  1. So I am sitting here is a tiny room at True Results in Phoenix, AZ for my presurgery consult with 15-20 other people. I am now an hour past my appointment time at 12:30. Sorry with three kids in tow it is not my cup of tea to sit and wait and wait and wait.
  2. I am not nervous at this particular time. However, I will probably be extremely nervous again in 30 minutes. Haha, I go through phases. Yesterday I was terrified and ready to cancel. Today, I'm a cool cucumber. Where are you located Linda? I am in Arizona. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  3. I've found the Atkins shakes are tolerable for me as they have no soy. However, the downfall with At,ins is they only have 15 grams of Protein. I would like to have more. I think I might checkout the Isopure drinks. Worth a try I guess. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  4. We can be band buddies LindaE! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  5. Thanks for all the kind words! I feel back to normal again today. I have my preop appointment with my surgeon today at 12:30 (AZ time). I am back to being excited. The surgery center called today to see how I was feeling after yesterday and informed me they put air in my belly for the scope. Explains the monster burping yesterday! Haha! I also woke up this morning with my weight loss since Thursday still hanging at 4.5 lbs. so I didn't do a ton of damage in that regard with my snackiness yesterday. Phew again! 6. So I started my preop diet last Thursday and have been doing simply okay. I had a scope today which left me feeling horrible all day. I've been practically passed out on my couch since I got home. Also, my diet got messed up because of the procedure. I was a bit nauseous afterward so I didn't have my shake when I got home and had very little Water until I drug my arse out of bed at 12:30. I was left with this AWFUL taste in my mouth from the procedure. And they gave me a med via my IV that dried up my secretions (saliva) which has been fun to deal with. Then my body decided in the middle of the month, being on the pill, to start bleeding fairly heavily. I've also been having crazy cramps that Tylenol just doesn't touch. No Motrin for me for awhile. Ugh, I've been unable to control my snackiness all day. Hoping tomorrow will be a better day. I just feel sick to my stomach after the procedure and I've been burping a lot. Anyway, sorry just needed to complain. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  7. I am definitely struggling with my preop diet. I had a scope today which messed up my schedule and threw me off the whole day. Ugh. I usually don't have this big of an issue with diets. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  8. Oh wow! I'm very happy to read all of your replies. I'm worried about meat eating after the band. I really don't want something to get stuck! Haha! How long did it take for you to get used to chewing and chewing me chewing and chewing? I am worried, too, about remembering to take small bites and chew the heck out of it! I guess the first time I'm in pain because of it I'll remember! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  9. I am doing a preop diet. I started it Thursday (kind of) and I've lost 4.5 lbs since then. I am supposed to replace 2 meals with Protein shakes and then the 3rd meal is a lean meat and some green leafy vegetable. I can have 1 cup of fruit. And sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles in the mean time. It isn't easy that is for sure, but it also isn't terrible. Yesterday was hard as we went to dinner for any early Father's Day celebration to Outback. Home of my favorite cheese fries. We did not order them. Phew! Good luck with your diet. Try to stay busy to keep your mind off of the food you won't be having. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  10. I agree that couch25k (couch to 5k) is a great way to start. I have the app on my iPhone. It starts out slow and progresses you to run a full 5k over several weeks. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  11. Eek! I have my surgery next Thursday, 6/20. I am reading all these gas posts and getting nervous, I just told my hubby we need to go to the store for some gas-x ASAP! Haha! Good luck to you all!
  12. This is a completely random question, but I am paying out of pocket for my band. What happens if it slips and I need surgery? Will that be covered? Hmm...
  13. My insurance won't pay at all. I and to do 12 months of a medically supervised weightless program and if I lost 5 lbs or more over the year it is considered a success and therefore the band won't be covered. So, I ended up paying out of pocket through True Results.
  14. Did you all set up a group? I'm being banded on 6/20 by Dr. Nirmul.
  15. I live off of Ironwood and Ocotillo. I am being banded on 6/20. Would love some people to talk to!
  16. I might try a powder later. Right now with preop I'm limited to 1 cup of fruit a day. I LOVE fruit. Haha! I've not heard of protein water. I'll have to check it out. I also kind of like the pre made ready to go shakes as I am a teacher of special education students who are sensitive to sound so they will freak out if I bust out with a loud blender at school! School starts again 8/7 (my birthday) so I know I'll get stuff figured out by then. I hope. Thanks for the ideas!
  17. Hi! I am being banded on 6/20. I live in Arizona.
  18. Hi! I am being banded on 6/20 by Dr. Nirmul. I live in the far East valley, San Tan Valley/Queen Creek.
  19. So I'm in the preop diet phase awaiting surgery on 6/20. I've tried the Slim Fast shakes that are the low carb, high protein ones and found them to be gross! I am trying Atkins today and it is much better. I think I also have a problem with soy-based products. I did Medifast for awhile and had terrible stomach pains when I ate certain products - all of which contained soy. The Slim Fast shakes also ad soy and I got similar stomach pains. Atkins doesn't have soy listed as an ingredient so I am hoping no pain after drinking this one!
  20. My surgery is set for 6/20. I am struggling with my preop diet. I kind of feel I would be better off if I were restricted to liquid only. I am doing two protein shakes to replace two meals and then 4 oz of lean protein. I am limited to 1 cup of fruit and as many green veggies as I want. I'm getting nervous!
  21. I am having surgery with Dr. Nirmul on 6/20/13. Excited and terrified all rolled into one! Tell me how you all are doing?
  22. Dave, I am having my surgery 6/20 with Dr. Nirmul! The surgery just called me today to get all my background info. I have started my 1 week preop diet and I'm a little cranky about it! Haha! I, too, almost backed out, but I really need to do this for my health. I have three kids who need a healthy mom!
