I am from North Carolina, but I live in Haslet Texas. Moved around a lot though, grew up military, I went in the military, and husband retired military.

I am doing good thanks for asking. Thanks for the comment on my weight, they said at the doc's office I was doing real well too, but I guess I've been hard on myself. I should have lost more, stuff like that. I've just learned how to recognize satiety so that should help me out some too. I feel pretty good right now, thanks

I'm 47 and have over 100 pounds to lose. It is good to hear you have achieved that. I have been somewhat concerned about my age and how slow my metabolism might be because of my age. I have been worried I would not be able to achieve a 100 pound loss. So hearing that you have is promising. Do you think age has had anything to do with how fast or slow you lost? Did you think you had to exercise more than a younger person might of had to? Or did you have to eat fewer calories for your age compared to someone say around 25 or 30? I previously had 6 different conditions that prevented me from getting any more life insurance, however with weight loss all are no longer part of my life and been removed from my medical records. Thus I have been able to up my insurance.

If you get to a healthy weight and maintain it for a set amount of time (all insurance companies have different guidelines), then you're no longer a risk due to obesity so you'd be easier to insure with less money.

Some people complain of the shoulder pain for many weeks post op. I was one of the lucky ones and never had shoulder pain. I would check with my doctor to see if there is anything that can be done to relieve it.

I feel really bad for you and went through same ordeal. I even went to a chiropractor thinking they could help. It will all go away I promise! It was from all that gas being pumped into us, please know it will quit hurting but takes time.

I get my fills with fluoroscope, but they still start out slow with like 2.5 cc's and then I go once a month till they said maybe the 3rd or 4th fill and then they'll tweak it after that. I really like the fluoroscope, but I just got my 3rd fill and I'm on liquids so I don't know if I am in the green zone yet. I kind of like the way yours was done. I think sometimes they take longer to get more money. I don't know that for sure just something in the back of my mind.

They told me to bring mine, and I am not even staying the night. Maybe they use it when I am under anesthesia? Or maybe I need it just in case I need to spend the night?? My CPAP doctor told me it is very important it is working properly prior to surgery.

They told me to bring my c-pap machine for after surgery, but they did not end up using it.LOL But to answer your question it is suppose to help. I'd take it just in case.
They told me if I did not use mine they would have to charge me to use one of theirs. I don't know. But I took it.

I did not have a problem with telling people I knew that I was having WLS, but I was unprepared for what would happen next. After telling everyone I knew I was not prepared for the fallout, which was everyone's expectations after the surgery. Every time I saw someone they looked me up and down and were constantly assessing my weight loss by some standard they had and when I did not meet it you could see it on there face. Then I ended up feeling like I needed to explain the difference between by-pass the sleeve and lap-band. I ended up having to go into a long spill about how lap-band works with the fills and all. Exhasting. Plus people would always say stuff about me having surgery in front of complete strangers that happened to be around. I got all kinds of different looks. If I could do it over I would not say anything unless someone asked.

If you don't feel you enough Fluid in your band, then why haven't you gone back in for another fill?
Also, keep in mind fills won't make you lose weight. They are meant to dim your hunger and keep you satisfied on much less food. Losing weight happens when you consume you less calories than you burn and that is up to you, not the band. The band just makes it easier because you're not nearly as hungry.
Follow up with your surgeon and let him help you.

if you are losing weight (with the help of any WLS) one is eating better and hopefully exercising.....that is not a lie as its the truth....so what if we have a white necklace attached to our tummy.....our business...tell or not tell, that is everyone's on private choice to do or not do...but if you do tell, head up and brag on yourself..

I would say it really is no one elses business, so I have no problem with someone withholding the fact that they had WLS. The misconception that WLS is a easy way out is real... I have been told, oh I thought you were losing weight through hard work. But that doesnt bother me. Personally I like telling people and will continue for anyone who asks.
The reason I got the band is because someone else shared that they had WLS. Maybe me sharing willl change someone elses life.

I drink right up to my meal but I don't drink during and I try to wait a while after. I try not to drink anything real cold before I eat because it seems to make me tighter

I agree with Dylan!

I drink up to about 10-15 minutes before eating but wait the 30 minutes after. But ask your doctor because every doctor has their own thoughts.

I drink right up until I eat and I've never had a problem. Your mileage may vary.
