One of my favorite Snacks is a little PB mixed with cool whip. It's like PB mousse...yum!

The type of weight loss is not necessarily determined merely by the amount of weight a person has to or chooses to lose. Those who have said they are shocked that he chose the lapband to lose his weight I would question why you would be so shocked?
Many of us that chose the lapband did so to avoid the re-routing of our guts, and the life long malabsorptive issues that come along with many of the alternative WLS.
The lapband can be and is a very effective tool for weight loss and in my opinion a greater tool for life long weight maintenance over the other surgeries.
There are many today who are being banded on top of their gastric bypass because they have gained weight a year or more after their surgery and need further assistance. The same can be said for those who have the sleeve, and have a regain of weight over time.
The lapband is the only adjustable WLS that while it is made for life long implantation it may also be removed, reversed or revised to another surgery.
While it is true that weight loss is faster with the other surgeries, it may not be what the doctor ordered for Mr. Christie or others.
He's done an amazing job with his weight loss as far as I am concerned, and everything else (about the man or his political position) is irrelevant in this forum.

I've had one for about a year. The insertion was very painful. For the first 3 mos. I had cramping and bleeding every day. I have continued to lose weight though and after about 3 mos the cramping and bleeding subsided and I now only have light cramps and spotting for a couple days a month for my period. I'm happy with it now but the first 3 mos. were rough.

I went to lane Bryant with the same issue and the cashier had actually had bariatric surgery
She suggested a Demi bra, which I guess you could say is a type of push up.

stephgfl got a reaction from dawalsh in Flipped port and pain
I was banded in 1/13 and I have a flipped port. I'm pretty sure it's been flipped since very shortly after my surgery because at my first fill and ever since my surgeon has had a hard time accessing my port, but he never said it was flipped. At first I thought it was normal and maybe just my body or the position of the port. But I saw another surgeon in the practice and he was immediately like "oh my goodness you have a 90 degree flip!" He showed me the flip on X-ray, and now I know why I can only feel the side of my port.
My question is has anyone else experienced this and more importantly, did you have pain with it? I have a lot of pain in my port area and suspect it's related to the flip.

I was dry heaving 3 days after surgery and had to go back into the hospital. I asked my surgeon if all the retching could've caused a band slip and he said that was very unlikely to happen so soon after surgery. I'm not sure why that is, but I'm now about a month post-op and doing great. Good luck.

Hate 'em. This probably sounds crazy but I think "new me" is kind of sanctimonious.

stephgfl got a reaction from ItsANewDay in 1st NSV
I went out to dinner with my husband for the first time since being banded 3 weeks ago. I ordered salmon and mashed potatoes and left with over 2/3 of it in a box, I didn't even touch the other side dish! And I was full! In the past a meal out meant appetizers, a few drinks, salad, and dinner. And of course I would eat every bite, then maybe even desert. Following the band rules it took the same amount of time to eat the smaller portions as it took my husband to eat his whole meal.
Being able to eat a reasonable portion and feeling satisfied is a NSV for me. I honestly don't remember the last time I experienced that before the band.

You did the right thing. It sounds like you have been pretty good friends for awhile and I think once the shock wears off she'll realize you were trying to help her.

Good one Terry, I will definately be using it
A couple other possibilities are gum disease or tonsil stones. The gum disease can smell absolutely rancid and can have other health implications. I don't know if tonsil stones is the right word but basically your tonsils can accumulate food debris, plaque, etc and obviously smell like something rotten. They can be easily removed.
Even though its hard, you should tell her because she might have a health issue that needs to be addressed.

I was banded 1/17 and the same thing happened to me 2 days post op. My surgeon sent me to the hospital where I stayed overnight and got IV fluids and nausea meds. I know it's scary but you will be ok.

I'm on day 9 and I expected to be tired and crabby, but much to my surprise I've actually felt more energetic than usual. I had a little bit of stomach trouble in the beginning and of course I'm hungry but I'm really surprised by how good I feel. Anyone else?
