Redesigned_Curves got a reaction from CaGottaBand in Running Mishap
So yesterday I am on the treadmill doing WK9/Day3 of the 10K program and my ipad that I am watching keeps wanting to fall off of the treadmill. I have never had this problem, ever! But I just could not get the thing to say up there and I couldn't figure out why. Anyway - I am about 1 min from the half way point and it finally falls, hits the treadmill belt and shoots like a rocket between my legs. So I have to stop the treadmill and pick my ipad up. Some of you may read this and think "ok - whats the big deal", right?
But for me mentally it was a huge deal. I tried to get back on, but mentally I just couldn't get back into it. My time was now messed up since I technically didn't run the full 10mins stretch and I was going to have to redo wk9/day3. I know it seems a bit extreme, but I am a perfectionist and this is the way my mind works. I tried to reason with myself that I knew I could do it, I had done it twice before during wk9/day1 & 2, but to me that felt like cheating. That the 19mins that I had done was a waist. I finally gave up and left the gym and I was so mad and upset with myself....until.
It finally hit me on the way home. I had just ran 19mins! That in itself was an accomplishment, hell a workout even! Nine weeks ago I couldn't run 3mins. My running mishap and not being able to finish didn't define me! The fact that I had just ran 19mins should be what defines me.
I guess my point is that I think sometimes we are so busy being hard on our-selves that we don't take the time to appreciate and even Celebrate our accomplishments! That instead of finding things to use as our reason to quit or give up we need to look for reasons to keep going! Celebrate even the small stuff. The positive is there we just need to look for it sometimes.

I have the same problem and think about this often. I know in the past I remember being comfortable at 165, but I am also loosing weight different than before (if that makes any sense). I just think its one of those things that you will know when ya know.

This site is free. If it takes a lil longer, oh well. I'd rather that it work right than be rushed and become a cluster.

I just started this last week. Today I'll be doing week 2, day 2. So far so good! I remember trying this 100lbs ago, and literally couldn't make it past the 5 minute warm up!! I've always wanted to be a runner! Looking forward to the day I can run an actual 5K!

Yes - I had kind of hit a stall in my weightloss and the moment I started C25K the weight started dropping off again. I highly recommend this program. Never realized how much of a full body workout running was. Up to running 25min straight this week. Probably one of my proudest accomplishments!

I have heard of it, but it is rare. Sounds better to me. Plus you don't have to worry about it being as obvious and sticking out as you loose weight I wouldn't think.

Janet Evanovich Plum series is awesome. It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud, but these books do it. Highly recommended!! So far there are 19 books in the series and book 20 comes out November 19, cant wait!

I am about 8 months post op and I still have left shoulder pain. I tried to explain this to my doctor, who is also a band patient, when I went in for my last fill. He said he experiences this as well when he eats to much and there is stress on the band. The weird thing is and what I couldn't seem to get him to understand is that I experience this when I am extremely hungry or have not eaten for a long amount of time. Eating usually makes mine go away. Seems I am the opposite of most people as I have hear this can also be a "soft signal" to stop eating.

I agree with the previous posters but I'd like to add that if you follow the eating rules/guidelines, you won't be as hungry after meals which helps me to avoid snacking on bad foods. But it won't stop you from drinking 2 liters of soda a day or a lb of M&Ms.
Something that motivated me was just the fact I lost so much weight, and I'm confident it won't come back, is, feeling healthy, feeling thinner, fitting in my clothes and moving with much more ease, they replaced that empty space where only food would satisfy before.
One never knows until one tries. As another poster once said, "Sometimes to get where you want to go, you have to do what you are afraid to do. You must be brave and push forward. Miracles occur when you give as much attention and energy to your dreams as you do to your fears"

Right now you should be focused on healing and not weight loss!! 15 days post op and you are already working out on an elliptical?!? Most people are not cleared for exercise (aside from walking) until about 3 months post op. Has your doctor approved this? I am worried you could really cause yourself harm...
