  1. Thank you all...as someone in the testing phase who often flounders back and forth with this decision (although I know I must do this and have chosen lap band w/ plication)....it helps when those moments of self-doubt and panic do set in.... this site and its phenomenal "bandsters" are truly amazing to me.....
  2. Sadly enough that person is just mean and he will be mean to someone else for some other reason throughout HIS pathetic life. Good job to your friend for saying something to him. People like that get away with it all too often! I know for me when someone does something mean I try to go out of my way to do something NICE for someone else. It only takes one good deed to make someone else smile. Eventually all those nice acts will overtake those RUDE beings we must deal with. Hold your head high!
  3. Its 9:08AM in NY...im sure you are prepped and ready....good luck....lets us know how you are feeling on the "other" side.....still testing here....look forward to hearing all of your positive experiences and your success! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
  4. Sorry, Nothing inspirational since im still in the testing phase...but please keep us posted on your progress, I am also planning to have lapband with plication and would love to hear your experiences and success when you have your surgery! Good luck to you!
  5. Thank you all....you are all super and i appreciate the pre-band support!!!
  6. Hi there, i am in the testing phases...but you just answered my question about how long some people are out of work for after surgery....trying to plan since my surgery will be when the school year has resumed for me.....wishing you well...look forward to following your success story!
  7. Just wondering what the recovery times were for many of you...I know this is also an individual process but I was just looking for "round-about" figures. My doc feels a couple of days out of work and I would feel good enough to return to work....i know it also depends on your job. Mine is working with 3-4 children in a small group setting. No heavy lifting of any kind...just walking and sitting and talking (lol) primarily. I am also going to have lap band with plication (where they fold the stomach and stitch it--like the sleeve but no removal of stomach). thanks so much as always!!
  8. That's great...congrats to you!
  9. HI....had my consult and went to a support meeting...he seems very nice, honest and caring....really like his team...everyone has been so nice! I'm in pre-op testing now and every doctor I've gone to (and the referrals were from my primary) have said that he is "great at what he does"....i've yet to hear anything to the contrary. It was my primary that recommended me to him and I trust his judgement!
  10. Such great inspirational stories and the people behind them just AMAZING...im still in pre-op testing and I feel like everything is taking forever....i second guess what i am doing and get scared and then i come here and read such terrific successes...I want and NEED this tool....im ready....willing...and able to do this...I AM!
  11. That's great news...please keep us posted...im stil in pre-op testing...hope to be where you are soon!
  12. Congratulations...what a wonderful success story so far....i am not banded yet and stories like this make me not second guess myself!!
  13. Thank you all so much for helping me get a handle on all this new information that will soon be a reality for me....i hope!!! You all are such an inspiration and I have learned so much from you!
  14. Im going thru all the appts. now...so far one with primary, one with surgeon, one support group, one dietician support group, one with pulmonologist they did breathing tests, that one led to 2 more one for chest xray and one for sleep study, one with cardiologist where they did ekg that led to two more, one for echocardiogram and one for pharmacological stress test, of course i had to have a follow-up with pulmonologist to discuss sleep test study, blood work at lab, and I still have to go for my upper gi series, and one appt with the dietician and psychologist.....this was all on top of 6 mos supervised doctor visits.... ...after all that is complete i need to see my primary again for clearance (like all of the above wasnt enough....lol) Then i will submit to GHI, my insurance, and hope for approval... Alot of work...but it will all be worth it if I get approval and get banded as soon as I can!! Good luck to you!!
  15. Congrats on your decision....i am finishing up the testing required so I can hopefully get insurance approval as well. Good luck...it is a wild ride so far and im not even banded yet! Looking forward to good things to come!!!!
  16. Congrats to you and thank you for sharing your experiences....im working on getting banded soon...hopefully sept....seems soooo far away....keep me posted! Looking forward to following your progress!
  17. Thank you SOOOO much, that does help! Just trying to prepare and wrap my head around all that is going to happen and change but guess I REALLY wont know until I'm there.....thanks again!
  18. Thank you both...im not banded so maybe im not getting it....i understand the band is not restricting what you eat etc...i guess im asking is that "restriction" they talk about feeling over and over in the book.....is it a describable feeling or do you have to be banded to truly understand it...forgive my ignorance on this....
  19. Ok...so I've been reading "the BIG book on the lap-band" and I'm learning so much from it. As I read and read....they keep talking about "feeling restriction". Now I know from being all over these boards that you dont actually feel your band inside of your body (except the port) but can someone possibly describe what it means to "feel" restricted..... Is it possible to put it into words..... All of you are a great help...receiving such great ideas and support for whats to come.... Finishing up all of the testing needed and my 6 mos supervised diet...hoping for a sept date...seems sooooooo far away! Oh my! Thanks!!
  20. What success...congrats to you....you look fabulous!
  21. Wishing you the best of luck....im still in my pre-op phase and would love to hear how you make out......
  22. Thank you as always for your help and input...i really enjoy reading your blogs. I am learning so much from everyone here...
  23. Thanks so much for the feedback and your experiences....I am leaning towards the plication as well and appreciate your input......
  24. Hello all, I am in my pre-op testing phase, finishing up 6 mos dr supervised diet and have the option of Lapband alone or Lapband with plication.... I've been reading and researching and have found tons of stuff on the lapband alone....and not much research on it WITH plication. Soooo....I'm reaching out to anyone who has had it done! Your overall experience and any extra information you have on the procedure would be greatly appreciated! I've learned so much from this site...hoping to learn lots more! Thanks!
