  1. First thought is, what does your diet look like? Are you measuring? It's not uncommon to not loose while your body is healing. I'm guessing here, are you speaking with a nutritionist? Are you feeling any changes in your eating at all? A few peeps here call this banidsters hell. You don't indicate the frequency or amount of your fills. Have you expressed all of your post to your doc? What does he/she say? There is a time between fills, when you should be paying close attention to quantity, quality, no snacking, calories including drinks, size of bites, length of meal time. Some form of exercise, walking is a good place to start. I know this must fell so frustrating for you, but if you are doing everything your doc says, then trust the process, it will happen for you too. It is by no means instant gratification. The band shows up everyday, you have to partner with it, and the weight will begin to drop. Hang in there!

  2. Flaxseed, that's what is helpful about the lapband. Because you have it periodically filled, the times between you create new eating behaviors. Things I ate before, binge foods, I can walk right past them and never give them a thought, really. If we could give up food or the thoughts of food on our own, no need for the surgery. Once my band was filled properly, I can pass up pretty much everything, and not even notice all the crap foods while grocery shopping. Good luck to you, whatever your choice or decision becomes.

  3. You know what Ceredad? You are doing something about your problems! Go you for getting out of your own way! I know you are going to get through this and be better for it! So many changes going on in your life, we don't always appreciate the good times, until difficult situations come along. With your band being part of the solutions- I know you have this! Sending all kinds of good wishes your way!

  4. Did you have your band placed by a doctor near you? Really, that ideally is the best person to contact. We can only tell you our experience, and sympathize ,but only a trained professional, checking you, can give you an accurate answer. But, you already know this right? If something is really causing pain, please don't hesitate to seek medical care regardless of who or where your band was placed. If you need reassurance that the first week to ten days can be rough, then yes, some have more discomfort than others. By all means, if you were given pain relievers, use them,if not, ask the doc if regular Tylenol is ok for you. I had to have Tylenol / codeine, I was in pain.

  5. Completely normal. In fact some on this board would say aggressive. No one knows how YOU will react - or not , to the fill, so they do what is average and customize you along the way. It gives you a chance to change your habits and behaviors along the way, it is after all, an adjustable band. Be patient, we. All have been there done that, and.. The weight will come off. This is a lifestyle change.. Not an instant fix. Your gonna do fine.... Trust it.

  6. Are you taking your pain meds, resting, heat/ cold packs, lot of liquid to sip? Walking to help move the gas along? Three days out can be too early to tell. Do you have a fever?, and redness or oozing from your incisions or port?

When you awake in the morning, why not give a shout out to your doc, to alay your fears, in for a penny, in for a pound, the new rules of taking care of you,

    Dony

T forget to follow through with us... Hugs!

  7. For a few of us, our moms were children of the Great Depression, food= love.

Cut her some slack, take a silicon ice cube tray to dinner with you, or a muffin pan. Tell her it's the best Soup ever and you would love to have some to eat as your new tummy will allow. I bet she will be happy to help you freeze up individual meals you can thaw out/ microwave on those late nights home from work.

  8. For all the veterans of lap band who previously had high blood pressure, I have a question. When you reached a normal (according to charts), weight loss level, how soon did you see a drop in your blood pressure? I have had high blood pressure since I was sixteen and 118 pounds. By the time I was 20, I was taking high blood pressure medications. At that time, I was told I most likely would be on it for life. I did not see any improvement in regular (monthly) dr checked blood pressure readings, until last month. For the first time it was low. Periodically, I have been checking it at home, a few minutes ago it was 97/67. I'm thinking that may be the reason my energy level has been so low lately. Obviously, I will be addressing this with my physician, but on one hand, it's exciting this Heath issue may be resolving, on the other side, how odd to possibly not take medication, and I do have concerns because my father has had two strokes and occasional TIA's. Mom also had hbp, as well as sibs. So, if there are medical professionals who can shed some light, or if you have experienced this, please weigh in! I have an appointment after Columbus Day.

Seriously, because of the low weight I had started at taking the meds, I think we all thought genetic, kidney etc causes, not weight.

  9. Hi Wendy,

I just wanted to let you know, you are not alone.

I have been my biggest obstacle . What I mean is, I was so mentally programmed into eating the old way, that I really fought with the band. I was so stuck mentally into telling it what I thought I needed, instead of listening. I've caused myself much mental angst, that alone could have been part of the band feeling tight. Most of my over eating pre band was due to trying to stuff my feelings, feeling anxious? Eat, sad? Eat, angry?, eat, happy? Eat, bored? Eat.

My mental habits didn't change. I've recently had an aha! Moment, but, it's taken 1 yr and 6 mo, to realize one simple thing. Listen to the band tell me what it wants and needs. Not my head.

I hope you find not only your green zone, but your own aha moment as well.

    Hugs!

  10. It's such a fine line for some of us! The elusive green zone. I suspect there are a few who have walked in your shoes. Don't give up! If there's one thing I have found out with the band, it's unpredictable, just like life when you think about it. Here's hoping you find your shade of green!

  11. First, let me congratulate you on the 61 pounds lost! Excellent!

What works for me regarding exercise...

Fit bit is a great motivator. Give yourself goals in the amount of steps and stairs you want to do everyday. Work up to that 10 thousand min per day, and then every couple of days, push yourself a little more. In bad weather, I head for the indoor mall, I'm busy looking at everything, and forget I'm exercising. Park your car at the farther point of every parking lot, it becomes a game as to how much you can get in. Dust off that old bike, or treat yourself and spend some lovely evenings touring your neighborhood after work. Turn on some music and dance like no ones watching! Have fun with moving! You will be surprised that pushing yourself just a little harder, may kick start the results you want...

  12. Have you given some thought to making food one day of the week, pack it in containers by portion, date & freeze. Pop in the microwave? When we fix steak, I make some rare so that when reheating, it's not over cooked. There are some precooked meats you can buy at the grocery store, bake a small sweet potato in the micro, a small ind. size veggie portion, dinner can be ready in 10 min.

Beans by themselves or in a Soup, lentil soup, Breakfast for dinner... Turkey or roast beef roll ups with cheese and lettuce. Just tossing out a few easy things I do for myself. When I need extra Protein, a whey Protein Shake.< /p>

Even restaurant meals, pack leftovers in individual containers. Since you rant eating as much, splurge on better smaller cuts of meat, pork, turkey, crab, shrimp etc.. Feeling lazy, I eat a single serving container of Greek yogurt. Multi Vitamin, minerals, etc.. Good luck, and happy cooking!

  13. Yes, I would do it again. I have gone from size 18 to a 2-4. My back pain is close to being completely gone, I can move about freely again. Traveling is so much easier, consequently , I am rarely home anymore- too busy out living life! My stats were similar to yours. It's been a good choice for me. What I was not prepared for was my body rapidly changing and all the attention it brought. I've had to work at that mental aspect, as in not undermining my own hard work. Learning to listen to the fluctuations of the band/ body, and not fighting it. If it's tight today, it's ok to have a Protein packed smoothie, instead of solid food. Follow up care is a really important aspect, to the best of your ability, investigate that help will be there for you, this board has been so valuable, and I would encourage you to read as many post regarding the band by folkes who live with it. I don't have local support, I'm sure if I was in real trouble, I would get help, but the rest.. It's a good thing I enjoy research.

You sounds like you are on the right track, you have many people here to help you along as frequently as you need it. Good luck, best wishes in whatever your choice is!
