  1. Just wondering if anyone has had surgery in Tijuana, and if so who did you use? How did it go? Trying to find a surgeon. Insurance won't cover it, so I'll have to pay out of pocket, so...

    October Buddies wanted

My date is October 2!!! YAY!!!! I'd love to have a buddy! Whatever that entails :-) I'm starting to get nervous when I see other people posting their dates and I see that my date is before theirs, I'm like, WHOA, this is REALLY FINALLY happening!!!!!

    Jump start?

I don't have a surgery date yet, for that matter I haven't even talked to my doctor, BUT I know I am having RNY at some point and was wondering what I can to jump start my weight loss. I've been trying to do better and eat less, and healthier for that matter, but when I stepped on the scales, I was up 4 pounds from the last time I weighed, which put me 2 pounds over my highest weight. What can I do?

okay everybody...it's been 2 weeks with NO Dr. Pepper or soda of any sort!!! I'm doing it! I gave it up. and I have found an Ensure that I like for breakfast and have been drinking it. It took a little bit to realize the Ensure WAS my breakfast, not just the drink WITH my breakfast! LOL!!! Baby steps....

    Jump start?

I'm really gonna try to like diet Dr. Pepper, but I don't know... I'm also checking with my dr. to see what protein shakes he recommends. The weather will hopefully be improving soon, which will make the walking easier. I have a neighbor who had the surgery like 7 years ago and is anxious to start walking, so I'll at least have a walking buddy. Thank you all for your advice. I know you're all there when (not if) I need support!!!

What Protein Shakes Do You Use?

I hate the after taste of artificial sweeteners. What's the best protein shake or mix for me to try? I have not even started a pre-op diet, but know I will have to whenever I get my surgery date set and I'd like to start trying them out now so I'll know what I like when the liquids only time comes.

    Decisions Decisions

If you're in a job that you don't love, you won't be able to love yourself, even if it is your "new" self. Nursing is one of those things that you really need to love your job to do it well. If you aren't happy, your patients can tell and they won't get great patient care! I'm with Zima...Be true to you!!!!

    down 179 lbs

WOW!!!! You look AMAZING!!!! What an inspiration! I'm starting at 265 and am saving my pennies to have RNY. Glancing through everybody's pictures and trying to convince myself that I can do it too! Thank you for putting your before and after pics out there and for encouraging me!!!

I fight with him, but in the end, he almost always wins.

I'm afraid of ED! My husband and I are saving up to have RNY together, hoping we will be able to help each other. But I am afraid that even after surgery, one or both of us, will continue to eat. I eat little bits at a time, but have a sweet tooth. He, on the other hand, eats quite a bit, then goes back for seconds, but doesn't eat that many sweets. We know we both want to do better for ourselves. To be healthier, together, and we WILL have the surgery, but I'm scared we'll eat and our stomachs will re-stretch and it will all be for nothing. ... okay, I feel a little better now that I've actually put it out there.

    Surgery in TJ Mexico?

I was able to locate them online. Seems like a great place, but out of my price range. :-( Our insurance will only cover the band and only after you jump through a whole mess of hoops. The quote I got from Mexicali is $11,000 limited time cash price. Thank you anyway Marisela! I hope you continue to do well! And congratulations on your recent surgery!
