues with my band such as reflux, etc. My band keeps me in check but a lot of the weight loss success has to do with me keeping up my end of things with exercise, making good food choices and not reverting to emotional eating.

Because you know what? You're almost there! Way to go.....and way to inspire those of us beginning. Thanks for the lift this afternoon!

In Micki's case, I get the impression she was a bit overwhelmed and let that rule her fingers for a spell. It's happened to me. Micki, I'm glad that your issue was solved and you are feeling a little cooler headed. Heal soon and good luck with the rest of your journey.

5.5 years with the lapband and still love it. And I guess you see haters all over the internet, because if you don't have problems, why would you go looking to talk about nothing?

I got a band replacement earlier this year because of a leak, and I returned to this site. And already Im back at goal and maintaining, and I'm drifting away. So what you see on the internet is NOT representative of the bandster population. I think that's something to keep in mind.

I don't argue with those who bash the band anymore because everyone is entitled to their opinion based on their experiences, but they have no right to MY opinion. I am proof the band works, works well and provides good long term prognosis. I don't need to argue my reality with someone who refuses to accept it.

Got in a nice hike at the Chickamauga Battlefield on one of the trails today. Forgot my pedometer. Almost 70 here, too today but going to get that nice cold front move through. Brrrr... Hubby didn't walk as far as the dog and I did and on his way back a 4 point Buck about took him out! Trust me, those deer know they are on government land.
Daughter in Farmington MO said it was supposed to get down to like 13 degrees there, Catfish in the next day or two.
CG, I know you will get to show off those blue toes again this year. Front won't stay although we may be in for a hard winter this year. It's flip flop season most of the year as far as I'm concerned.

I am new to this forum and not really acquainted with the folks here. But from what I have seen, there are many successful people that you can gain valuable advice from. I went to your profile and read back and read through your posts. From a purely objective perspective I didn't read anything but honest responses. Support can take many forms. I would never be offended if someone suggested taking up a problem I was having with my doctor. From what I read you haven't been banded long and believe me, you will have your ups and downs. That's the way life is. You are now in possession of a valuable tool to assist you in your journey. Plus, you found this website which is another asset.

Where are these sites??? I'd like to go there and visit...
I have found that many people will attack you if you are successful...and they are not....after all, it cannot possibly be this easy, when they have been struggling....you cannot possibly be so happy, when they are so miserable...eating everything in site!! Falling off the wagon, needing to "get back on track" all the time....
    Jealousy?
This website - group can be very negative in it's own way...I'm glad I did not discover it until AFTER my surgery....it can also be very confusing trying to sift between what is FACT, RUMOR and OPINIONS...as opposed to actual living experience from other bandsters....
Sometimes I don't care what printed articles are posted, or You-Tube videos....I KNOW my band and what it does to me, what I can and cannot do, what has worked and what has not worked, ALL from my own experience, success and failures....you can tell me till you're blue in the face it is absolutely impossible to defy gravity, but if I'm doing it everyday, I don't care what others may say or believe.....
People will post saying you can't do that with the band...etc, etc, and yet I am doing it everyday...go figure!
But I won't argue with them, just posts MY STORY...that's all anyone can, and should do...
My belief is the band can be a positive, and a negative thing....it all depends upon the person who has had the surgery....the band is adjustable and everyone has a different comfort level......or maybe better yet, fear factor...it is not for the faint of heart, but for those seriously looking to make a life long change and commitment....
Other surgeries there is no adjustment option...it is what it it what it is.....
I read posts here everyday from people who have a healthy attitude, who "GET IT"........then I also read posts from people who, IMO, simply "DON'T GET IT".....they don't have a clue........I hope they find their way..
I'm not talking about Newbies, those banded less than 6 months...that is the learning phase we have all been, or are going through....
Granted, there can and will arise medical complications here and there we have no control over, but other than that..
    WE ARE IN CONTROL......
