About Me

  • Gender
    Female
My Name= Diane
I started this journey because I was (again) going to WW and just throwing money down the drain. When I finally realized that I was almost 250 lbs and gaining I knew I had to do something.
My husband had lap band surgery and lost over 100 lbs. He was doing great although there were a few set backs, he got back to his regular visits and took control again.
I thought with his encouragement I would be fine and this would be a breeze. Not so.
Because of insurance I had to travel 160 miles for the surgery. I loved my surgeon and staff. But getting back and forth was becoming difficult. After reaching a good report on the actual surgery I was able to transfer to my husbands doctor. A wonderful man and wonderful staff.
But alas my husband was in maintenance by this time and we were traveling two different paths. I am an emotional eater and he a boredom eater. I would get a fill, throw up everything I ate and then have to go back and get some fluid taken out. We have done this dance for a year now.
At my last visit after getting a regular fill again and doing the throw up dance I told my doctor I was thinking about having this thing taken out. Very discouraged for sure.
We chatted, he took X rays and concluded that I was not your normal patient. We would have to proceed on a slower basis with the fills. I also really needed to slow down on the eating. I gobble my food, I drink my liquids like there is not tomorrow and I was not practicing good eating habits.
I so felt defeated because my husband has done so well.
We backed off the fluid again and I am really concentrating on each bite, each sip of liquid, and starting to plan and measure my foods.
My whole reason for wanting to be successful with this weight loss is to be a much healthier "old lady" and to get around with ease in the next 20 or 30 years.
It will be a long struggle for me but I am willing to work at this until I am able to say I beat that emotional baggage I carried and just use my food for fuel instead of comfort.
That's my story and I hope anyone needing support will find it with me and we will travel this journey together with the help from all those who have made it and stayed the course.
