  1. Well over the past 2-3 days I've developed a "pain" on the right side of my abdomen. It feels like a pulling pain. I don't feel it when sitting, but when I stand up and move it is there. I can eat and drink like normal. I did run two 5k's last weekend and I'm hoping it is stemming from that. Anyone experience something similar?
  2. Sometimes the pain is more intense then other times. I can totally feel pulling around my port when I do a lot of ab work so I know that sensation, but this right sided pain throws me. I am going to call the surgeon in the morning to see about getting in for them to check me out.
  3. My daughter has a stomach bug and I am just praying I escape it. Wish me luck!

    Stomach bug...

Thanks all. I actually still have my anti nausea meds from my surgery and it still has a refill available so I am good to go in that arena. So far, so good!

    NSV!

SO, I've been feeling a little down lately with my plateau at 40 lbs out. I've been slightly depressed with some life events and what not, and my scale just doesn't move. I am in Vegas now with a friend for a girls weekend. I have no shorts that fit so she grabs me a pair. Now, I started my journey wearing a tight 18. Today I put on a 10!!!!!! I've been wearing a 12 for awhile now so this was huge! It has shown me that the changes I've made recently are in fact making changes. I couldn't believe I put on a pair of size 10 jean shorts. Definitely feeling good about myself!
  6. So, I found I out I am considered to be insulin resistant. What does this mean? Well, it explains why I get to my current weight and can't go any further, even with the band. It makes me so sad to know that I went down this lapband path with good, hopeful thoughts, only to find out that stinky family history of diabetes is essentially getting in the way. I am not diabetic, I am not pre-diabetic. I do have diabetes on both sides of my family, and had gestational diabetes in all three pregnancies which are the main factors for me getting the band - help in losing the weight so I don't become diabetic as well. Anyway, now I get to work extraordinarily hard to jump this hurdle and decide if I want to take the medication Metformin to help me jump the hurdle. Adding in more exercise everyday. I can do this. Right? I cannot even tell you how sad I am to have learned this, but also somewhat relieved to know that it isn't me screwing up. Blah. Anyone else experience insulin resistance?
  7. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Tell me more about the skin discoloration? That could be another symptom for me?

    Post-Op Liquid Diet?

I agree with the previous posters that Karen was not being rude. I read her post as a simple reminder that what you posted was your plan and that others should follow their own doctors plan. I do, however, feel that your comments to Karen and the other posters was rude.
  9. I've read on several sites that indicate some people have issues with diarrhea on metformin. That does not excite me!
  10. No, they were very clear that I am not diabetic. Nor am I prediabetic. However, insulin resistance can lead to diabetes over time. They give metformin as an aid to help facilitate weightloss, not as a drug for diabetes - in my case.

  12. Quite like getting stuck. I've been stuck, like BAD stuck both Friday and today (Monday). Friday was a pain so indescribable I hate to even think about it. I've been really good at small bites and chewing properly so I'm kind thrown for a loop on why this is happening. I've never really had stuck episodes before so I am more then concerned that it has happened these two times. If it happens again I will call the doctor.
  13. Unfortunately, these are foods I eat on a regular basis.
  14. B-52 I'm not sure how to take your comment. I'm hoping it is not meant to be snarky. I have tremendously modified my eating and eating behaviors overall. I posted my thread as I am now having stuck episodes that I had not previously had when I am eating the proper band way.
  15. Being stuck means food is not passing through. Usually due to not having chewed well enough or eaten too large of a bite.

    Nsv!

I went in for a follow-up today. Completely in the green zone and no fill needed or wanted. I am down almost 40 lbs and the NP said I have far exceeded what they consider "normal" (1-2 lbs per week). Woot woot! Anyway, I have yet to really buy anything new since losing all this weight. So I went to Old Navy and tried on several pairs of pants, all skinny jeans that were 3-4 sizes smaller then when I first started this process!!!!! I think the people around the changing room I was in were wondering what was going on with my squeals of delight! Did I mention they were skinny jeans? We are doing family pics on 11/24 and I'm excited about it!
  18. I'm up for a meet n greet! I wouldn't mind doing the True Results support group but it is so far away!
  19. So this morning I woke up at 5 a.m. and decided since I was up and couldn't go back to bed I would go for a run. It felt great to start my work day off right. Then I found out around 10 a.m. my project on DonorsChoose was fully funded (almost a $1,000 project) which really made my day. I made the mistake of telling my special ed students that I was so excited for our class that I might pee my pants. We all had a good laugh...THEN I heard one of my precious children was telling other students and teachers that I peed my pants because I was so excited. Lol, love these kids! And finally, I lost another 1.5 lbs! Just when I was starting to get discouraged from my plateau it broke! Phew! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  20. oatmeal. Well, "love" is a tad to strong of a term. I can tolerate oatmeal now. I get about 8-10 grams of Protein from it in the morning and it holds me over until lunch. What foods do you now like/love/tolerate since joining band-dom? Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

  22. I met a sneaky little bastard today. His name: chocolate cupcake. I've had a crappy, crappy week work wise in addition to the one month mark of losing my bestie, so I decided I deserved to let myself indulge on the cupcake that was nicely placed on my desk as I loaded my students on the SpEd bus. Two bites in and what happens? That little bastard, devil of a chocolate cupcake gets stuck! And I mean STUCK! I've had minor "stuckage" (i think i just invented a new word) in the past that passes quickly with little discomfort. Not today. That bastard cupcake caused some hellacious pain in my chest and for the first time ever, my mouth started salivating to try and get that a*****e cupcake down. I just knew that the lapband gods were trying to teach me a lesson. I stared down that a*****e half cupcake that sat on my table taunting me as walked frantically around my room trying make his bastard half cupcake portion pass. If that bastard cupcake had human qualities he would have been shaking in his boots knowing how much I hated him at that moment. I walked over to that cupcake, picked that bastard up in his stupid little napkin, and smashed him to pieces. He was then emphatically thrown in the can never to see my teeth again. So what is my point? Sneaky, little bastard, a*****e chocolate cupcakes are the devil and not my friend. I hate them. I hope they burn in hell. Forever. Thank you. You may now rejoin your regularly scheduled reading. AND be on the lookout for those sneaky little bastard a*****e chocolate cupcakes....and you should also watch out for their siblings too, like vanilla, strawberry, etc. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
