I Need A Fill
I know what you mean! I just started regular food and I can eat everything and I don't get much help (HUNGER CONTROL) from the band yet. I guess thats why they call it Bandster Hell !

Im Starving!!!!!!!
I liked chicken broth, it felt like a meal to me. The swelling made me feel full most of the time and satisfied with chicken broth and I hated the protein shakes (just about all varieties)

Bandster Hell
I'm in Bandster Hell. Being that I could not diet before the lap band successfully. Now I have to wait for 4 weeks till my first fill (Aug 27). I have the same diet problems as before being banded. I can eat anything I want, I just eat slower, I don't make real bad food choices but portion sizes are not optimum, less than before the band though. I will call my Doctor, but want input from the forum.

5 1/2months out 4fills later feeling restriction
I feel your pain and I hope that this is just a slow process and your not at the end but just the beginning. I fear for myself as well, as I am just a couple weeks past my surgery date, and my fear is the same as yours! There does seem to be many people here that have made it, and my hope for you and myself and everyone here that we can one day feel that our weight problem is behind us!

5 1/2months out 4fills later feeling restriction
Mis73 lost somewhere around 200 lbs I believe, so your PCP Doc got it wrong. Large amounts of weight can come off with the help of the band.

19 day out!
In bandster hell myself! Banded 7/8/13 and 1st fill will be 8/27/13, thats a little more than 6 weeks (yikes). What I'm trying to do is portion control because I can't feel/know when I'm full.

Inhaled my lunch...
I think Mis73 Doctors statment on restriction, should be a sticky!

Water, water and MORE water...
Don't have any tips! I try to drink my water (etc), but if I don't get the proper amount in then I don't get it in. I figure it's like watching your food intake, sometimes thats not perfect either.

Feeling Satisfied
I haven't had my first fill yet, so I know that I have a way to go,but as I'm eating I'm trying to feel! Ain't happening, just to many years of mindless eating to excess, and only being happy when the gut is stuffed!
-
Feeling Satisfied
Yeah, I guess I'll use portion control as my senses are not up to snuff! I've been betrayed by that "stop before being full or when satisfied" stuff before.
-
Feeling Satisfied
I have a problem knowing when I feel satisfied. I tend to still over eat and look for the stuffed feeling instead of the satisfied feeling!

Port still hurt ??
I'm 13 days in and not to tender at all. Guess I'm lucky

Pre-Op diet
You can get into a position that helps gas flow; get on hands and knees, dip your head down flat to floor surface while keeping posterior up. I learned this from my wife and it works!

Why are YOU Fat?
My Folks were born in (F)1918 an (M)1920 and I think that the fat stigma was not quite the same. Boths side did not have weight problems early, but with age they got heavier, on dads side he followed his father genetically speaking and had a bottom belly and I also follow that trait(my brother did not). I don't ever remember their weight being and issue and I am not that much heavier than my dad, both of us wear 46-48 waist (we are wide even when thinner). They came through the the Great Depression then WWII. My grandparents on my mothers side were born (GF) 1868)(GM) 1877 So what I think is; that staying alive was the main focus and they ate anything that they could by way of employment, and small family food plots.

JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES
July 8 is my date. I feel pretty good. I still have swelling and/or gas pain at the sternum area. Still feel pretty full but do get head hungry.Starting pureed food was great, my Doc told me to grind anything I like long as it's not junk food, protein first, then veggies make sure to eat 3 square meals. Eat slow and don't over eat! Hell I've been dieting most of my life, I know what the right or wrong foods are, but don't know when I'm full!

Heartburn... maybe?
I haven't had a fill yet and get the same thing. I have it almost all the time and figured it was the band?

Spaghetti Squash...Yum!
Try this one. bake/micro squash, scrap into bowl and let cool- add 1 T chopped fresh thyme,2 cloves minced garlic, 1/2 C good quality Parm cheese, 1 t cracked pepper- mix. On greased/sprayed cookie sheet make ping-pong size balls. bake in 350 oven, ten minute or till golden brown brown on top. These spaghetti squash bits are ez and are best served warm. Pureed diet question
Tonights supper was chicken tenderloins in tomato sauce w/ onions, celery, green peppers, mushrooms. Pureed! Of course the wife was able to have a mini baguette with her non pureed meal. I chose not to puree that.

Pureed diet question
My Doc also stated this afternoon that anything can be eaten, just make good choices, no junk food, do not over eat.

What To Eat ! Post Op Week 2
My phase 2 go's like this; Pureed foods, Baby food consistency foods - nothing you need to chew. Eat protein first, pureed chicken, scrambled eggs , mash low fat cottage cheese, smooth low cal yogurt, or low cal pudding. Then move onto mild pureed veggies such as carrots, green beans (avoid gassy veggies) Start taking chewable multi vitamin and calcium supplement. Eat 3 to 4 meals per day.Stop eating at first sign of fullness. Do not over eat. Do no not eat and drink together. No fluids half an hour prior to meals, with meals and 1 hour after meals to allow fullness and proper digestion. Continue Phase 2 for ___.

Early unexpected weight gain!
The big question is if still on a liquid diet and have no more than say 700 cal's, I can gain weight? Exercise increase and/or less calories is known to cure this, but come on 700 calories!
