Good question! I'm going to Florida in May with my hubby. I'm 5'4 and 279 right now. It was about 15 yrs ago the last time we went. I don't want to walk the walk of shame either.

Drainage from incision
Mine didn't drain but this is how mine looked. My Dr prescribed an antibiotic and it took care of it.

Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!
I haven't had vertigo but I do have a whooshing sound in my right ear at times. It drives me crazy when I'm trying to sleep at times. It's not as loud as it use to be. I had to get an MRI on my head. It showed one of my sinuses are narrower. My hearing test came out fine. I also had an ultrasound on my neck but I haven't found out the results from that. It started about 2 weeks after surgery. I think it had something to do with the weight loss. I don't notice it as much now since it's not as loud, but it's still happening. Sorry to hear about your vertigo. Hopefully it will get better with time. : ) It's so crazy how weight loss will affect us.

So how bad does it hurt when the drain tube is removed?
How long has it been in? Mine was in for 2 weeks and it didn't hurt. It just felt a little weird coming out.

Over the back sleep
I hate sleeping on my back! I started trying to sleep on my side about a week or so out. I used a body pillow to kinda prop my stomach against so I wouldn't roll over to my belly. I'm 8 weeks out and sleep on my side most of the time. I want to go back to my belly, but I'm paranoid that I will hurt something. I can't wait to get back to my stomach.

Gross but..need to know
Nasty!! Lol. The first several were black, runny and a lot of it. It didn't take long for them to be back to normal though.

Frustrated and depressed
Why would your insurance cover the surgery but not the hospital stay? That seems so weird! Where do they expect you to have it?

Post-op food nightmares..
I dreamed about greasy fried chicken breast crust. It was Hardee's chicken. I knew that I had my surgery in my dream, but I didn't care lol. I don't know why I dreamed about it, I wasn't craving it. But it tasted pretty good in my dream lol.

How much time to take off of work?
I was told mandatory 4 weeks and I needed every day. My Dr would have let me stay out longer if I wanted. It was a rough week when I went back to work. I'll be 7 weeks out Friday and I just started feeling really good last week. Some people go back within a week or two. People recover differently. Good luck on your journey! : )

Infection
So sorry to hear that you are having a rough time. It is an emotionally and physically draining journey. I'm 6 weeks out and have had my moments of regrets. We all probably do. It will get better! Take care of yourself. : )

So getting back on normal foods, wondering what kind of cereal to try.
Does your shakes count towards your fluids? My NUT said I can count them as both protein and fluid. Most days I don't count them as fluids though.

Suprised
I had RNY and I came home with a drain for 2 weeks. Like others said, it didn't hurt coming out. It was just a weird sensation.
