  1. I think by eating normally, they really meant that you can now introduce new foods without restrictions. From now on, you'll always have to take it slow, chew well, don't drink food until at least 30 minutes after... Etc.
  2. I love posts like this. Too many times people let the number on the scale dictate their moods and often we forget the wonderful advantages (both health and convenience things like fittng in an airplane seat) we get from the weightloss. It's a good reminder. Great post.
  3. All what the others have said. I had to get clearance as well with a therapist I have never met. It's important to stay completely honest with your team from the beginning. Please don't let this discourage you from being honest from now on with your team. It's your key to success. Some doctors just take the money and never help before, during and after. No guidelines, nothing. Those are where the horror stories come from.
  4. I favor an Asian based diet so I will throw in a couple that I love to use that aren't commonly mentioned in the threads. Sesame oil is wonderful in dishes, was well as roasted sesame seeds. I also love it in tahini paste form. Another I really enjoy is vegetable curry soups in coconut milk.
  5. This summer I've been on such a cherry kick too!
  6. Lol maybe we all are on the same "cycle". I've been craving corn on the cob recently.

    7 days post op

I gained 10 lbs within 24hrs after surgery (IV). It took a couple of weeks for the excess water from the drip to come off on me. I'm almost always dehydrated though. The weight lost in the beginning is mostly water, so later when the weightloss starts slowing down, it's because you're losing fat not water anymore which takes 3500 calorie deficit to lose one pound of fat.
  8. I was told nothing over 10 lbs until after 6 weeks because that is when the stomach should be fully healed. Anything over. According to my surgeon, anything over 10 lbs. can cause a hernia at the incision site.
  9. Speechless. Phenomenal job. [emoji322]
  10. If you feel uncomfortable, you can change surgeons for your post-op appointments. Or perhaps, do they have another doctor on the same team that you can schedule with instead? I never see my original surgeon, they had me visit with another doctor each time unless I specifically ask to see him. After the 3 mo, 6 mo and one year post-op, there is no need to go back. In the future, I would only go back if I developed some serious symptoms. But even when searching for surgeons for my procedure, I would have no qualms changing surgeons/teams because I absolutely have to feel comfortable with whoever I am with.
  11. I have been suffering from the worst allergies and started taking Zyrtec. I thought it was my imagination but it increased my appetite. I looked it up and it does indeed have that as a side effect for some people. While it is minimal compared to first generation antihistamines, it still crosses the blood brain barrier. I changed over to Claritin (doesn't cross so no effect on appetite) but that doesn't work so well for me. [emoji24] What do you all do if you have allergies?
  12. Allegra does not cross it according to studies Hmm may have to try that.
  13. Didn't know that. I'm going to start the word to my family members. Thank you.
  14. I'm a sucker for shrimp cocktail. Extra horseradish please. In the early days, shrimp was rather difficult but over 2 years out from my revision, no problem (thank goodness).
  15. I recommend logging every that you eat, specifically calories. If you do, then what does it look like comparing the two months? When I get frustrated because of weight gain, for example water weight, I am aware that I can easily fall into the old habit of feeling defeated. Now I look at my calorie intake and determine whether it is real or just water weight. It is a way not only to make sure the weight will continue to come off (or maintenance in my case), but also, keep me sane from self-defeating feelings. and actions that usually follow Like if I am eating 1300 calories according to my journal, week to week, and one day I gain 5 lbs., I know there is no way that the 5 lbs. I gained is fat and it must be water weight. So it gives me guidance, accountability and more importantly, peace of mind.

    Friends…

Pre and early post-op diet are the hardest part. Glad you vented, and I hope it helps, soon it'll be 1 year post-op and you will be enjoying most, if not all, what you enjoyed before, except a small plate will be enough and satisfying. Hang in there!
  17. For me, it was an easier recovery. No new food aversions. I didn't have any before with the sleeve either. My gerd is gone an that in itself made being able to stay on program much easier due to better sleep, no fake gnawing hunger signals due to excess acid... Etc. It was the best thing I've ever done. I've said this before on quite a few posts but I feel so normal now, like pre-WLS of any kind, and I still have restriction. At first, you will feel that your restriction is gone but it isn't, it's different than the sleeve. Also, like the sleeve, wait until you begin solids because the fluids will just go right through your system. I had a learning curve to determine when I was approaching fullness. With the sleeve it was a runny nose. With the revision, I can feel it more in my stomach. I still get the runny nose but that is far too late for me so I stop before that now. The signals are different. I have not dumped, and the only symptom I have is slight constipation so I take 1 tsp of MiraLAX in my coffee every morning. Some need more, some don't need it. My vitamins are the same, a multi-vitamin patch, and depending upon my blood tests (I take every 6 months), I may take an additional chewable ADEK vitamin.
  18. Been having terrible time with the app, so sorry that my comment is so late. I didn't see any of these posts for a long time. I like Fage yogurt. It has 20g protein.
  19. [emoji22] Big hugs. I agree with the others and just give it time, I didn't feel nor understand the different restriction cues till a couple of months in.
  20. I use a patch a day plus one chewable high ADEK. I don't understand a handful of day vitamins... I guess it depends on your doctor but that seems extreme. Why did you have the revision? I had to have one for gerd. I had no choice. If you had the revision for more weight loss, the consensus is that it is usually much slower IF your sleeve was done right. The reason behind this is if one ate around the sleeve, one would have a high chance of eating around the bypass.
  21. I'm the complete opposite. I love my revision. I literally feel normal (pre-any WLS) with the added benefit of controlling my weight loss. Literally the only side effect I have now is slight constipation (3 to 4g miralax a day does the trick) but I had that with the sleeve too. I wish I wasn't so scared to do the bypass in the beginning. It would've made my life so much easier. I really hope it improves for you.
