lace, I just wanted to say congrats on pregnancy. I'm not sure what else to say since being a guy I have no idea what you will be going through. lol. I don't know how or if the lap band has any effect on a pregnancy. But I wanted to reach out and say good luck and let you know I'll be wishing you the best! You can always vent. I'll always listen. Best of luck in your journey. Keep us updated.

Long post….but hell, it’s taken me almost four years!
    ONEDERLAND, finally!
Although it seems to have taken me forever, I’ve arrived. I was banded way back in Sept 09. I struggled to find that green zone, that spot where I wasn’t hungry all the time. I stayed on the diet, eating exactly what I was told to, per all the paperwork given to me by my surgical team. (They are awesome, by the way! )
Then after about a year, my determination dwindled, just as it always did in the past. (hey, I did DIET for a year…not bad for me) I wasn’t feeling any help from the band…..and I knew it, but couldn’t/didn’t do a good enough job of convincing my surgeon of this. We/he thought it was just “I was losing faster than they were adjusting”, “may take me more saline than normal”, etc, etc…all those reasons you hear so often on here. That was back when my fills were done blindly. Then along comes FLUOROSCOPY! First time using it, the problem was easily detected and the corrected asap.
For me, and others I hear on here talk about this often… we get discouraged/lose that motivation when it’s not working as fast as we want. Thinking this wasn’t going to work me, I’m a failure, I can’t do this, etc, etc. That was so me! I thought never gonna get to goal…enjoy the 40-50% EWL and move on…I quit going to my doctor for about a year….embarrassed I had actually gained about 20#’s from my lowest. BECAUSE I was eating too much! Not in the green zone….just another diet.
Then I had a friend persuade me to get my butt back to the doctor….she had the band too. And she had already been through where I was at, and had succeeded.
So I did go back, doctor was VERY encouraging, he said we just need to adjust your band. Still skeptical, but I somehow got my mind back into the mode of maybe this thing really will work….maybe. A couple weeks after that fill….I knew exactly what the green zone was/is for me. And its been great ever since.
With my band in a great spot now, I enjoy riding my bike, AKA Stephanie (Steph for short) as my form of “exercise”.
She is always ready and willing. Never complains she doesn’t want to. I’ve ridden in the rain (soaking wet!), cold (even snowing), heat (sweating like crazy), etc. Because I enjoy it! She is always ready for MORE! Addictive I say. Once you find something you like….you’ll know what I’m referring to.
So if you’re struggling, losing that motivation/determination…..I hope this encourages you to know that others have struggled too. But you can do it! Just never, ever give up! I wish you the best….now its off to ride. Life is good GREAT!

I've had that. I think sometimes its just that the body decides it wants more that day. I try not to fight it, but I just don't want to make that a habit again. I figure the body knows something I don't. Lol.

I'd like to chime in a bit as well. I am mature enough to know that not every statement i receive on here is going to be all fluff and sugar coated. And it has been the honest answers that have truly helped me the most. When people were honest and told me the truth flat out, those were the times i was able to come to terms with my decisions and the mistakes that I was making. Both good and bad. Bayou, you have always given me straight forward answers and honest answers, and for that I am gratefull. Seriously, all the good lucks in the world aren't going to give me the support and help I need to win any battle against obesity. And quite frankly I wish I found this site before I made the decisions I did regarding WLS. I did a world of research too. And found that when it came to me and my WLS and all I knew, I was still wrong with alot of what I thought. And if i were fortunate enough to get some real answers from some real people I would have made some different decisions. Bayou, I have always appreciated your honesty in your posts, and I truly hope that doesnt change. I thank you for the help you have given in your posts.

Hi . First, call your doctor and ask if you got approval or not. I know I had to diet before surgery, as did most. Remember, they are there for you. Call and talk to them.
They should also tell you about how to prepare post surgery too.

I'd have to say no, and it's different for everyone I would get a fill, could drink half a bottle of H20 in office and then the day after feel the restriction to the point of being too tight. went to liquids and if the feeling passed great ,if not then I'd get an unfill. It's NEVER a good idea to stay tight, go for the happy medium. Being able to eat small amounts, with a steady slow weight loss.
Aspirating or Vomiting is NEVER a good option.

Why is your band empty? You getting fills is what makes lapband a tool. I'm sorry your not getting support but that's even more reason to push yourself to success. Good luck! Talk to your doctor about fills

I understand your frustration! This is not an easy process, especially if you don't have a good support team. I may have missed something, but why is your band empty?
