  1. I get to shower today!! It's the little things right? Haha. I gained 6 lbs from fluids on surgery day and I am finally back down to where I was the morning of surgery. I am going to take some photos today to track progress as I forgot Thursday. I used a heating pad yesterday and it really seemed to help with the gas. Thankfully!! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  2. Gas-x strips are not working. I tried ice and holy smokes did that hurt!!! I'm walking and walking and breathing deeply, but nothing is passing yet.
  3. I am trying to get as many fluids in as possible! Now that my bladder seems to be on par again, this should be easier!!
  4. Not sure how I am going to sleep with my crazy bladder and shoulder pain. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  5. So I do not feel hungry in the least. I am now 24 hours with no food. I've been sipping water, but wondering if I should make myself drink some other liquids?
  6. Well, I was a bundle of nerves this morning. But I made it through. For everyone wondering, here is my experiences. GAS - holy schnickeys! I awoke to gas pains in my left shoulder and chest. Oddly, breathing deeply helps me with these pains. I've taken the gas-X strips just to help, but really the breathing and walking does good! PORT - good grief! If not for mr. Port I don't think I would need my pain meds. The port pain is no joke, but tolerable. Potty breaks - I have the urge to go, but very little comes out. Hoping my bladder wakes up soon as I don't want to be cathed. I coughed up some yuckiness from being intubated, and was super fearful it would hurt, but it wasn't terrible. What else.... I've drank Water, but have to put anything else in my belly. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  7. I've successfully made t to the "other side" Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  8. All went well! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  9. I've got tons of butterflies in my belly. Deep breath.
  10. I am to be at the surgery center at 7 am tomorrow. I will tell them, but dang! I'm so irritated with myself.
  11. Soo...I was told to have my last meal (and it should be shake) by 6. No problem. I then went to Hi-Health and picked up some (hopefully awesome) protein powder. And started looking at Calcium as my labs showed I was low in calcium. The guy said on I think I have a sole for that chewable. Great! He did. I sampled. I then freaked a bit as it was after 6! Like 6:30 at the latest.
  12. So...this is it. It is 5:45. I drank my last preband protein shake. No more food and water until midnight. I check in at 7 am tomorrow. Feeling silently nervous I think. Haha.
  13. Because I was also found to have a hiatal hernia, my insurance will cover the cost to repair the hernia (think anesthesia, hospital fees, etc) so my surgeon is placing the band then. I am paying $5,500 out of pocket for the band because of this slight "loophole". Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  14. Okay, I guess I'm just worried about 1) getting them down and 2) the pill staying down! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  15. No! It is a pill. I think I am going to ask my pharmacist to call and get dissolvable ones. He also wrote a script for a suppository anti nausea med, but I don't think I'll be using that one. Haha!
  16. Hi all, I am heading out to fi my prescriptions for tomorrow's surgery. My doc gave me a tablet Zofran for nausea. I had assumed it would be sublingual. Anyone else get tablets? Did they go down okay and STAY down?
  17. Oh my gosh! I'm glad you mentioned body pillow! I just added it to my "list". Thank you for the "don't worry" I feel better. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  18. I've been reading about people sleeping in their recliners after surgery. I am having surgery Thursday (6/20) and now I'm freaking out that I won't be able to sleep as I have no recliner. Eek! Tell me I'm being lame. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  19. Kellbell82 - I love that dress in your profile pic. I might ask you pass that down to me after your shrink out of it! Haha! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  20. Ooh, this is something I've been thinking about too! I teach a self-contained special education class of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. I have kids in my class ALL the time. I do not have a dedicated lunch or prep time. Ever. It will be interesting for sure. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  21. Nina, unfortunately they already have my self-pay money.
