  1. I have officially been approved as a candidate for banding! My first appointment on the long 6 month journey is 6/17!

    Day 4 Post-Op

I heard that you cannot eat regular foods until week 6 after banding - true? That will be difficult. I was also wondering about how many days I would need to take off work. The people I talked to had this done prior to 2005 and they had to miss 4 weeks; I think it's a lot better now. I just got approved as a candidate today so I am at the beginning of the process.

    The Troll has spoken.....LMAO

Hello all! I am a bit new to all this and I find this site rather helpful in helping me make my decision. I just wanted to hear honest experiences (good and bad) from everyone so I know what I am getting myself into. As with anything... everyone may have a different experience which is why I think this is a pretty good site.
  4. Hello Carolina girl!! How have you managed to lose so much weight with no fills?? I haven't had the procedure yet I am waiting for response to my evaluation form. I think this would be great to not need fills, but I thought that the band loosened with time? Thoughts?

    Are you hungry?

I am so excited and I hope I am qualified! My biggest problem is portion control and always being hungry. I feel like I pig out (even on healthy foods) then I'm hungry a short time later. I know that this procedure would be perfect for me to manage my portions!!!

    Borderline BMI

aww that sucks! I checked with my insurance and HR and they both confirmed that the procedure was covered. Being a candidate is up to the physician. I am just under at 38 something, but I have osteoarthritis in my knee (25% gone at age 33) and I have minor issues with hypertension. I am hoping to be qualified - sent off eval waiting for a response! Yea maybe you could drink a bunch of Water or wear ankle weights! hahaha
  8. Congrats!!! I just sent my evaluation form the other day so I am waiting to hear back for approval. My insurance also covers the procedure. I was a little bummed having to wait 6 months, but I understand it is in my best interest! Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me! ** New to this site, I was able to load a pic on album but it won't let me add profile pic? Like I can't click on it so i think it's site issue?

3 month plateau.....no weight gain or loss

Hello - I have not gotten the band yet but am looking into it. However, there is a book out by Dr Ian Smith (supported by Steve Harvey, Dr Oz and many other celbs) and it is called the SHRED diet. This book is about food confusion to keep your motabolism going and get you over plateaus. It is a 6 week diet and the book tells you exactly what to eat. I did this diet and lost 15 lbs in 5 weeks. I went on vacation and got off the diet and now am having a hard time committing. My portion sizes are out of control which is why I am considering the band. But if you are going through all that to get over that plateau, you might want to try this. It works if you are dedicated. Most of the foods you eat are soup, chicken/fish, salad etc.

1 week post op, OMG, what a trip!!

I am considering this surgery, thank you for being so discriptive of your experience. It sounds like when I got my tubes tied - the discomfort and pain. I am also surprised at the size of the scar because when I read up on this it said 1.5 cm in length.

Hanging out for my next fill, I miss the green zone!

I am just considering the procedure.... how often do you have to get the band filled or adjusted? Once they get it right for you, is that it? Or will you always have to return? I was a little confused about that.

    Small Victories

Hello, I am new to all of this and trying to gather information and see what others think about this procedure before I decide to get it. I heard about the pre surgery liquid diet, but not post! Wow, when can you eat regular foods again? ~Billie
