  1. Hi Joy, I was banded on the 21st. I promise it gets better. I felt pretty crappy days 2-4 post-op. Since then, each day has been better and better. Ouch! I did that once. I had bought some niacin because I read it helped with cholesterol. Well, I started flushing and it burned, I looked like my whole body had a sunburn! I was scared and took myself to the ER.
  2. Hi Monica, I am new at this, but happy to chat and offer support and encouragement.
  3. I am a week out now and I promise it gets better each day. I felt like that too. Hang in there, it goes fast.
  4. Not from BC, but hello from a fellow Canadian.
  5. Aw that doesn't make you bad, it makes you human! You got lots of steps in too! Have fun with your grandchildren!
  6. One week out from Surgery today. Days 2-4 ish were rough, but each day got better. I hardly take the pain meds and I am on to full liquids. The first day on full liquids I was nauseous, but it got better in the evening when I had something not sweet/fruity. I swear I am turned off fruity protien water and broth forever. Now that I am feeling better, I am focusing on gaining back strength and drinking 6-8 cups of water. I am down 14 lbs since pre-op, 6 more since banding. I know that could change the moment I put something solid into my mouth. To anyone newly banded and miserable, it does get better each day! Stay strong.
  7. Good luck on your day and wishing you a speedy recovery.
  8. hehe, I've had a couple too. Last night I was sampling different baby food meals..
  9. Congrats! I was also banded Friday the 21st.
  10. Hi, I am just 6 days post-op. Right now concentrating on healing. Congrats on your loss.
  11. I asked them if there was something else, as gravol makes me drowsy but they said no, to look for the non-drowsy version. I think I'll venture out to the pharmacy later. First outing! lol
  12. Ok I called the clinic, and they said to just make sure I keep getting Fluid in, go slow etc and they only recommend gravol. I tried to be really careful drinking it and it took me a good hour to drink that half (about 1/2 C). I'll look for non-drowsy meds and just keep trudging along and this too shall pass I am sure. Thanks for the replies!
  13. Nope, just my own gravol, but that makes me sleepy. I'll call them.
  14. Hi all, 6 days post-op and I am allowed to start full liquids today. I was so excited last night! This morning when I got up I had a feeling it wasn't going to go as planned. I had a bit of coffee and that made me feel a bit icky, so I waited and when I felt hungry I tried a Boost. I could only drink maybe half and felt nauseous. Still do. Is this something others have experienced moving onto the next phase? The thought of lunch right now makes me...ugh
  15. Congrats! Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery.
  16. Sorry about your cat's adventure, but I am happy to hear she is better. It is stressful when our pets are sick. Good luck Gary and I hope all goes smooth.
  17. Good luck, thinking of you!
  18. I am better today, even better than yesterday. Still very tight in the morning though, going to try hot lemon Water. Gas, not too bad, but yep still there. Hunger has come back with force. I get to start full liquids tomorrow and have coffee! I walked out to the mailbox today and felt weak on the way back. Plus my leg is sore from falling. I hope tomorrow is even better than today and I will almost feel human again! Not sure of my shape, I never really thought I fit into pear or apple shape category, but I think more on the pear side. But yeah, that port area stings! How are you hanging in?
  19. I am anxious to be recovered. lol but I know this phase will pass. It's mostly discomfort and the horrible tightness/pressure in the morning. My hunger has suddenly come back too. I am better than yesterday though!
  20. Welcome and Good luck to you. I had surgery on June 21st.
  21. Good luck! Wishing you all a smooth recovery!
