    July 31st surgery date

    July 24th for me!!
  3. I went through the cold feet, but I finely decided I'm going through it. My dear guy friend said if you do it fine if you don't that's fine too. I guess that was all I needed him to say to me. I guess it made me feel it would be alright either way. For the first time in my life I felt accepted as I am, thus I can go forward with the changes I so badly want. He did say he wanted to make sure someone was staying with me or I stayed with one of my daughters, So looks like I'll spend a couple days with a friend, just till I'm up and running again. Best wishes to all getting ready for this and continued success to all who are already on their journey.

70lbs down, 100 more to go...

Congratulations you look fantastic! I know what you mean about being excited that you are no longer morbid obese! I went from a BMI of 66 to now 37, it was so exciting when the doctors records no longer read morbid obesity! I'm getting banded in one week looking forward to the day that obese will no longer apply! Blessings to you on the remainder of your journey!

    Almost 1 year!

Congratulations! You look fantastic! BTW I got a gym buddy a couple months back and it sure makes the time at the gym fly by! Much fun!
  7. Everyone is trying to talk me out of this. I have lost 175 pounds on my own, but I have been stalled for the past year. I really want to lose another 80 pounds or so. It's getting close and I have major cold feet. Am I doing the right thing or should I continue on my own? Oh help me see past all of this!
  8. Thank you one and all your positive input has been very helpful. One of my main things is I only have a 10% chance of keeping my weight off that I have lost so far. Only 1 out of 10 who lose 100+ pounds keep it off. I know the band is not a fix but a tool. My surgeon feels that with the good eating habits I now have and my workout routine the band will be a successful tool for me. I talked this over with my best guy friend today and he said if I do it good, if I don't that is fine to. But a couple other friends told me they were proud of me taking such a big step. So I think I'm moving forward with this. Less than 9 days to go!!
  9. Happy Birthday and Congratulations! Glad your man was willing to walk this road too. My husband refused WLS that was suggested by his doctor, thus 2 years ago he lost his battle against all the different conditions caused by his weight issues. Through much change over the past 2+ years I took off 175, but still want to lose more thus I am going in on the 24th for this surgery. I am 58 and have 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren to live for, I refuse to let my weight shorten my life. I love hearing success stories for us in the 50+ crowd as we well know it can be a bit harder as we get older. Bravo for both of you!!
  10. Guess I can be glad I don't like tomato soup! Was forced to eat it as a kid, now it's on my no way list! Either way enjoy!

    Surgery clearance letter from primary

My daughter ran into the same thing with her doctor. They changed her insurance so she has a new doctor and she is supportive, however her insurance won't clear her. As for me, my doctor wanted me to complete my weight loss on my own, but my insurance did not require her clearance. Besides she said it was up to me I have chosen to have the band and go in on the 24th of this month.
  12. Fantastic! You look fantastic! Good job!
  13. My surgery date is July 24th, just 2 weeks away!

    Me At Max

  16. I have not had my surgery yet, however I have lost 180 pounds started at 421, now 240, I feel like a new woman! I am getting banded so I can complete my weight loss and to help me keep it off. I went to the zoo with my friend a few weeks back, the last time I was there I could only walk 15 feet and than I had to sit down. I spent 7 hours running all over the zoo, never sat down once! OMG it's like a new life. Getting banded because I just want it all! I went from a 7X to 14's and 16's but I just want to lose more. 3 years ago I had to have a home health worker I was in such bad shape, now I work out at the gym every single day. ,Life is good at 58!
  17. I personally had no problem my insurance is all for it. However my daughter has many weight related conditions and twice they have said no to WLS. Their reason is because her conditions are treatable with medication. She just is not sure how to go about it at this point. Just wondering if those who ran into these road blocks, how you went about getting it approved. Thank you and Happy Fourth of July one and all!!
  18. My daughter has issues with my weight loss. She has weight battles of her own, and she has treated me badly ever since I started to lose weight. My reason for starting to live a healthy lifestyle was a near brush with death, You need only have a doctor tell you once that it's over to make some drastic changes. I just feel the band will help me reach my goal and help me to stay where I belong. Thank you for responding to my post.
  19. I am having a difficult time with one of my daughters who is very much against my up coming banding. I lost 200 pounds over 2 years on my own, however went through an some stressful time and gained 25 back in just 6 week! I want to complete my weight loss and this is just what I feel I need to do. My doctor feels with my healthy lifestyle and as much as I work out that this is the best way to go. I just need the support of my family, and wish they could understand why I want it so bad. Just wondering if others ran into this sort of problem with family.
