  1. My best guess is that it's mostly water loss as@catwoman7 mentioned. Some on pre-op diets lose a lot of water weight (mainly low carb diets do that) so maybe that is what you are experiencing. You may enter a stall soon since it sounds like your body is adjusting. Please make sure you stay hydrated and contact your surgeon if you experience other symptoms.
  2. Lettuce wrap with a veggie burger 159 cal total. I could not finish it without being uncomfortable. First meal of the day is always "tight". Sometimes it's annoying.
  3. None of that seems normal except maybe for the first day or so for most people. Especially not after 6 weeks. If you haven't already, I would contact my surgeon soon. Really hope you feel better soon.

    Panara Turkey chili is back.

Ok. Now you all make me want to try it lol.

    must haves

For an overnight, as@Catwoman7 said you'll be sleeping most of the time. A phone with charger, a toothbrush, a large comfortable outfit that just slips on when it is time to go home, a small pillow for the ride home if bumpy (can hold it to your stomach).
  6. If I have a scale, I weigh it otherwise, I measure volume or eyeball it too if I don't have either. I make a point to always measure my food, whether by volume or weight, otherwise little by little my volume would increase. I can't trust myself to stay around 4 ounces like others can so I have to measure or the weight may creep back up. I try to stay around 112g (4 oz) with a meal that contains any heavy food like protein. If it's a fruit snack, like watermelon that is mostly water, I weigh a bowl with the fruit before and then after to get the weight I had eaten so I could track my calories accurately.

    Liver Problems

How did it go? Hope all is well and you got your answers. My alt and ast were high. It began a couple of months after surgery, and are still high at 1.5 year+ .
  8. I didn't have any major changes either but the I did get the intensity of sweets in particular. I don't really like sweets to begin with but right after surgery everything was sickening sweet. Now it seems more normalized. To your second question, to what I wish I knew... In retrospect, I wish I didn't waste time watching YouTube videos on how awful RNY was because my experience has been nothing like their experiences. It's been a smooth ride with little or no side effects, like the majority of WLS people, on this site.

    Gastric Bypass Surgery

I just got back my blood test and everything was good but my AST was almost out of range and my ALT was out of range at 35. I noticed it climbing every blood test. I'm at 1 year 7 months after my RNY revision. I was so concerned so I did a search here and found this. Thank you. I don't drink or do any of those "don't do this or it'll hurt you liver" things, even the diet no nos are not foods that I normally like, so I wasn't sure what is causing this. I have a check up with my bariatric team in a couple weeks but seeing this calmed me. Thanks again!
  10. Looking great. Looking at the pic, it looks like you have lost like 40 lbs. I would check your scale if it's broken lol. Either way, congratulations and good work.
  11. It was a 'hungry' night so I made Hot and sour soup made with wide konjac noodles (the packets had chili oil, seasoning pack, soy sauce, black vinegar, roasted peas = 169 cal), and I added napa cabbage, Chinese broccoli, 1 boiled marinated egg. Total of 267 calories, 11.3 carbs.

Solid foods - did I eat too much?

Mine kind of mumbled something similar to what@Arabesque said about portion size. Start off with 1/4 to 1/3 cup and work up to 1 cup, and stay at around 1 cup forever. He was pretty vague about it too. The progression came natural to me since our stomachs do expand a little as time goes on. I usually weigh my food (in grams) instead of measuring volume though. There are some foods that I do go on over the 1 cup rule, like lettuce, or watermelon due to the high water content, for example.
  13. Mine didn't get serious till about 4 or 5 years later too. It got to the point that it was "uncontrollable" and no PPI worked. It wasn't till my throat was literally burning 24/7 that I decided I had to get it revised or I would be risking throat cancer.

    ROBOTIC SLEEVE SURGERY

Yes, I had Da Vinci robotic surgery as well. State of the art. Less scarring, less pain, reduced risk of infections or complications, quicker recovery and more. There are many benefits. You still have to have a great surgeon though since they will be leading their team and controlling the arms... Etc.
  15. Some people can do it without surgery. Unfortunately, I was not one of them. Like the others, I would lose weight, only to regain it, and more each time. One thing that you will see in these threads are people saying they wish they did it sooner. I am one of those as well. I wish I didn't put it off. I wish I did it in my 30s, it would have saved me years of frustration and pain, mentally, emotionally and physically. I guess that's why I am sharing my thoughts with you. I wish someone sat me down then and told me that I needed help, that it was only going to get worse. Instead, they just kept telling me "just don't eat so much". No one in my family understood overweight people. To them, it was simple but not to me. It still isn't. I still have to work on it every day. WLS saved my life in so many ways. If you do decide to do it without surgery, it would probably be helpful getting a therapist to help you with your relationship to food and to be successful.

Anyone else doing this in their 60's?

    In my 60s too. Welcome!

    Baby plates

I use small plates and bowls too. My favorite forks are theb little appetizer forks, and I love the long handle ice tea spoons (i.e. tiny spoon size but with a long handle).

    chia seeds/flaxseed

Yes, I am a fan of both. I especially love to make chia pudding with my kefir or yogurt. Yummy.

    back in the hospital

    feel better soon
  20. Airfried plantains with pink Himalayan salt, and then I serve it with lime juice. 150 calories.
  21. Yogurt, hummus, black beans with cheese, oat bran, air fryer cheese crisps, all kinds of soups.
  22. I don't blame you for being frightened. There is a reason why there are several Mexican states under a travel advisory, like Colima, Sinoloa, for example. Crime and kidnapping is listed as the top reason for all of them. I would check the U.S. Dept. of state travel warnings for the area.

    Best probiotics

Kefir (preferably homemade) has the most probiotic of any food. Has millions. Far more than even yogurt.
  24. No, just milk kefir but I've thought about trying it (also thought about trying to make kombucha).
  25. I put 1/2 c of silk cashew milk, 2 tsp of Besha Verisol collagen supplement, 1 tsp of miralax, and a tablespoon of chobani creamer. Depending upon the type of coffee, I will add a serving of Cocoavia cardio health cocoa powder (unsweetened dark chocolate).
