Hope your healing will happens fast and you return refreshed! I have great respect for people like yourself and mis73. I feel that I'm in need of repeat lectures so please don't judge some of us harshly, after a lifetime of wrong headed food behavior a single slap to the brain is not enough for me. I think that some posts by veterans should be made into stickies and can become a reference material.
  3. IMO it's fine. If your watching calories just count them.
  4. I looked it up; it is suppose to be a rip off.
  5. Going to try the hot sauce trick right now as I'm a night eater.
  6. Breaking increments feels great! congrats
  7. It's like NA/AA (one day at a time), Life is still life and u will have ups and downs even with the band. I look to people like Mis73 and other's on this forum for inspiration.
  8. Welcome to the club
  9. Garden tomato's are now on the menu, even if I eat out, will come home and pick at some grape tomato's to make sure I'm satisfied!
  10. U can see the pounds falling off, congratulations.
  11. My Doc had Oxycodone with infused Tylenol for me. Used it only twice 1st day post-op and a total of four nights at bed time. Ibuprofen seems to be a no no, but tylenol is OK.
  12. On right side about 4 inch's from the belly button and 2 inch's below the rib cage. As for the scare it is the longest and about 2 inches long. Just like Guy hardly notice it.
  13. I looked from time to time and was always was disappointed with myself! It was hard to believe that I looked like that and I had let myself get that way and felt powerless to change. Until WLS that is.
  14. Banana & greek yogurt smoothie. You can always bring a protein shake.
  15. My wife was not initially in favor of me doing this. She said to diet and it will be OK, well why would it work now when it did not work for years! What had a big impact was when I told her at my Psych review that the Doc said it was a shame that I had no support from anyone! She felt that. I also told her that I want to live longer for myself an FOR HER! I told her that she knows that my health problems will be made worse. Now down about 18 lbs. and being able to still go out to dinner together(I have to make good choices). She is happy for my surgery!
  16. First of all this is not ez! You are a normal person, just one that has a weight problem! As for friends/family they may be afraid for you or for themselves. What I mean by that is the operation (afraid for you), and then you have a good chance of being a different person (afraid for themselves) !
  17. Why do tomato's fill me up when chicken breast and other proteins not so much. Is it the skins that make me feel that way (very small amount of pain in the sternum area )?
  18. I was not happy a while back because my weight lose stopped only after 2.5 weeks (after surgery). So I stopped weighing myself so much. Had trouble with amounts I was eating (ate to much), but now I think I'm getting the hang of how to do this! At least at this point! I have been on regular food about a week and here is how I see how to work with the band. I have not counted calories but try to eat good food, of course protein first, then veggies, sometimes a carb, even a small desert . 3 meals a day and maybe a bit of yogurt (greek). THATS IT! Weighted in this morning (after about 2 weeks) 2lb loss. and feeling good! One question though; At dinner time I can not feel satisfied, I was thinking about drinking more water/crystal light. Doc told me no liquid .5 hour before and 1 hour after a meal and it's after the meal I think I need to drink more to feel satisfied? What to do? TIA
  19. I was not thinking, thats how it happened. Sometimes I can eat a little to fast without any problem.
  20. PB is Productive Burping Slime is secretion from the end of the esophagus/stoma area. It was like clear but thick spit. (someone will correct me if not quite right)
  21. I was not sure myself, and afraid. My wife was not real happy about my wanting this. She was fearful, but came to terms with me wanting to save my life for the both of us. Being fearful that your life won't change after WLS is common. We all have failed trying to keep the weight off. Thats why we are all here. Does your doctor have a support group, he/she should and I would go to meeting or two! I am not that far along and I'm a bit apprehensive still! But I put my faith in my Doctors hands and hope far a day that I'm healthy and not morbidly obese!
  22. I slimed for the first time today, I wolfed down some food and the pain was bad at my sternum and I tried PB and some liquids to no avail. The slime was not to bad but the pain was. Is the pain normal when being gluttonous?
