I was never lactose intolerant before surgery, but was for the first several months after surgery.... try without for a few days and see how it goes.
At around 4 months, I had no problem with dairy.

joatsaint reacted to LifetimeLoser in 5 Weeks Post-OP Still Teaching Myself to Eat Slowly
6 months out and sometimes still do this. I don't expect to be a pro at this. I mean 32 years of stuffing my face vs. 6 months of trying to eat slow. No comparison there! Lifestyle changes don't happen overnight just have to keep on truckin.

I found using a ridiculously tiny pickle fork at meal times helped slow me down a bit.

joatsaint reacted to PsychoVGS in 5 Weeks Post-OP Still Teaching Myself to Eat Slowly
Relieved to hear others having trouble with eating slowly. I am 8 weeks out and consistently find myself in pain after eating. I think that eating too quickly makes it difficult to sense when I am full, so I end up eating beyond that point. I have got to SLOW down!

Reading this did a doozy on my taste buds. As I am 9 days in on liquid diet. I am sure I wont be able to make this for a long time but I am looking so forward to it. Thanks for sharing.

Free work food has been a failing of mine for over a decade. I see it as a challenge, and that's part of my psyche make up. Growing up we competed for food, so I eat like a tornado and take pride in my consumption. Total backwards stupidity I know...
Luckily, I took a new position in the same company and I moved away from the conference area where the free food always gets dumped. After I (hopefully) get sleeved, I'm sure I'll still have that temptation. They say they cut off the part that produces the FEED ME NOW hormone. I hope thats true, but if its not, my thought is to keep fluids up while not eating calories so the system never feels empty. And its so small it should be easy to keep water in it, right? I'll just be water cooled, like a small engine block...

One cookie and one bag of chips once in a blue moon is ok...that's what people do...but you have to keep it in check...like no more than once a month or something like that. I had a cookie Sunday..one smallish cookie...not the whole batch.

Yea I cant wait till cleaning up in the bathroom is a simple and quick process. That's the shame that led me to consider WLS. "this is taking way too long!"

joatsaint got a reaction from Tiffany0818 in Stall :(
Gone through it and still going through it several times over the past 7 months. 27lbs in 6 weeks in incredible. Almost 5lbs a week! Just ask yourself, "How fast was I losing weight pre-surgery?" I bet it wasn't 4lbs a week. You are going to go through stalls, we all do. It's part of the process. :-)

thanks for sharing...even though embarrassing I'm sure there are many out there who go through similar things. I had my own bathroom issues when I was extremely overweight...female issues. It feels awesome to go to the bathroom like a normal person.

Yes that shirt makes your head look big.
I did the 30 min talk, the test, and left. It was the 500 question questionnaire and it dealt with eating food, taking meds, religion, and self-esteem. there was no feedback, no explanation to why I was there, or no discussion if he would recommend me to have surgery...
When does the feedback happen?

I met with psych and she refused me surgery for 3 months. Had to see my own GP and get on antidepressants. I have a son with behaviour probs and a lot more and when I stress I eat. Feeling good now, surgery for next week. Can't stay on the anti depressants for ever though.

Don't be hating on all the post surgery horny women...that is in your favor
I thought the whole thing was hilarious and have a couple more for you to add:
1. Can I eat _______ (fill in the blank) and oh yeah I am driving home from the hospital
2. I haven't lost a pound in two days and I am three weeks post surgery
3. My sister's cousins brother's wife had surgery and regained all their weight...I am unsure why this one bugs me so much.

Just tell them you've been in the wrong body all this time and you're going in for sex reassignment surgery. That way, no matter what people hear about you, they'll assume it's a lie - after all you came back to work looking the same as you left! :-P
