I was told hamburger meat is very full of protein, so once I get to the week where I can add ground beef (my nutritionist has me adding a new protein every week) I will grill a small 2oz size burger and eat it without a bun..probably on lettuce if I can handle it.
  2. I'm getting my sleeve done at yale with dr duffy..so far the experience has been pleasant. He is very nice but tells it like it is. Very professional office too.
  3. I would go to a plastic surgeon within the hospital system my insurance is a part of so I hope it would go well
  4. Feel like an ass but so grateful after reading this. .my insurance covers EVERYTHING except a $150 nutritionist appt.
  5. Yeah I met with my surgeon the other day and I'm gonna do lab work at my drs office that's why I dont get it
  6. My insurance is through yale university (my mom works there)..basically everything just needs to be at yale, there's no insurance plan like aetna or blue cross just yale. I also just needed to meet bmi criteria, have a psychiatric eval and meet with a nutritionist before meeting with the surgeon. I started the process the last week of march and am being sleeved may 23rd. As far as cosmetics, mine covers tummy tucks and breast reconstruction/lifts
  7. What is the point of this visit? I was told it is to meet with the anesthesiologist but I just had my tonsils out in January and didn't have to meet with anyone. .same hospital, same insurance
  8. Mine is may 23rd. I'm 5'8", 268lbs. My dr said I dont have to do a pre op diet. Just eat as I usually do until midnight the night before.
  9. For those of you getting lifts and what not, have you already gone through the insurance process? My insurance will cover a lift, does that mean if needed can I just self pay for implants in the same surgery therefore waiving fees that I would acrue if done seperately..I know I should wait and see but I always like to prepare
  10. I think I have that vs set but I'm pre op so it looks better on you lol..congrats you look great!
  11. I love this part of the forum because that was one of my biggest concerns, being able to hold a baby without eating a lot. I heard a horror story that your body will start eating your baby like it does your fat. I know ew. Now I know people do it lol. I never tried since I'm only 23 and am on mirena.
  12. You guys are awesome haha
  13. I had all intents on getting the lap band and now am leaning towards the sleeve, is dumping a side effect of the sleeve or just bypass?
  14. Ok I get it now..my surgeon doesnt require a preop diet so I didn't realize how intense it is for some people. .I saw some people in other threads say they had to restrict their calories down to 1500 and eat less carbs and they lost 50 lbs in a month and another person said they were on 1400 calories of mostly liquid and to me that all seemed doable..but you are all saying its a lot lower and I understand now
  15. I dont mean to sound rude or anything I'm just confused because I only started this process not too recently. A little about me..ive been eating 1200 calories or less for the past 3 years (most days under 1000 calories) and exercising regularly 6 days per week. I do this all to remain stable and not gain weight while ive been wanting to lose weight it wasnt happening so I looked towards surgery. I see people on here say they lose 30-50, even more lbs on a preop diet and my dr said if I could do that then there would be no point of the surgery. I'm just wondering if some people can lose that weight on their own, why do they get the surgery? Once again I dont want to sound rude just a little new to all this
  16. I'm worried about my breast size changing. Im not being vain and obviously health is more important but its good to get others opinions. Ive never had large breasts for a bigger woman. I'm more bottom heavy. I'm 5'9" 268 lbs My bra size is 38 d I'm seeing people on here say they went from a DD to a C or B cup..does everyones' shrink that much. I'm already worried so much about self esteem issues..I struggled with them growing up and now I'm very pleased with my body. I dont want to be rail thin with no breasts :-( I'm sorry if I sound stupid because I know health is more important but my mental health is important as well. Did you all lose many cup sizes?
  17. I'm a little confused because I'm still in the pre op stage but my dr made it seem like you cant just choose when to stop losing weight.
  18. Sorry didn't see this im 5'8" and my dr said between 150-165 should be goal but all depends on the person I guess
  19. How tall are you? Its all about when u feel healthy..I think u are beautiful now as u were before surgery
  20. I'm scared of the exact opposite. I do have high self esteem now because over the years ive come to realize I'm a beautiful pleasantly plump woman. Im worried that when I lose weight I wont have as much confidence as this is merely a health change for me. I am not attracted to other women and feel everyone is beautiful but I think if I was attracted to other women I would go for a bigger woman because I just think bigger women are better looking. Ive had the exact opposite experience with men, men who say they like women with curves (but who knows they can say to a thin woman they like women thin). I'm also engaged to a man who met me at my current size and while he says he loves me and will be behind me 100 percent I cant help but to think he chose me for a reason, what if he no longer finds me attractive after weight loss? What if I no longer find myself attractive? Has anyone had these issues or thought about these things pre op?
  21. How long does it take for incisions to heal? My surgery is May 23rd and id hate to go an entire summer without swimming
