So, My case went before the Obesity Work Group at Kaiser MAS on tuesday. By Tues evening I checked my referrals online & they had approved my referral for Dr.Mayes!!!! I called up his office & snagged an apt for tomorrow Fri. They tried to give me the whole stall of you have to attend our seminar before we'll schedule you but luckily a fellow sleever gave me the heads up to get that done months ago. ( Thanks Isleevedit) I have a Nut visit on tues. Today I also drove all over to get my copy of my psych exam, blood test results & medical history. So hopefully I'll get a date tomorrow for sept- fingers crossed. I'm nervicited= nervous + excited. See pinkie pie below for example. allons-y

My clinic manager told us to get a lawyer & they have a local firm that they work with to get it overturned. Your insurance cannot exclude wls but cover things like diabetes or pregnancy. A few hundred or thousands are cheaper than self pay here or Mexico. Plus you get follow up care covered. allons-y

So last Nut visit was the 13th of aug. she told me that the review board meets on the 20th of aug but theres a chance that I get pushed back to the next board meeting. The waiting here is painful. Patience is not a virtue I possess. I did manage to lose 13.4 #during the supervised diet portion so I made the weight loss goal set for me by kaiser & then some. They told me I had to lose 3% of my body weight, which is 7 #. Waiting for a phone call! Going crazy, feeling nervicited. allons-y

Losing 11lbs in 3 1/2 days post op normal?
RebecaSparkles replied to Robert Angel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suspect that 11# may be Water weight from the Iv they give you at the hospital. allons-y -
Get a lawyer. For real. Theres weight loss surgery lawyers who fight your insurance for coverage. If your insurance covers other things like diabetes etc tgey cant exclude coverage for obesity related treatment. A few hundred for a lawyer is hella cheaper than thousands for self pay or mexico. Also then your follow up will be covered. allons-y

when do you get your surgery date?
RebecaSparkles replied to linda305's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to complete insurance requirements & 6 months of visits. Get approved by board at insurance before I can even meet a surgeon. At first surgeon visit they give you the date usually 2-3 weeks from then or longer if u desire to push it. allons-y -

So frustrated :(
RebecaSparkles replied to Mrs.FullerRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I say call her& enquire why your paperwork is not done. Then go to her office & bring a book & dont leave til she gives it to you. Or write your own & bring it to her for her to sign. You paid for a service, she needs to provide it. allons-y -

If you can try not to get any sun on the scars for the first year it'll help a lot w/ the color of the scars. I work w/surgeons & its their little hint. The scar silicone sheets can help if your scar is raised. Mederma helps w/ pigmentation. Also just the act of rubbing the area helps w/ healing. So lotion , vit e doesnt significantly matter the vigiorous rubbing helps oxygenate the skin, the blood flow increases there as a result & warmth from hands& friction helps too. allons-y
