I had the same thing. They took all the liquid out of my band and put me on "band vacation". My doctor treated this very serious. I hope she doesn't give up either. It sounds like that doctor really messed her up. My leak didn't cause me any pain. I would just go for a fill and be really restricted and then a few days later feel nothing. Thats how I knew. Good luck to your friend, and good job to you for the 42lb loss.

I could feel the pain as I read your post. I am so sorry. I have been there. I lost 70 lbs and then had to get an unfill because of some complications. I gained back about 80lbs. PLEASE learn from my mistakes. I am so mad at myself. I am having to start this journey all over again. Is the leak in the band or in the port? I had a leak in my port. It was replaced for free and pretty quickly. I didn't have insurance do he just fixed it in his office without putting me under. He just numbed me. They told me that the leak could be caused by sticking the needle in the wrong place when trying to do a fill. They said this was rare and very hard to do but still possible. They said more than likely it had a leak in the port before they even put it in. Just a faulty port. I don't know much about leaks in the band. Good luck to your friend. That is interesting. I have never heard of that. My band is unpredictable. I will get stuck on something one day and then the next day have no trouble. I think the longer I go between meals the tighter I feel. Does that make sense? Anybody else have that problem.....well i guess thats really not a problem. I hope you find a solution soon. I don't know how having gastric bypass before would change things. I too ate a lot of soups because they were easy and pain free. I think soup is one of the main reasons I didn't lose weight at first. I could eat a gallon of soup. The band does not help with restriction of liquids. Good luck. There is a lot of negativity on this site. People love their precious little band and if you say one bad little word about it you will get torn apart! You have to be careful what you say on here. I had trouble with my band before. I am doing good now but I had a lot of trouble adjusting! I hope you get it all figured out! Good luck on your journey!
