    Giving up carbonation...

I just got banded July 18 and the psychologist told me at the screening to go off coca cola a month before the surgery as he thought it would be hard for me as I LOVE coke and it used to be a stress reliever. I keep reminding myself that if I drink it then my band may dissolve and then all my Money and effort will be wasted.

    #teacherproblems

Hi I feel your pain. I'm a teacher out here in Atlanta GA and fortunately things went well. I told the surgeon I had to have it done before August 1 as school starts here August 12 for the students although teachers go back Aug. 6. I had my surgery on July 18th. All I can say is doctors don't have a sense of urgency about anything and they don't quite get the responsibilities that teachers have and how we do like to schedule surgeries during the summer since we get such a long break. I would write a letter to them complaining so maybe they would assist you in other areas in the future as far as time of appointments and followup visits etc. as I see my doctor's last apt is at 2:00 p.m. so its like more time off school for that. I wish you the best and hope that you are able to get it done soon. Patient dear one. Patience Halimah

4 days Post Op and Having a Moment

I can definitely understand the lack of family support. As maybe my husband too is going through depression over losing his eating partner or just a chance to kick me when I'm down. I haven't figured it out yet so I understand everyones pain. I just hang in there and do what I can do. I got banded July 18 Halimah

    JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES

Hi everyone, I was banded on July 18 and had a rough post-op experience the first two days but its getting better. My wounds are healing over and look like big black callouses. I'm looking forward to losing some serious weight and having trouble sticking to the liquid diet. The problem is I was expecting these warning signals to occur when I ate solid foods which did not happen so I'm like now it's just me having to eat Protein Drinks when I really want to and can chew on something else! Help!

    Just banded July 18 2013

Thank you both for your support. I did have an emergency number to call and did have it done at the local hospital in Riverdale, Georgia. The pains reached their peak after midnight and I didn't want to bother the surgeon at that time unless I was near death so I just bore it crying. You are right about sitting the hubby down and talking to him and I've been doing that today. He said he didn't know what I needed as I was looking all depressed.
  9. Good morning everyone! I was just banded at Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale GA by Dr. Johnson on July 18, 2013. The surgery went well with no complications. When I got home is when the real pain set in. The medicine my doctor prescribed Roxicet seemed to do nothing it didn't even make me drowsy and I was up pacing the floor and crying in pain most of the night. I had my surgery at 11 a.m. and returned home at 5 p.m. I drank about 8 ounces of water and 4 ounces of apple juice and that was it for food that day. To quote someone I read on You Tube who adequately summed up how I felt, "I felt like I was stabbed 5 times with knitting needles" and then my stomach was put in a vice grip! It hurt sitting down, getting up, laying down, walking and everything else. I felt like I was having a panic attack as I didn't know what to do to make myself feel better. Now day 3 post-op I'm feeling better and the pain is more bearable. I had 2 C-sections so I couldn't imagine the pain being worse but it really was. Maybe because I was in the hospital 2 to 3 days with the C-section and they gave me the heavy duty drugs while in there and in this case I went home hours later with what felt like Tylenol 200 mg! I'm still trying to get used to this post-op diet and my husband keeps offering me foods I'm not supposed to have which is frustrating to say the least. He doesn't get liquid diet and says I look depressed so he wants to cheer me up with some food I like not Water!
