    Chewing food rule

I usually don't follow that rule anymore either except for certain foods that may cause the foamies (like chewy things like squid, calamari). I had to chew it that much for the first 3 or 4 months or else I'd pay dearly. I do try to eat slower though but just because I really enjoy the meal experience (still). It is still calming to me. I use two food warmers that I eat hot meals out of on a regular basis: Crockpot lunch crock warmer for soups and the HotLogic mini.

    weight loss tracker journal

I have been using Libra for years for my weight. It gives me all the stats in the world when it comes to my weight, bmi, Rate of lost, goal... Etc. For food, I've been using fitday online (not the app, it sucks lol).
  3. Better appetite control. It's never easy, of course, it always takes effort from all of us to eat the right things...Etc, but for some reason it's easier to say I will wait till tomorrow when my calories reset... etc. No digestive issues except mild constipation now and then. My blood tests are way better this time around (vitamin/mineral and all my vitals). No more UTIs. Some reason I had tons during the sleeve, but once I got the RNY, they went away. Maybe the additional weight loss helped my bladder. Not sure. It's been totally worth it. I wish I wasn't such a chicken back then and just had the bypass when suggested. 4. I am approaching 1 year of my sleeve to RNY revision. Although I am not as far out as you are, I wanted to post that I am SO happy about my revision and love that you posted about it. To live free of severe gerd is wonderful as well as the additional weight loss. As you noted, it is incredible to feel so normal, even before I had any WLS surgery.
  5. I got severe gerd and esophagitis from my sleeve around the 3rd to 4th year (rough guess). I had a chance to get band to RNY revision but was nervous about the "drastic" surgery. I wish I skipped both the band and the vsg. I am so pleased with RNY. Note: Many people with the band and VSG do not get serious side effects, but I did.
  6. This! I have so many extra protein powders and bariatric soups... Etc. for the soft food stage just sitting there. Ugh. What else did I wish I knew before my first surgery? I wish I did the bypass first. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I think certain breads are like slider foods like the refined and highly processed ones since they have been processed so much. Bread that is high in fiber and whole grains are far more filling vs white bread. But yeah, definitely not like cookies, chips, ice cream and cake though. Those are definitely slider foods. 8. I really really wish I knew how good they were during my mushy/soft food stage. argh lol
  9. I will have to try that. Sounds good. Thanks. Speaking of black beans. My husband stopped at Taco Bell last night and asked if I wanted anything, so I got a side of their black beans (50 cal) and I actually really liked them lol.

    Vitamins

I am coming up on my 1 year (next month) post-op. I take a comprehensive blood test every 3 months. The vitamins I have been using is the PatchAid multivitamin with Iron (daily patch), and in the evening I take one Barimelt ADEK. I also have collagen in my coffee in the morning and take 1 or 2 Bariatric Advantage calcium chews a day. For my hair loss, I started viviscal awhile ago.
  11. I weigh all my food (and log in real time) before eating. If i don't have a scale, I portion control by volume. My program has that if I eat anything, meal or snack, always have some protein with it, even if it is a little amount. Cheese, meat... Etc. It helps trigger fullness and will help cravings for later in the day as well. Since you had a bagel with veggies, maybe a small addition of some protein would've helped you. Since bagels are refined carbs they are slider foods for some and will go right through you (like cake and cookies). Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I had the revision in August for gerd, and I still have the exact sentiments of wishing I just got the bypass in the first place. I think of that often. I was scared to do something "drastic"so I went for the sleeve. Had I known that it doesn't feel any different physically compared to the sleeve, and appetite is far more suppressed for me now... It would've saved me years of pain and sleepless nights from gerd. Most sleevers don't have the gerd side effect but unfortunately some of us are unlucky. Wishing you success. 13. I started losing tons of hair around the same time as you. I had thought I was in the clear since it didn't happen early on. After my 6 month blood test, everything was in the normal range, I was recommended Rogaine for women or Viviscal sauce it wasn't an obvious vitamin or mineral deficiency. I opted for Viviscal, and it took two months and the hair finally stopped falling out. I see a lot of new hair growth near the front. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. I have thought of getting one too. I use Pam (or equivalent) for everything. I was thinking that I could get the weight before and then after so I can log the grams of oil used. Like you, I log everything but especially any product with oil. Oil is super calorie dense. Healthy or not, it can seriously change my calorie deficit. 15. My hair loss started late unlike many who gets hair loss right away. My blood tests came out perfect so my surgeon said it wasn't vitamin deficiency. I was losing so much hair that I got desperate lol. I started taking viviscal. I thought of rogaine for women but I felt the 2 pills a day would be easier than applying the stuff on my hair. Those are the two things that were suggested to me. I had read it worked for some and others it doesn't. So far, it is working for me. Thank goodness. I just don't know when I can stop it though. If I do stop will it fall out again? I wonder.

    Stall out and depressed

First of all, you have done amazing in your weight loss, and you're only 29 lbs. away from goal. The closer the goal, the longer the "stalls". As long as you're eating at a calorie deficit, be assured that you are losing weight, it just isn't showing up on your scale yet. You are 6 ft. tall, and I don't believe 1300 calories is even close to your maintenance required calories so your stall will break and you'll get a big drop. For some reason, my body is somewhat like this. For myself, I don't lose for 3 weeks almost every month but then I get a big drop. One of the ways that I get comfort is looking over my food log, the amount of calories I had day by day, week to week... Etc. and I have to remind myself that there is no way that I could stay the same or gain weight on the amount of calories I'm consuming. Our minds love playing those games on us.
  17. I had the band for years and the sleeve for like 6-7 years. For me, the sleeve was heaven as far as being able to eat without pain but it was far less restriction. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Foamies are just like the slimes with the lapband. I went from lapband (complication: slip) to sleeve (complication: severe gerd) to RNY. I never got them with the sleeve. I did get them in the beginning months after the RNY. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Spousal support?

I think he's saying "I love you no matter what." There are some spouses who threaten to leave if their spouse has the surgery (non support) and others who try to force their spouses to get WLS and plastic surgery. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I, too, was told I could drink up till I eat. The minute I finish my last bite, is when the 30 minute rule kicks in. There are times I set a 30 minute timer if I feel particularly thirsty. It always seems to go fast though. It's a small sacrifice, and I have been practicing this for many years. I read a book on successful wls patients, and this particular rule was stressed for long time success. The longer the better too, as long as you can get 64 ounces in a day, of course. blood pressure changes

I have always had high blood pressure, but after my recent revision in August of last year, about two months in, my blood pressure dropped. Stopped taking Lisinopril. 8 months after that my BP is still on the low side. I hope it stabilizes after I go full maintenance because sometimes when I stand I feel dizzy. 22. omg that steak she is eating looks soooo good haha. Thanks for sharing. Yuka Kinoshita used to have all her in english subtitles but recently she hasn't found someone to translate for her. Check out the 20 million view video whenever you feel like checking her out. The way she eats is pure madness lol.
  23. I'm a fan of Yuka Kinoshita. She's on YouTube and she eats an incredible amount (and I mean, an unbelievable amount but she is able to due to health reasons) and shares her recipes too. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Potatoes?

I eat potatoes, but not a lot of it. I usually eat them roasted or boiled and they are nutritious and easy on my stomach (especially during the soft food stage as per my surgeon). Interesting fact, boiled potatoes have the highest satiety score of all foods.
