Diagnosed Today After A Long Battle

Sorry to hear that you are in so much pain...hope you get some much needed relief soon. Sending hugs and good thoughts your way! Have a better day!
  3. Good luck to you...the liquid part stinks (I had 2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op) but you can and will get through it...and believe me you will LOVE and APPRECIATE mushies/pureed like never before...lol Looking forward to hearing about your successes!
  4. I agree with terry....take it one step at a time and just remember what AND why you are doing this. It won't be all "peaches and cream" but it is so doable....and I've said this as a reply on other posts...when/if the day comes and you are wondering what you have done to yourself (as I did a day or two after surgery) push through it and remember you did it to better your health, better your life, better yourself. Follow YOUR doctors orders and relax! And try not to compare your progress to others...everyone is different....as long as you're losing (at any rate) you're losing...and that is the goal after all! I'm 2 1/2 mos out from surgery and so glad I made this decision...eating everything I want and like just in smaller portions. NO MORE DIETING HERE AND NO DEPRIVATION. It is a wonderful thing. I am feeling blessed and the results are showing! Good luck to you...hang in there....don't be a stranger...and keep up posted!

    Banded 12/6/13! Yesterday!

A little sore and not too hungry...and trying to follow all the new rules and drink enough. I was a bit teary and had some "buyers remorse" and even was asking myself what did I do to myself, did I make a mistake. My supportive hubby kept reassuring me it was the right decision and all will be alright. Well, 2 1/2 mos later, no fills to date, eating everything I want without any deprivation, walking, listening to my band, and still learning to walk away from a plate with food still on it and realizing the world won't collapse because of it... I am 55 lbs down and feeling SO good about myself.... Congrats to you on your new journey...wishing you all the best...keep us posted!
  7. SO STRESSED OUT....but I didn't run to food or even have the urge to eat...Kuddos to me...The stress is not gone but the pounds sure are....AMEN!!!!

    Stuck After Taking A Vitamin

I actually just found adult strength liquid acetaminophen (Tylenol) at CVS. It's the only place I've seen it so I bought a couple bottles of it to have on hand. Oh dear, so sorry. I fear this -- just found a brand at CVS for fish oils called "Half the size." Hoping those will work for me as I need the fish oils for arthritic pain. Cannot do Tylenol now -- the oblong shape is no good. I read on some one's post about flapping your left elbow like a crazy chicken dance and how that can help. I have no idea but thought I'd put it out there. Best wishes to you! Here it is: http://www.cvs.com/shop/product-detail/CVS-Extra-Strength-Pain-Relief-Adult-Liquid-Rapid-Burst-Cherry-Flavor?skuId=695051 This was my savior after surgery....I didnt need the heavy duty pain killers!

    Pre-Op Need To Know's

It's a journey that you just have to take one day at a time. And if/when the day comes and you say "what the heck did I do to myself" (I did several times post-op)...push through it and know that you made the best decision to better yourself, your health and your life. I'm down 51 pounds already and have such energy and self-confidence and feel really great about ME...what an awesome feeling to have again after so many years of hiding. Don't let anyone frighten you into foods you can and cannot eat and when to or not to get your fills....everyone is different. Personally, I haven't needed a fill yet and will not be getting one on my next check up on 12/4....I eat 3 small meals and one small snack and am satisfied and happy. And I can eat everything so far (although I wont eat triscuits any time soon--they gave me some grief....lol-just an uncomfortable feeling). You have to go through your own trial and error period once your doc gives you the ok for solids. Follow YOUR docs advice only! And last, but not least, cut yourself some slack after surgery when you begin to eat again. It takes awhile to adjust to the new routines and "rules" of eating with a band and time to get used to the mechanics (small bites, eating slow etc) Don't expect perfection ....it takes time..all in the learning curve. Hope that helps you some and good luck...keep us posted!
  22. Ditto....exactly... I'm about 9 weeks out of surgery and I'm eating 3 meals plus one small snack (between lunch and dinner). During the week at work, I'm usually eating some kind of hot or cold Cereal w/milk. For lunch at work usually chicken, tuna, or egg salad w/ light mayo and some kind of crackers. Snack is usually baby bel light cheeses or cottage cheese. And dinner is 3-4 oz protein, 1/2 c. veggie, 1/4 c. carb. I use fitness pal as well and its nice not to be journaling everything. But I eat everything and go for smaller portions and have been happy with the results so far....loving lap-band life! Hope that helps in some way!

    I Lost My Daughter-In-Law

That is GREAT...it is crazy when you think of what we carry and are losing. Im down 50lbs but I often think of that as 10 - 5 lb bags of potatoes. Try going to the store and picking all that up in your arms at once. It blows my mind. I can't imagine how it feel to lose 100, 125, 150 and more like many here have been successful doing....However, I do look forward to that day. Thanks for sharing that great story!
  24. Thankful for so much and so many! What a wonderful day....today, tomorrow and days to come!
