    Incisions...

Kristin, sorry it took me so long to respond, life has been hectic... Wow, sorry to hear about the blood clot!! That had to be scary as heck. Yes, returning to work was exhausting and somewhat full of humor for me--my co-workers are aware of my band surgery and even though we are all nurses with medical knowledge, when I came back they all gave me the once over as if they were going to see instant changes--as if I had cosmetic surgery or something. They are funny! I wish I could sleep, seem to have some trouble sleeping well since going back to sleeping in my bed( slept in recliner at first), that and trouble having bowel movements are my main issues at this point. Since surgery I have lost only about 7 pounds, total since starting this journey almost one year ago has been 37 pounds. I would love to keep in touch, maybe if you can you can contact me via email, which is how I would see your messages quicker. Email is momof4pains46@sbcglobal.net. If not, I will attempt to keep in touch here. Thanks again and glad to hear that so far things are going well for you, btw what diet does your MD have you on at this point?

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Congratulations to all of those who are new bandsters this month!! I hope all goes well for everyone, and this forum is a great place for support and advice! Gas is bummer, definitely better daily and with activity.

    Incisions...

hey girls, I have been looking for someone to talk to who was banded around the time I was, I was banded on 2-12-13. It sounds like you are both doing great. I am doing well, just this gas pain--do you both ever still have any gas pains? I am still having it daily, not going to the shoulder like people describe, but just under diaphragm. Also, have some discomfort with hiccups and burps that I get in my left abdominal area. I do try to get active, have gone back to work, etc.--do you have any suggestions? I would appreciate and love to hear from you.

    Back to work

I agree with the others, it will vary from one individual to the next. As a nurse, we do a lot of bending, lifting, etc.--guess I would evaluate your type of nursing and see if you can tolerate the daily activity you do. I went back on day 9, did ok except for some bending causing some incisional discomfort. Hope that when you do return that all goes well!! Congrats on your new journey!!

    Trouble Recovering

I was banded on the 12th, also had a hiatal hernia repair and scar tissue lysis--the pain has been more than I had expected, but each day is getting better. I would call your doctor first and foremost like others have said. Sounds like gas pains, if Dr. allows you can use some mylicon which has helped me. As has heating pads and walking. Pray that you feel better soon.
  12. How about getting out of bed, any ideas on how to not feel that pulling, tearing pain in left upper abdomen when up?

    port site

If you have already spoken with your MD, I would keep it clean for tonight and cover it with sterile dressing. It is common after surgery to leak serous drainage--this can be clear to slightly yellow with pink tinge. As long as the incision is not gaping wide open, the drainage does not have a foul smell, you are not running a fever, the area around incision is not hot and red--I would relax and see MD tomorrow.
