Worried I've done something stupid!......
Now I have a TOTALLY different perspective to add. My doctors post-op diet is clearly different than all others I have seen. I went on to pureed Proteins (3T 3 times/day) on day 3. After a month I am allowed to add 1/2 c of cooked veggies After 2 months I can add 1/2 c of fruit NO CARBS until I have lost 75% of my excess weight

Is it supposed to hurt this much?
I was banded on the 15th and I TOTALLY hear you!!! I don't have pain at my incision sites, but TONS of ga pain that I can't seem to get rid of. It's terrible.

Surgery went fine- he was in and out in 31 minutes. He said that he could really tell that I worked very hard on the pre-op diet. I'm still in a LOT of pain and having a hard time. I was dry heaving night before last. I have a LOT of nasuea, but so far no vomiting. I'm having a hard time getting my liquids in as well. Any tips for the fluids and naseau (sp?) would be greatly appreciated. Count me in for February!

January Bandsters???
Stephanee- thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I have lost all grandparents and both my parents and am an only child. My son is now having huge difficulties with his asthma so it looks like my hubby will have to stay with him tomorrow instead of coming with me. I feel so alone and am wondering if I have made the right decision.

Of course count me in as well! I will actually be banded next time!! Yeah! Thanks ladies for answering my endless questions! Tomorrow's the day. I've been excited up until today. Now I have to admit I'm a little scared. Plus my son's asthma is acting up today, so part of me is saying that I should stay home with him. But I know that being alive for him is one of the main reasons I'm doing this. It's just hard.

January Bandsters???
I'm excited of course, but a bit nervous as well. I take inspiration from all the recent bandsters who are posting that they came through well. I guess the main thing for me is the fact that I haven't told hardley anyone. Usually I would ask my church and friends to pray for me and it has given me comfort to know that I have their prayers. I TOTALLY believe in the power of prayer. And now I don't have that and I'm kinda scared.

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Thanks Dawn. You have any tips as to why you have been so successful? I would LOVE to be in your place in 5 months!!!

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
I'm getting banded in 8 days- January 15th 2007. I'm 5'2 and have a BMI of 50. I am wondering if those of us with BMIs over 50 loose quicker, on average, than those with lower BMIs? I know that usually we loose weight on diets more quickly just because we have more to loose. So is it the same with the band? I know everyone differs greatly, but I'm talking about on average. Thanks!!

Sweetviolet- I wear 3X/4X and would LOVE them!! I can spare you AT LEAST the expense of driving them to me by picking them up! That would be awesome. Randy, I agree with piercedQT- I would think that it would take about a month after everything is approved to be scheduled. And yes, there is a pre-op diet, and I'm not going to lie- it's a KILLER! I'm doing the very best I can, but haven't followed it to the letter.

I start my liquid diet on the 1st, and I am to be banded on the 15th. Pre-band I can have coffe, I think (Mandi?). I live in Channahon. I would drive, though. Breakfast or lunch is fine as long as it's on a weekend. Dinner any night is fine for me as well.

Doing ok today. Walking 50 minutes everyday at 1.7- 2.0 mph. On Christmas sil tried to talk me out of getting the band because she knows someone who's sister had surgery and has had one infection after another from it. She actually has ALWAYS tried to sabotage any weight loss efforts I have had in the past. She decided to give me ADVICE on what I should do about my weight. French, all in moderation. Blah, blah, blah. She also gives pointers to dh about how to quit smoking. It makes him SOOOO angry. No one asked her for advice. I wish she would just keep it to herself.

Christmas Eve. I've got a killer headache again. Funny, I get it right after I walk. I wonder if there is a coninsidence? TERRIBLE eating today!! For breakfast I had 2 Krispy Kremes and a Poorboy sandwich!! I'm really regreting it, though, cuz it made me nausous and I'm burping garlic to the max. Ick. Couldn't even think about lunch because I was so full from breakfast. I did my 50 minutes of walking, and went 2.0 mph today- much higher than the past week. I also did my streches for what it's worth. I didn't feel much of a strech on most of them i think cuz i'm so heavy. i MIGHT do strength training tonight if i can get rid of this headache. want to open presents soon, but i feel so lousy just not in the mood. i took a tylenol with codiene, but they didn't work last night. i hope it will work today. dean and jerry are both sick, too. i'm just worried about dean with his lungs. we increased his flovent to 3 puffs a day until he can get rid of the cough. i pray he gets better soon.
