  1. good morning....up early today...dont know why...i feel pretty good. i find i am needing less sleep as i lose weight. also because i'm not eating sugar like i did in past. i am having a BBQ this weekend for the people at the kennel i use. they take such good care of my babies.... as i'm writing this...dr spivak's commercial came on. i was talking to my NY therapist yesterday and told him if he had any patients struggling as he saw me struggle with weight, to highly recommend the lap band. it really is helping me to stay on track when i lose my resolve. (and i used to lose my resolve often) tracyK: i watched the 1st 2 season's of BB and loved it. i'm not sure why i stopped. i guess i'll start next time. judy: i saw your pics on before/after thread....you look great. also from your working out...your skin is really coming in nice. you definitely are inspirational. ms jen: after obsessing about the numbers....about 6 weeks ago i stopped weighing every day. i dont know why but weighing constantly really messed up my food and exercise if i didnt like what the scale said. i allow myself to step on the scale the 1st of the month and 1 other time mid-month. since then i am losing more consistently and i am focusing on make sure i do what i'm supposed to do each day. i dont know why it works but your trainer knows what he/she is talking about. terri: see what you started??: heh: janiebug and mdrai: in NY i had a kickboxing trainer who had a butt like cantaloupes. i was thinking if he did have a "Lickboxing" class.....i'd be front and center ha! gotta go walk the dawgs! have a great day
  2. rainer...good for you...you are really getting off to a great start
  3. ha....i guess you're wondering how lickboxing goes
  4. hey haydee, right now i'm doing classes. i was working with a trainer but i got bored. i'm doing total conditioning and i find this makes me toned... and for cardio i'm doing the lickbox and spin
  5. hi terri lifetime fitness....i'm quite liking it these days... yes i am only steping on the scale 1-2 times a month. i think the exercise is really kicking up (or kicking down) my numbers.... it's really a "kill yourself type of day" in houston...wow
  6. hi terri...you really are a good friend (getting me going again) see if he recommends someone. usually trainers that are good only recommend other great ones. i have a gym story. we had a great spin teacher (you know the class you love). i took her classes several times a week and it was the only class i took. well she always had trouble with management. one day she was gone. i threw a fit at the club. so i decided to try other classes (kickboxing, total conditioning, etc) well her leaving opened a whole new experience at the gym and i never would have predicted this. so there is another trainer with your best interest in mind. bringing my car in for a check up....
  7. good luck haley just think this time tomorrow,,,,,your new life begins
  8. hi 2big, i think we al feel the way you do.."how did i get where i am today?" the good news for you...your history says you love exercise which in my opinion is key to weight loss even with the band and....you have great potential for exercise since it was only 12 yrs ago that you were running so quickly. you will be there again..... good luck
  9. i just read your last post about your doctor cancelling appts. thats not good. is there anyway to look for a new doctor that will pick up someone who had the surgery done elsewhere. your doctor's cancellations sound like part of the problem. having the right fill definitely helps to get rid of the hunger pangs....
  10. hi bionic, i know what you mean...i hate lectures altho' i do find on this site people are pretty supportive. i started to adopt my "old eating habits" and i must tell you it scared the be-jesus out of me. and i couldnt stop. so i decided to start journalling what i was eating on sparkpeople.com . i forced myself to be totally honest with myself since i was the only one looking at this. i also pushed to try to get to the gym. at first i didnt feel like doing any of this...but eventually it clicked... good luck...and only 1 foot has to go in front of the other. that helps me sometimes too
  11. hi mary, the isopure grape frost drink...are these the ones in the big test tubes?
  12. hi ifm, nope...i've dealt with this since i'm banded....with no fill. recently (very recently) i've started to be able to eat in the afternoons. but i enjoy the Protein shakes in the a.m.
  13. hi i have tried so many different kinds and have the leftovers in my closet because i dont like any with after taste the one i like the best is ISOPURE. you can get it at GNC online but they are expensive. so i get it from a website called A1supplements.com i mix them with water and ice and/or sometimes fruit since my banding i've had trouble eating so i basically live on these. they are high protein, low carb and calories. i like the chocolate and vanilla but they also have a box with assorted flavors (orange and creme, etc) anyway good luck in your search
  14. hi i was laughing yesterday thinking about one of my favorite NSV's... i can actually fit a regular bath towel (not a bath sheet) around my waist and it overlaps the other side. before lapband i could only do this with a double beach towel! ha!
  15. hi hlyndes good luck on wednesday. i was operated on in park plaza and was told they would call me the day before with the time of the operation. they didnt. Dr. spivak's office gave me the number and i called and got it. wasnt too big of a deal but i was worried too. re: gallbladder....not sure are you having trouble with it? re: pain meds....tylenol liquid really did the trick for me. in fact i was sick in the hospital from pain meds. i'm sure if you dont have anyone to help you fill the prescription the day of...i'm sure they would call it in. why dont you make a list of questions so when you call them you get all your questions addressed. the girls in dr spivak's office are great. there is a list on this website of preop and post op list of things to get. that was really helpful. bring a pillow and blanket for the ride home. good luck and keep us posted.
  16. hi nilsa, my doctor did not fill it during surgery. we need to heal from the surgery itself. in fact i didnt need a fill for 6 weeks after surgery. i've seen other people go at about 4 weeks take care
  17. hi sandra, i was banded on 3/31/07 by spivak. i had that on my signature and must have taken it off by mistake. have a great day
  18. hi i finally made the 100's. havent been here in 15 yrs yippee i couldnt wait to post this
  19. hi, i had one and didnt know it until the DR. was in surgery. he said it was pretty big but i didnt know about it at all. my recovery was pretty normal like everyone else's good luck
  20. hi tricia, i have to say this is the best thing i've done for myself in years....i used dr spivak and i must say i am thrilled with both him and his staff. i've had a few issues (of which i caused) and they have been super in helping me. dr spivak is extremely knowledgable and practical which i love. the insurance depends on how your policy is written. i was self pay but mine would approve under 40 BMI if you have co-morbidities (ie. high blood pressure, etc) anyway good luck.....
  21. hi nancy just read your recent post. is this only open to AUGUST bandsters?....
  22. great idea for a thread... i am banded 4 mos. some of my NSV's -airplane seat belt now has 6 extra inches instead of strangling my belly. -no more blood pressure pills -went from size 22 to 16. (only downside of this is i'm spending alot of $jack$ on clothes i'm wearing for weeks.....but i'm not complaining) -i'm going on my first date in years (i wouldnt date being fat) -not having to shop in fat lady stores (this is the best) as it was said below...the band is definitely a tool but i am working hard to make this a success. thanks and have a great day
  23. hey texas mom, i was getting obsessed with the scale and my eating patterns were starting to react to it. so i threw them out and decided to measure myself once a month. this has really helped me to focus on eating right and exercising. i also started to journal my food. i really have made progress since doing this.... like terri said..as long as the inches are coming off....thats the real deal good luck
  24. hi i would love to come to this meeting. i am in katy. i am fairly new to texas so i'm not too familiar with places to hold the meeting. i did attend the other yahoo meeting which was in a starbucks but it was tough to talk in there. i agree...once we get a time and place not sure if a leader is needed. look forward to meeting you guys
