granniero got a reaction from catfish87 in So Disappointed :(
    Hi New Life,
I can understand how you feel. I am 62 yrs old and struggled w/food all my life until it became an obsessive/compulsive thing and I ate my way to 285lbs (I am 5'4" tall). I got banded on Nov 13th.I am about 2 wks away from getting my first fill.As of today, I have lost 32 lbs and I feel so good. Once in awhile I eat something I shouldn't but I won't waste another minute of my life beating myself up over it. I did this to have a better quality of life. I have wasted so much of my life already struggling with this and hating myself.I am taking it one day at a time. On Thanksgiving day I nibbled on some fried turkey skin, ate a little ham, dressing and sweet potato casserole. Later in the day I had a sliver of 2 pies. Had a small Breakfast and for dinner ate some ham,I think. I enjoyed what I ate and felt very good about not being stuffed to the point of feeling ill like so many times before. Enjoyed being with family, it was a good day. Diet-wise, maybe not perfect but good just the same. It took many yrs for me to get this way and will take time to overcome. I know that getting my stomach banded did not fix my brain so I have to learn to rethink life and coping with it w/out the crutch of compulsive overeating. You can do what you set out to do. Just starting this journey shows that you care about yourself. Sometimes we have to learn how to love ourself and be nice to ourself. We all deserve to take care of us. You have a good day and keep moving forward.Don't look back.....Hugs,Rosemary

My name is Rosemary and I had my surgery 12 days ago. I feel like I am doing well but also have a long way to go, like about 135 lbs. But I try not to think about that, I am trying one day at a time. We all do better with a buddy and I am enjoying this website. This is my email if you or anyone wants to email and we can talk more: granniero@bellsouth.net. Hugs, Ro

I am 2 days out from surgery. Stayed 1 night in hospital. By last night, my first night home, I had major nausea and dry heaves several times. Had Jello and Water, not much else. Today has been much better, managed 3 half cup Protein Shakes, sipped water all day, had more jello and a popscicle. No nausea today, thankfully. Have taken no pain pills, not really hurting. Sore on movement but not pain. Hope everyone is doing well.

Got my date today, Nov 13th. Have been on 2 wk pre-op diet for a week, 1 to go. chicken, fish, vegs, no carbs and 2-3 Protein Shakes a day. I am 62 yrs old and looking forward to a new life. Sick of these limitations on my body(fat). Look forward to the help from sharing here.

I am set for Nov 14th and should have been on my liquid diet since the 1st but today, the 5th is the first day I was able to do it all the way perfect. I'm hoping this is not going to be a big deal but will talk with nurse next week just to make sure. I talked with her yesterday and she said I had to be perfect from yesterday on so I guess I am just paranoid. Anyone else doing their pre op liquids and hating it? Im hoping there are a lot of us getting banded next week so we can all share what is going on with each other. I know I need it.

granniero got a reaction from Bandista in Food Addiction/Emotional Eating Worry
Hi Jill, I am 15 days from surgery if all goes as planned, have my last dr apt on the 5th and will set date then but that's what I am expecting. As a true food addict, I have spent a lot of time consuming food, grazing, etc. The thought occurred to me today, what will I do with all this extra time? I am so looking forward to a brand new life full of things I haven't been able to do in a long time, moving more, sewing clothes for myself like I enjoyed years ago, easier traveling, etc. I am excited to start this new journey and tho it is scary, I believe I can overcome, just take one day,one hour at a time. You're not alone and I'm sure we all have lots of conflicting emotions, let's hang in there together !
