I finally purchased a new belt size small. I couldn't believe it. I haven't worn a small anything since well I can't remember that's just how long it's been.

Wow there are so many I could list but here is a small list. I will spare you all by omitting the TMI ones.

Walked a 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness back in Sept. 18 months ago I couldn't walk the Supermarket for 10 minutes! Next year I am planning a team for Relay for Life.
Gone from a size 62 jeans to a size 40!!
No longer shelling out big money for Big&Tall and Catalog clothing. $17 bucks for jeans at Walmart
Ability to go to any restaurants and no longer have to wait for a table when there are booths available
Sitting in any chair without the fear of breaking it. Still I have reservations because I sometimes forget I am not as big as I was.
Going to a movie theater and worry about whether or not the arm rests are movable
Not only did I attend my buddies Wedding this past Summer but I was in it!! AND I was styling in that Tux.
Adjusting my seat up in my truck and tilting the steering wheel a bit
Arthritis in my knee has not flared up in over a year and I can't remember where I put my Cane
Crossing my legs. I think we all said that one and it is amazing the smallest thing could mean so much
I no longer get stared at like I am some sort of Circus attraction.

I know there's been a zillion threads on this, but what's one more right?
I am seeing A LOT of people so hung up on the scale that they're missing the Non scale Victories (yes that's what NSV means).
So, please list your NSVs here! It doesn't matter how big or how small, we want to hear it!
Mine are (in no particular order):

The ability to sit in any chair I want without worrying if I'll fit or break it
The ability to sit in booths at restaurants
Flying without needing a seat belt extender
No longer wearing plus sized clothes
Trying on a size 'large' shirt and finding it's too big- and buying a size 'medium'
Walking by mirrors while shopping and thinking "wow I look cute" instead of "ugh gross"
Being very active in my kids' lives
Going from needing a cane to get around the house to walking 2 miles a day unaided
No longer having high blood pressure or high blood sugar.
No longer having a sleep apnea (or even snoring anymore)
Not being recognized by people who haven't seen me since getting my band (literally)
Being able to wear cute, stylish clothes (I've become a shopping addict!)
    Sitting with my legs crossed
Being told I look more like my almost 19yr old daughter's sister rather than her mother

I could lose and then it would come right back. I would put myself on low calorie diets and I would be starving all the time. Then I couldn't take it - then there was binging which just made the whole thing go out the window! The lapband helped me stay satisfied and I'm not starving all the time. I was 242 when I started this - now I'm 218. I know for a fact that I would just have been heavier had I not done this surgery. I wish you the best!

Careful, the three-week pre-op peeps might round up a posse and come after you -- you'll be pummeled with empty cans of Protein powder and spatulas with flax seeds stuck all over them!
I was so happy to finally get to have time with the surgeon after the various other appointments. He had a very thorough write-up of exactly what takes place. I used that to write questions in the margins, circle things I wanted to know more about, etc. and then we just talked for a while. I was glad to get to know him as we will be seeing quite a bit of each other in the coming months.
As for pre-op diet, they seem quite flexible. I will have a two-week liquid diet. I didn't want to use the product they provide because it's dairy based and laced with aspartame and other stuff I don't want to take. Two weeks of dairy would make my digestive system very unhappy and that's not a good plan. I found a naturopathic Meal Replacement shake that I've run by the nutritionist -- pea and rice Protein. I got the herbs, too, so I will be doing those as well as good ole liver cleansing standards like lemon in hot Water first thing in the AM, etc. I'm also having a colonoscopy -- figured I'd get that over with after procrastinating for two years. So a clear system for going into banded life and hopefully a little head start on weight loss as well.
Good luck -- let us know how your appointment goes!

I have a butterfly on the left breast that I got when I got divorced. My husband had always told me that "only sluts have tattoos", but for me the butterfly meant freedom. I have a Harley-Davidson emblem on my left butt cheek. When I was smaller, it looked like it could be on a Sporster--------now it is definitely a Wide Glide! I was at my Dr.s office a couple of weeks after I got the tatt and the nurse was about to give me shot. She looked at the tattoo and said Fran, I didn't know you were into Harleys. I told her I wasn't, I had been into the tequilla.

Sooooo...I almost hugged my scales this a.m.!!! For the past 15+ years, I've been over 200 lbs...way over. I had a follow up appointment scheduled with my surgeon today and decided to weigh before I went. I didn't want to be surprised, shocked or disappointed. Well..I thought my eyes were deceiving me, so I tried not to get excited. The dr's office scales are always different anyway. I got there and weighed in today at 197.8!!! I almost cried. Although I know I still have long way to go, but I am so excited and happy!!!

jenwebber, Bandista, jamilyne 102668 & MandaMom23...thank you all so much! It's been quite a journey, but I'm thankful for everyone on this forum who have shared the ups and downs. I still have about 60 pounds to go before I reach my goal, but I appreciate all the encouragement. Let's all continue to support and cheer for each other!!!

Nearly all of the countries that have socialized healthcare coverage have higher success rates medically than the US. Their citizens are happier with their healthcare overall than many US citizens are with their pay-to-play insurance coverage. There have been learning curves in some countries, and not all have managed to keep socialized care because they could not manage their expenses; which makes me think the US is clearly not grown up enough to manage socialized care right now either. Until we establish that a middle class is wholly necessary and that unending wealth is killing our country, we will not be in a position to do anything helpful or healthy at all. That is an entirely different discussion.
The point is, many countries manage socialized health care very well and quite successfully. Hell, even CUBA has a better track record than the US!

WellWellw Well let's just get it straight. Obamacare was Romneycare and passed by the congress with more republican votes when it was **** Mitt Romneys idea. For those who think that people should not have insurance then something is wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with people being able to purchase health insurance because frankly I am tired of my home taxes going to local hospitals to pay for these damn people who need their drugs and take up valuable beds in the ER and never pay their bill. Say what you want but if you didn't have health insurance you would be glad to have it. Most people do not research they only talk from blogs they have read. Go to the government website and see what it offers. I am sure if your children or parents had no insurance you would be glad they could get it.
